Chapter 2280: Chapter 2281: Traversing

Wang Wang was probably being asked for help by a human for the first time, and at first, it didn’t know how to respond. It was stunned for a while before saying, ”What do you need my help with?”

Since Angel had brought it up, he naturally didn’t hold anything back and told Wang Wang everything about his request to traverse a Spatial Tempest.

Wang Wang was initially worried that Angel might ask for something that would be difficult for it, something it couldn’t refuse, leaving it in a dilemma. However, after listening to Angel’s request, it secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

If it’s just crossing a Spatial Tempest, that wasn’t too difficult for it.

Thinking of this, Wang Wang replied, ”I can help.”

Angel was overjoyed, quickly saying, ”What kind of repayment do you want? If it’s something I can do, I’ll try my best to meet your demands.”

Wang Wang shook its head: ”No need for repayment, this isn’t too big of a deal.”

Wang Wang was already constrained by the Dalmatian, having to fully cooperate with Angel. Even if Angel made a difficult request, as long as Wang Wang hadn’t left, it had to agree. Moreover, in Wang Wang’s eyes, Angel’s request wasn’t difficult.

”No repayment? So you’re planning to help unconditionally?” Angel’s expression was a bit strange. Are all Void Travelers so selflessly helpful?

Wang Wang was about to nod but seeing Angel’s expression, it changed its mind: ”It’s not entirely unconditional, just take care of it for me.”

By ”it,” Wang Wang referred to a fellow Void Traveler it intended to leave with Angel as a helper.

”Additionally, this is also compensation for our previous actions where we observed you from the void.”

Hearing Wang Wang’s words, Angel relaxed and accepted it assuredly. After all, for wizards, sometimes the most expensive help is the one given unconditionally because it can lead to an exchange of favors, which could result in severe consequences or even death, as often witnessed in the Wizards’ Realm.

”Thank you then.”

Since everything that needed to be discussed was done, and Wang Wang wanted to help quickly and leave, they were ready to solve Angel’s issue immediately.

The large door of the Vine House, closed for nearly an hour, finally opened.

As the creaky sound of the wooden door echoed, the Void Travelers outside remained on high alert, seeing this place as fraught with danger.

Angel and Wang Wang walked out.

Seeing Wang Wang was okay, the Void Travelers relaxed, but they remained wary of Angel.

Angel didn’t mind, as he roughly understood the habits of Void Travelers. Their timidness led to intense paranoia. Although it’s overly sensitive, it’s also their way of survival in the Void. Without caution, the threat of death would be ever-present.

Toby, upon seeing Angel come out, also relaxed, fluttering its wings to land on Angel’s shoulder. It then leaned into Angel’s ear, whispering softly.

Toby was also complaining about the cowardice of these Void Travelers. It had intended to ”play music,” but every time it touched the Bluebell Chime, the Void Travelers reacted like they were facing an army, leading Toby to stop touching the chime, fearing it would frighten them to death and be hard to explain to Angel.

Angel listened and gave a faint smile, gently smoothing Toby’s feathers for comfort.

”Where did you say the Spatial Tempest is? Shall we go now?” Wang Wang asked.

”Just a moment,” Angel replied, his gaze turning toward the floating flower in the Cloudtop Garden.

...

A while later, in the boundless darkness of the void.

Nami Midori, glowing a faint green, gazed at Angel’s side. From its optical feedback, Nami Midori saw no creatures, but when it focused the wood energy into its eyes, it vaguely saw a limp, gooey blob.

And it wasn’t just one, but scattered within a few miles, there were many of these transparent blobs.

However, the one next to Angel was the largest, presumably the sole intelligent one among the Void Travelers Angel mentioned.

”Does it really have the ability to traverse the void and even disregard Spatial Tempests?” Nami Midori asked.

Angel: ”It should be fine.”

Nami Midori nodded, gazing at Wang Wang, with a golden glint flashing through its snake eyes.

Feeling Nami Midori’s gaze, Wang Wang sensed an inexplicable danger, instinctively becoming tense.

Seeing Nami Midori’s interested eyes and its flicking tongue, Angel seemed to understand its intentions, quickly saying, ”Lady Nami Midori, it’s best not to do unnecessary things.”

