Chapter 2276: Chapter 2277: Reunion

”Will it take the bait like this?” Nami Midori looked at Angel with doubt.

After Angel had recounted the tale of the Void Traveler, he then released waves of energy in the nearby void. Nami Midori initially thought it was a trap to capture the Void Traveler. Upon sensing it, she realized Angel was merely wrapping a brief message with energy.

The gist of the message was: ”If you have something to say, just come to see me. If you keep peeping in the void, I’ll get angry.”

On the surface, it sounded like a tone used to soothe a child.

”Take the bait?” Angel shook his head. ”No, I’m not trying to capture it. I just want to talk and find out why it keeps spying on me.”

Nami Midori: ”Didn’t you say earlier that the Void Traveler is weak, timid, and lacks the ability to communicate?”

Angel: ”Indeed, the vast majority of Void Travelers might lack the intelligence to communicate with other species. However, the one I saw earlier was different...”

Just before, when Angel stepped through the Light Gate, he saw a Void Traveler fleeing. Unlike ordinary Void Travelers, this one was larger and fatter.

It was the special Void Traveler he had once seen in the presence of the Boiling Gentleman, trapped inside a golden ornate birdcage.

Because he had come into close contact with it before, Angel knew that this larger version of the Void Traveler was capable of communication.

And because Angel recognized this Void Traveler, he decided to leave a message, indicating that it could come to see him if it had something to discuss.

After all, back then, Angel had saved it from the Boiling Gentleman. Although it was at the request of the Dalmatian, he was the one who did the deed.

After hearing Angel’s account, Nami Midori asked, ”Will that special Void Traveler you mentioned listen to the message and come to see you?”

Angel shrugged, ”I don’t know either.”

If the Void Traveler can remember the kindness of being released, it might indeed come to see Angel.

Even if it doesn’t, Angel isn’t too concerned. As he said earlier to Nami Midori, the individual strength of Void Travelers is very weak. Even the larger version is not strong.

So no matter how much the Void Traveler stirs, Angel won’t be afraid. Even though they have a natural advantage in the void and are incredibly fast, if they keep spying on Angel, setting a trap to catch them wouldn’t be difficult.

Because he was certain of this and aware of the ”timid” nature of Void Travelers, Angel left words that seemed to have the tone of soothing a child. Because if the tone were too harsh, Angel worried that the Void Traveler would flee out of timidity.

Nami Midori gave Angel a deep look. Although Angel expressed uncertainty about whether the other party would come, Nami Midori felt that Angel seemed quite confident.

Nami Midori thought for a while and didn’t ask further. Instead, she said, ”Do as you wish. Since the Void Traveler isn’t strong and it’s due to a racial ability that it can spy from afar, I won’t bother with this matter.”

Nami Midori put away the floating flower and then swayed towards the Light Gate: ”I’m leaving first. If there’s anything, you can contact me through the floating flower outside the Vine House.”

After saying this, Nami Midori’s figure merged with the Light Gate and disappeared.

Angel didn’t linger long in the void either. He only reinforced the energy wave of his message once more before returning to the Tidal World.

After returning to the Vine House, Angel sat quietly in front of the portrait, pondering the issue of the Void Traveler in his mind.

Angel wasn’t afraid of the weak Void Travelers. But he was very curious as to why the Void Traveler would spy on him?

Nami Midori had asked this question earlier, too.

The answer Angel gave at the time was: ”Maybe it has something to discuss with me, but because it’s too timid, each time, it only peeks for a moment and ultimately, due to its fear, doesn’t take the final step.”

This answer, although based on the traits of Void Travelers, was still speculative and couldn’t be proven.

Moreover, the answer also raised a hypothetical question: Why would the Void Traveler find him to have something to discuss?

Was it to repay the kindness of being saved? Or was there another reason?

Besides, Angel really wanted to know how the Void Traveler determined his position.

Every time Angel moved, it seemed that the other party could lock onto his position in the void. Was this their ability too?

Angel knew very little about the Void Traveler, yet he had many questions.

