Warlock Apprentice

Chapter 2277: Chapter 2278: Wang Wang

Feeling the familiar fluctuations received by the Spirit Tentacle, Angel whispered: ”It’s you after all.”

Angel’s words made the nearby Void Travelers instinctively retreat a few steps.

Angel frowned and said nothing further.

It wasn’t until the surrounding Void Travelers calmed down again that he continued, ”Would you come in to talk?”

With that, Angel pushed open the door of the Vine House, wanting to talk alone with that unique Void Traveler. However, his action of opening the door, along with the ”creak” sound, scared some Void Travelers into retreating again.

This group of Void Travelers was more cautious and timid than Angel had imagined.

Only the enlarged version of the Void Traveler appeared relatively composed.

Angel: ”Or would you prefer to talk right here?”

The enlarged Void Traveler pondered for a moment, then transmitted a fluctuation through spiritual power: ”Okay, I’ll go in with you.”

Angel was about to say something when he felt as if a gentle breeze brushed past him. Looking back, he found that the unique Void Traveler had already appeared inside the Vine House.

Angel remained outwardly calm, but inwardly he marveled. He had always known that Void Travelers were fast; after all, an ordinary Void Traveler could escape before Rhein and the Ironclad Granny, let alone this unique Void Traveler. But even with prior impressions, seeing this scene still startled Angel.

Its speed was frighteningly fast.

Angel took a deep breath and softly nodded towards it, then spoke to Toby in the distance: ”Stay outside, don’t scare them.”

Toby also seemed to understand the traits of Void Travelers and did not respond in its usual chirping way but rather gave Angel a gentle nod. Yet even such a subtle gesture made the Void Travelers in the Cloudtop Garden a bit timid.

Angel trusted Toby’s discretion and decided not to say more, lest he scare this group of faint-hearted creatures again.

He closed the door of the Vine House.

Angel and the unique Void Traveler sat opposite each other.

Originally, Angel intended to construct a Barrier to isolate sound from escaping, but considering that Void Travelers didn’t speak and all communication depended on spiritual fluctuations, he decided against it.

”Before we start talking, why not introduce yourself first?” Angel said, ”My name is Anger Pat, how shall I address you?”

”Names aren’t important in our race; we always know who is who and never mistake each other.”

Angel raised an eyebrow slightly: ”But I’m not one of your race.”

After a moment of silence, a slightly hesitant spiritual fluctuation came through: ”Alright, if a name is necessary, you may call me... Wang Wang.”

Wang Wang? In the Wizards’ Realm’s common language, this word has no meaning; it’s an onomatopoeic word generally referring to a dog’s bark.

”It’s a nice name,” Angel insincerely complimented.

Though Wang Wang did not transmit information, Angel inexplicably felt that his praise made the other very happy.

”Mr. Wang Wang or Ms. Wang Wang, could you tell me why you’re called Wang Wang?” Angel asked softly, for the term ”Wang Wang” referred to a dog’s bark, which intrigued Angel.

There should be no dogs in the Void... hmm, there probably aren’t.

How did it come up with this name? Angel actually had a suspicion that needed confirmation.

”We do not differentiate between male and female, so you can call me either gentleman or lady.” Wang Wang paused and continued transmitting information via spiritual power: ”This name was given to me by that Lord, so if you really want to know my name, you can call me this.”

”That Lord?” Angel squinted slightly and reached out to point in the air.

An Illusion appeared abruptly between them.

It was an adorable and endearing Dalmatian. However, the cuteness was just its disguise; in reality, it was a mysterious living creature of unknown level and not low danger.

The master of the Dalmatian was none other than Dim, the famous Minister of Arms of the Nightmare Realm.

”Is it this one?” Angel asked.

Wang Wang nodded: ”Yes.”

Angel pursed his lips. Although he had some suspicion, getting the truth still amused him a bit. He wondered if he should inform it that ”Wang Wang” was not a name but a meaningless bark?

Seeing Wang Wang’s recognition and pride in this name, in the end, Angel decided to leave it be; ignorance can be bliss.