Nami Midori glanced at Angel: ”Don’t worry, I only want to test its capabilities.”

As soon as it said this, Nami Midori’s lush green serpentine body emitted a luminous glow. Even in the void, behind it began to appear a grand scenery with flowers blooming and petals falling like rain.

The originally beautiful scene only heightened Wang Wang’s alertness. Recalling Nami Midori’s earlier words to Angel, it seemed to understand what it was about to face.

”Let me witness your void traversal,” Nami Midori’s voice echoed from the radiant scenery.

Along with the voice came a leisurely drifting pink petal.

The petal also gleamed, tracing an apparent luminous trajectory as it flew toward Wang Wang.

Wang Wang could sense that the petal contained extremely high energy. If touched, it could get severely injured. The petal’s speed was so fast, it reached Wang Wang’s face in the blink of an eye.

With no other choice, Wang Wang instinctively activated void traversal.

Void traversal had no visible special effects, but in the energy vision, it was clear that Wang Wang’s previously semi-transparent body started being engulfed by darkness, and instantly merged completely with the darkness, disappearing from where it stood.

When Wang Wang reappeared, it was not far from behind Nami Midori.

This was Wang Wang’s instinctive reaction; encountering a magical creature in the void, it would first traverse behind the creature, whether for attack or retreat, allowing some reaction time.

As Wang Wang wanted to see the situation with Nami Midori, it suddenly saw a bright rosy light in the distance.

Wang Wang looked at it immediately.

It saw that the pink petal that flew towards it had not gone toward its previous position but was instead caught by a pair of hands.

In other words, even if Wang Wang didn’t traverse, the pink petal wouldn’t have touched it.

The hands that stopped the petal belonged to Angel.

The moment Angel touched the petal, it burst with intense rosy light. Wang Wang thought Angel had been attacked and felt slightly panicked. After all, it seemed to Wang Wang that Angel was suffering to help it stop the petal.

However, the pink light didn’t last long; after a second, the halo dimmed.

Wang Wang looked again and saw that Angel was unharmed. He held a pink petal in his palm, which rapidly expanded and eventually turned into a bright red fruit.

Angel looked at the fruit in his hand, which resembled an apple, and without much hesitation, he took a bite.

The fruit wasn’t large, but it was bigger than Angel’s mouth. Normally, it wouldn’t be eaten in one bite, but miraculously, once Angel bit it, the red fruit deflated like a balloon, turning into pure energy that he swallowed in a single gulp.

”It tastes good.” Angel gave Nami Midori a gentle smile. Although this fruit wasn’t a real fruit, the taste was genuinely excellent. The flesh was pure natural energy, beneficial without any harm upon ingestion.

Nami Midori glanced at the still-stunned Wang Wang, then said to Angel, ”This fruit wasn’t originally meant for you.”

”In any case, thank you for your gift.” Angel understood that though Nami Midori said this, the fruit was indeed intended for him. After all, Nami Midori was watching to see Wang Wang use Void travel, not to see it hard-catch the petal and then devour the fruit.

Moreover, with the Void Traveler’s extremely cautious nature, it wouldn’t carelessly eat something from strangers.

Nami Midori didn’t immediately reply, instead, she swam slowly to the side, her gaze fixed on the distant Wang Wang.

”This Void travel is indeed spectacular, but can it really traverse a Spatial Tempest?”

Angel couldn’t answer at the moment; such a question could only be known through direct experimentation. So he waved to the distant Wang Wang, signaling it to come over.

Upon hearing the dialogue between Nami Midori and Angel, and recalling the previous scene under the pink light, Wang Wang roughly understood that the green snake had no intention to harm it. The petal, which appeared full of energy, wasn’t some kind of attack but rather a kind of edible fruit gifted by Nami Midori?

Although Wang Wang didn’t get to eat the fruit, it didn’t mind; even if it had known in advance that the petal was a misdirection for fruit, it wouldn’t have eaten it.

After temporarily lowering its guard against Nami Midori, Wang Wang followed Angel’s instructions and traversed to his side.

When Wang Wang arrived, Angel got straight to the point, not mentioning the previous incident.

Angel: ”The Spatial Tempest over there is this time’s target. Do you feel confident to traverse it?”

Following Angel’s gaze, based on its experience living in the Void for years, Wang Wang sensed something unusual upon seeing the Spatial Tempest.