And these questions now remain unanswered unless that Void Traveler sees the message in the void and decides to meet him.

Angel shook his head and decided to put these doubts aside for now. The matter of the Void Traveler was ultimately a trivial one, and it was better to focus on the issue of the Spatial Tempest.

.....

As Angel was again lost in thought, in the dark void, a group of ”snot monsters” invisible to the naked eye appeared at the location where Angel left the message.

These soft and floppy snot monsters were the Void Travelers.

All the Void Travelers were now gathered around an energy ball.

They were like newborns, curious about everything, especially the glowing energy ball rarely seen in the vast void. More importantly, this energy ball wasn’t aggressive and exuded a very gentle and comforting aura.

However, this gathering didn’t last long. A noticeably larger and fatter Void Traveler approached from afar.

With its appearance, all the Void Travelers gathered around the energy ball instinctively parted to create a path, allowing it to come through smoothly.

This special Void Traveler came next to the energy ball, observed it for a moment, and finally nudged it gently.

The energy ball immediately crumbled into pieces.

Simultaneously, the message stored within the energy ball began to propagate in all directions.

All the Void Travelers sensed this message, but most of them couldn’t understand its meaning. Only that special Void Traveler, upon receiving the message, fell into deep thought.

After a while, a voice emerged from its mouth: ”He’ll get angry... it’s time to go see him.”

The ethereal voice echoed in the void, eventually fading away.

With the sound gone, the nearby Void Travelers, as if receiving some signal, disappeared one by one.

Leaving only the eternal, unchanging dark void.

.....

The Tidal World, daylight recedes, the night descends.

In the sway of time, another day passes.

Angel still sits idly inside the Vine House, pondering over how to enter the Spatial Tempest, yet he remains without a plan.

Feeling the sky darken, Angel lets out a deep sigh.

The Wizards’ Realm has endured for countless years, yet many Sages have not found a way to enter the Spatial Tempest without reaching the Legend level. He, having been in the Wizards’ Realm for less than ten years, and wishing to challenge such longstanding authority, is evidently overestimating his abilities.

”With my current abilities, there’s no way I can enter the Spatial Tempest. I should consider handling this based on the setup by Feng...” Angel mused, assuming that if he was still in the game, Feng must have left clues to the solution. Since there were none in the Green Forest Domain, he planned to return to the Malaya Ice Mountain and White Cloud Village to see if there were any clues left by Feng there.

However, leaving the Green Forest Domain would have to be postponed for two days.

Because tomorrow, Angel needed to stay in the Wilderness of Dreams, to meet Sanders’ appointment and allow Sumishe to assume Authority.

It was already around eight in the evening, just four hours away from the new day. Angel wasn’t sure when Sanders would enter the Wilderness of Dreams specifically, but he figured, since there was nothing much to do in reality, he might as well stay in the Wilderness of Dreams.

Angel stood up, preparing to go outside to find Toby. To ask whether it would stay in reality or follow him to the Wilderness of Dreams.

As soon as he pushed open the door, Angel saw Toby perched beside a cluster of small yellow flowers resembling bells.

This row of yellow flowers is called Bluebell Chime.

It’s called ”Bluebell Chime” because its petals initially display a blue color, but once stimulated externally, its color changes to yellow, and it emits a crisp and pleasant sound from the bloom within its core.

Each Bluebell Chime emits a different sound upon external stimulation, just like a natural scale.

Ever since Toby discovered the secret of the Bluebell Chime yesterday, as a music-loving bird, it was immediately attracted by its trait and stayed outside, touching different scales of Bluebell Chime with its beak, playing ”music” all night long.

Even when Angel walked out the door, Toby still hadn’t gotten bored.

Seeing Toby so engrossed, Angel did not immediately interrupt, but instead stood at the doorway, listening to the sound of the Bluebell Chime for a while.

He had to admit, the sound the Bluebell Chime made was truly substantial. Even when Toby, who didn’t have a musical sense, randomly combined the sounds of the Bluebell Chime, it was not chaotic but rather quite pleasant.