After exchanging names, Angel finally addressed the main issue.

”It was you who kept peering at me in the Void earlier, wasn’t it? Why did you do it?” Angel was curious about the relationship between Wang Wang and the Dalmatian but decided to start the conversation with the main topic.

”We just wanted to find you.”

According to Wang Wang’s account, they peered at Angel from the Void merely to locate his position. However, Angel had been constantly moving, so in order to pinpoint his location, they had to peer at him multiple times.

”How did you determine my location?” Angel was curious. Could there be some mark left on him that allowed these Void Travelers to pinpoint his location across a vast Void?

”We can sense the general direction of other creatures through their aura. This is also the survival method that allows us to evade the hunting of Liani demon whales in the Void. I memorized your aura when we first met.” Wang Wang paused and continued: ”But using aura alone, we can only vaguely sense direction, not precise location. We locked onto your location because we obtained this.”

While speaking, Wang Wang spat out a small object from its mouth.

Angel looked closely and realized it was a golden hair.

Almost at first glance, Angel confirmed that this golden hair should be his.

His hair ending up in Wang Wang’s possession puzzled Angel, causing his brows to furrow in confusion.

It was well-known that after stepping onto the path of wizardry, Sanders warned him that the first thing to do in order to survive in the Wizards’ Realm was self-restraint, because sometimes a nail or a strand of hair could become a medium for other wizards to curse him.

Angel also took Sanders’ advice to heart, being very strict about his biological control. Whether it was body hair, bodily fluids, or even secreted pheromones, in special circumstances, Angel would make sure to clear them.

Thus, the appearance of this strand of golden hair in Wang Wang’s mouth made Angel very concerned.

Angel recalls that the last time he lost hair was when he was an apprentice at Silent Hill, where his hair was burned by the Fire Spirit. Plus, after being targeted by the perverted Bogura obsessed with ”golden hair,” Angel simply decided to shave it all off.

At that time, the hair Angel shaved off was also dealt with and should not have remained.

When did Wang Wang get that strand of golden hair? Where did he get it from?

Before Angel could ask, Wang Wang provided the answer himself: ”This hair is yours, it was given to me by the Lord.”

When Wang Wang mentioned ”the Lord,” he pointed to the illusion of the Dalmatian floating in the air.

”The Dalmatian gave my hair to you?” Angel confirmed again.

”Yes.” Wang Wang nodded.

Angel was perplexed. If the Dalmatian gave Wang Wang his hair, where did the Dalmatian get it?

Angel couldn’t recall the Dalmatian ever pulling hair from his body... wait, that’s not right.

Angel suddenly remembered something, although in his memory, the Dalmatian never pulled his hair, but once in Sleepless City, the Dalmatian did swallow Angel.

At that time, in the Dalmatian’s stomach, Angel saw various mysterious signs, which later formed the basis for his research on Mysterious Concrete Objects.

And during the time inside the Dalmatian’s stomach, Angel was indeed unconscious.

If the Dalmatian took his hair while he was unconscious, Angel truly wouldn’t know.

Moreover, Angel couldn’t even be sure if the Dalmatian only plucked his hair, or if it might have also collected some of his body fluids.

Thinking about it like this, Angel recalled that the last time Minister Nuka hosted a banquet in the Mushroom Garden of Xinnai Land, the Dalmatian descended from the Nightmare Realm without warning. Angel was very puzzled at the time, wondering why the Dalmatian would suddenly appear then.

Could it be that, because it held his body hair, it sensed his presence and descended?

Although this was merely a conjecture of Angel’s, it carried an inexplicable self-confidence. The fact that his body hair ended up in the Dalmatian’s possession was indisputable. Maybe, his conjecture did hold some truth.

”Damn it, taking advantage of someone!” Angel couldn’t help but curse inwardly... Although slightly angry, he calmed down upon remembering that the Dalmatian had helped him several times.

Wang Wang, unaware of Angel’s internal musings, continued speaking to himself: ”With your hair, we can sense your position more clearly. Following your trail, we quickly found our way here.”