Firstly, that Spatial Tempest exhibited a strange cyclical change, sometimes expanding, sometimes contracting, like the rise and fall of tides. It was Wang Wang’s first time seeing a Spatial Tempest with such periodic changes.

Secondly, it was too clean.

A Spatial Tempest is a spatial collapse. Within that Spatial Tempest, the spatial collapse was so clean that no spatial fragment remained.

Even after ”the tide receded,” the reformed spatial barriers were as smooth as a mirror.

This implies one thing: the Spatial Tempest must have existed for a long time because if it had only appeared for a day or two, there would certainly be remnants of original spatial fragments. Only after prolonged periods, with debris repeatedly washed away, can it become this clean.

Angel had previously mentioned to Wang Wang that the Spatial Tempest had persisted for over four hundred years, which Wang Wang initially doubted. But now, judging by various signs, it might indeed be possible.

A Spatial Tempest lasting over four hundred years was something even Wang Wang, who had lived long in the Void, had never encountered.

”Is there any difficulty?” Angel asked again, seeing that Wang Wang hadn’t responded.

Wang Wang thought for a moment: ”If it’s just me traversing the Spatial Tempest, there’s no problem. But if I take you with me, I’m not sure I can get through.”

Angel had already learned from Wang Wang that it could transport people for at most a hundred miles, but this Spatial Tempest spanned at least a thousand miles. Given Wang Wang’s ability, it indeed couldn’t take him directly through.

However, Angel didn’t plan to traverse the entire Spatial Tempest; he mainly wanted to know if the Treasure Land hidden within it still existed.

”No need to carry me through first.” Angel said, ”Try traversing alone first, to see if the Spatial Tempest here is completely pervasive or if there’s still a haven inside.”

Wang Wang: ”You mean that the Spatial Tempest here forms a ring, with an area inside that hasn’t been invaded by the tempest?”

Angel nodded. If the Spatial Tempest was part of what Feng had set up, then the Treasure Land shouldn’t have been destroyed by it.

Wang Wang furrowed its brow, puzzled: ”It’s impossible for a disaster like a Spatial Tempest to leave a safe haven in the middle. I’ve never heard of such a thing.”

Angel: ”But you’ve never heard of a Spatial Tempest lasting over four hundred years, have you? This Spatial Tempest’s existence is special in itself; maybe its interior is indeed hollow?”

Wang Wang couldn’t refute Angel’s words. This Spatial Tempest was unlike anything it had encountered before, so perhaps there was something special about it.

With that in mind, Wang Wang said: ”Let me go and check it out first.”

Angel: ”Thank you.”

Wang Wang didn’t say anything more, it nodded at Angel, then began to merge with the darkness, eventually disappearing.

After Wang Wang disappeared, Nami Midori languidly came to Angel’s side: ”Did it head into the Spatial Tempest?”

Angel nodded.

Nami Midori’s cool voice reached his ears: ”Did you feel it?”

Angel queried: ”Feel what?”

Nami Midori paused contemplatively: ”This Void Traveler’s Void travel is somewhat different.”

Nami Midori had observed other Void Travelers around; some also used similar Void travel abilities when it tossed out the petal.

It could still trace their Void travels and even judge their final landing points based on energy fluctuations.

But Wang Wang was different. At the moment it traversed the Void, Nami Midori couldn’t sense anything, as if it truly vanished from the world.

”Perhaps Wang Wang’s traverse happens in a higher-dimensional space?” Angel recalled the line that reached into the Mind Space and replied.

”Higher dimension?” Nami Midori was somewhat puzzled.

Angel briefly explained some wizards’ speculations about higher dimensions. In essence, wizards attributed unexplained phenomena to a new plane, only defined but never discovered.

Even with the explanation, Nami Midori was still baffled. Although its power was strong, it was ultimately just an Elemental Creature confined to the Tidal World.

Nami Midori: ”Higher dimension... what does the scenery look like there?”

”I’ve never experienced it either, who knows?” Angel said, but he couldn’t help recalling the Strange World he encountered when studying The Gate of Void, and the long ”tunnel” he experienced using its special effects... Could these places be higher-dimensional existences?

Angel didn’t know, but he still had a chance to explore.