However pleasant it might be, this was only relative; listening for too long was still a burden on the ears. Angel could only stand it for two to three minutes before he couldn’t take it anymore.

He stepped forward, interrupting Toby’s engrossed performance.

With a slight look of dissatisfaction on Toby’s face, Angel explained his intention to go to the Wilderness of Dreams.

Initially, he wanted to ask if Toby would like to go with him, but before Angel could finish his sentence, Toby shook its wings and chirped: ”I know, I’ll protect you! You go ahead!”

After saying that, Toby eagerly dived back into the musical allure of the Bluebell Chime.

Seeing this, Angel understood that Toby wasn’t interested in entering the Wilderness of Dreams. It made sense, every time Toby went to the Wilderness of Dreams, Angel would arrange for it to descend beside Greya. Naturally, upon seeing Toby, Greya would drag it off for training. To Toby, being restrained and trained in the Wilderness of Dreams was less appealing than wandering freely in reality.

In fact, Angel could have chosen not to have Toby descend next to Greya, but since Greya was Toby’s original owner, and Toby now followed Angel in reality, it seemed right for Toby to spend time with Greya in the Wilderness of Dreams, given that she loved it dearly as well.

Unexpectedly, this arrangement seemed to have made Toby a bit apprehensive about entering the Wilderness of Dreams.

Angel considered, perhaps they should occasionally switch roles with Greya, letting her play the gentle part while he took on the strict role to train Toby in reality, helping it readjust?

Nonetheless, even switching roles wouldn’t happen right now.

Since Toby didn’t plan to enter the Wilderness of Dreams, Angel didn’t persuade further. Instead, he returned to the Vine House, readying himself to enter the Wilderness of Dreams.

However, just as Angel was about to cast the Dream Entering Technique on himself, he suddenly realized the music had stopped.

The melodic sound of the Bluebell Chime had suddenly vanished.

Though he was in the Vine House, which due to its many crevices couldn’t block sound, and Angel hadn’t set up a Barrier against noise, why then had the Bluebell Chime gone silent?

Had Toby grown tired of it?

Or perhaps, had something else captured Toby’s attention, like eating or drinking?

Angel waited for a while, but no sound reached his ears. After pondering for a moment, he extended a Spirit Tentacle, intending to peek outside to see what happened to Toby.

The moment the Spirit Tentacle reached the outside, Angel saw Toby among the flowers.

Toby was fine; it was just tilting its head, its striking red eyes fixed on something.

This action... felt inexplicably familiar to Angel.

The last time Toby was being watched, it had struck the same pose.

Could it be, the Void Traveler was observing from the shadows again? Angel, filled with suspicion, activated his spiritual power’s vision, gazing towards where Toby was looking, through the energy perspective.

Once he made out the specifics, Angel was momentarily stunned.

This time, it wasn’t the Void Traveler peeping from the shadows—it had descended directly into the Tidal World.

And, it wasn’t just one.

At a glance, over a hundred Void Travelers had appeared near the garden!

If a wizard were present, they’d likely be so shocked their eyes would pop out. In the records thus far, information about Void Travelers in the Southern Domain Wizard World is exceedingly limited, mostly mentioned in just a few texts without detailed descriptions, merely noting encounters.

No one has ever captured a Void Traveler, as they’re extremely scarce and have no fixed range of action. Moreover, their escape capabilities are extraordinarily strong, rendering traps futile.

Yet in this scarcely documented occurrence, over a hundred Void Travelers had appeared here - an absolute shock if word got out.

Among these hundred plus Void Travelers, one was incredibly unique, larger in size and positioning itself at the center of all other Void Travelers, like a king being surrounded.

And Toby, at this moment, was quietly locked in a stare with this unique Void Traveler.

This mutual gaze went on for quite a while until Angel’s Spirit Tentacle reached out from the Vine House. The unique Void Traveler seemed aware of this spirit probe and slowly shifted its gaze towards the Vine House.

”I have arrived.”