Angel: ”I want to know, when did the Dalmatian give you my hair? Was it the last time at the boiling gentleman’s place when I let you go?”

Wang Wang shook his head: ”No.”

”Not that time?” Angel couldn’t help raising his voice: ”Did you meet later on? Didn’t it return to the Nightmare Realm?”

Could the Dalmatian have sneaked out of the Nightmare Realm later on?

While Angel was confused, Wang Wang provided an answer: ”The Lord summoned me, so I went.”

However, this answer only puzzled Angel even more.

”You can go to the Nightmare Realm?” Angel asked, a little surprised.

”If the Nightmare Realm is the strange world where the Lord resides, then I can indeed go.” Wang Wang answered earnestly.

Angel: ”Since you’ve been to the Dalmatian’s world, can you describe what kind of world it is?”

Wang Wang pondered it for a moment and did not refuse.

As Wang Wang described it, bizarre images appeared in Angel’s mind.

Due to the Dalmatian’s summons, Wang Wang went directly to the Dalmatian’s domain. Although he didn’t visit other parts, just the fortress where the Dalmatian lived, Wang Wang saw many wondrous things.

Air that, when inhaled, turns to puppet voices, clouds that weep and drop plush toys, statues with rotating heads, a headless cat lady that dances...

In Wang Wang’s view, these seemingly whimsical items all contained terrifying energy waves. Especially the dancing headless cat lady, whose casual aura left it paralyzed with fear.

One must know that even when faced with the pressure released by Rhein or Ironclad Granny, Void Travelers like Wang Wang remain unimpressed. In front of the boiling gentleman, those Void Travelers even managed to band together in resistance.

What’s more, Wang Wang is one of the stronger Void Travelers, with an even more formidable immunity to pressure. However, encountering that dancing headless cat lady paralyzed it completely, hinting at the immense strength of its opponent.

Perhaps, pinnacle of Legend? Or even... higher.

Creatures similar to the headless cat lady were not uncommon on the Dalmatian’s domain. Although Wang Wang hadn’t seen all of them personally, he could sense their presence.

Even though Wang Wang was bolder than other Void Travelers, it wasn’t by much; faced with such terrifying entities, he dared not act rashly. After meeting the Dalmatian once, he hastily left the bizarre world.

After listening to Wang Wang’s recounting, Angel could already confirm that it was indeed the Nightmare Realm he visited. Apart from the Nightmare Realm, Angel couldn’t think of any other place belonging to that eerie world.

”How did you get there...” Angel raised his head, ready to continue questioning, yet saw Wang Wang trembling all over, its soft, ”snot-like body” quivering alongside.

”What are you doing?”

Only upon asking did Angel discover that Wang Wang was terrified... Just recalling those scenes left it utterly terrified.

Wang Wang: ”That dancing headless cat lady, simply terrifying...”

Angel was silent for a moment: ”Actually, it shouldn’t be the most terrifying. You should think about whose domain you went to.”

Wang Wang was stunned for a moment before suddenly realizing: ”...That’s right, the most terrifying is, the Lord.”

Wang Wang looked up at the illusion of the Dalmatian that remained floating in midair, slightly dazed.

”Don’t dwell on it, let’s continue.” Angel called Wang Wang back to attention: ”Can you tell me how you traveled to the Nightmare Realm? Was it your ability or some other method?”

Wang Wang pondered for quite a while before releasing a mental wave in reply: ”I can pinpoint the target’s location by following the aura and traverse the Void.”

Void traversal?! Angel wasn’t unfamiliar with such abilities. However, those were powers unique to terrifying Void Creatures, with massive bodies as large as mountains and unimaginably thick shells to traverse the Void. Otherwise, with so many unpredictable hazards in the Void, ordinary physical bodies couldn’t possibly accomplish spatial traversal.

And Wang Wang, who wasn’t very powerful, actually possessed this ability?!

”Is this your ability, or do all Void Travelers have similar abilities?”
