Warhammer Divine Throne

”As the Lady’s First Divine Chosen and Holy Sanctuary Grand Mage, I am an extremely excellent carrier of divine power and magic power. If the vampires are truly planning to resurrect Nagash, it makes sense for them to target me,” Mogiana gently leaned her head against Laine’s shoulder, sighing, ”The resurrection of the Master of the Undead requires a very large amount of magic and a magic carrier. Now all my magic power has been drained, yet the vampires still need my body as a shell to bring Nagash back.”

”But you survived, Mogiana, and that’s what’s most important,” Laine said softly, ”Magic can slowly be restored, but if you lose your life... then there’s truly nothing left.”

”Mogiana Le Fei, that’s my full name, don’t tell anyone other than the Lady,” Mogiana whispered in Laine’s ear, ”I have a question, Laine, can you answer me honestly?”

”I will try my best to answer,” Laine smiled and shook his head.

”To save someone, do you really have to do... that kind of thing like last night? What if the other party is a man? Or an animal, do you also have to do... that kind of thing with them?” Mogiana asked with a blush, ”I don’t dislike you, I just feel it’s too strange that I’ve handed over my body, which I’ve lived with for decades, so completely to you. I mean, what if Francois or Julius had this problem, can you also do something like that to help them purify?”

”...Yes.” Laine nodded helplessly, but he immediately explained, ”But I definitely wouldn’t do that. I made that choice because it was the quickest, most effective, and easiest method.”

Laine then gestured with his hands, ”Typically, if the level of corruption isn’t severe, I have many other methods for purification. Lower efficiency isn’t a problem, because if you compare the human body to a castle, corruption is essentially a battle between the invaders and defenders. Whether victorious or defeated, it requires a process, and I just need to keep sending reinforcements and repair craftsmen; corruption isn’t difficult to overcome.”

This metaphor was quite appropriate, and Mogiana nodded repeatedly in understanding.

”However, your situation was different at that time; your castle not only had wide-open gates but also lacked any defenders inside, so I needed the most direct, quickest, and most effective method...” Laine didn’t continue because it wasn’t necessary. Mogiana was smart; many things only needed half to be said.

In fact, there was another method Laine didn’t mention: he could purify alongside his father, the Emperor. Laine would act as the intermediary, and the Emperor would use his supreme power to extract all Life Energy, and through Laine’s purification, reshape a new shell.

That’s something the Lake Fairy couldn’t do; her divine power leans toward life, whereas Laine’s power is purification—capable of purifying anything, including life, when necessary.

”Understood, so you have done that kind of thing with a few men?” Mogiana’s tone was unreadable.

”Not a single one!” Laine retorted, feeling uncomfortable, his expression scrunched.

”Then you’ve done that kind of thing with a few women?” Mogiana continued to ask.

”I don’t understand what you’re asking. If you mean purifying corruption and detoxification, then you’re the third. If you mean women I’ve been with, there are several,” Laine didn’t want to continue the conversation. He stood up and walked to the Holy Statue of the Lake Fairy.

”That dark elf too?” Mogiana raised her golden eyebrows.

”Yes... Now one thing is clear: the vampires want to resurrect the Master of the Undead Nagash. They’re trying to retrieve all of Nagash’s Nine Volumes along with enough sacrifices. Based on your experience, Mogiana, aside from the Nine Volumes, the kind of sacrifice needed for Nagash’s resurrection must be like you, a Deity’s First Divine Chosen or an Archbishop, capable of bearing a Deity’s temporary possession,” Laine turned, looking at Mogiana, dressed in a white gown, leaning against the cushion, ”I think, the Merciful Goddess Archbishop must have disappeared under similar circumstances; she’s certainly already become a vampire and been offered to Nagash.”

”...Ouch!” Mogiana tried to get out of bed, a ripping pain caused her to furrow her brow, letting out a soft cry, about to fall off the bed, Laine hurriedly held her, ”My Highness, please rest well!”

”Nagash wants to resurrect; relying solely on sacrifices like the Merciful Goddess Archbishop is definitely not enough. At his strongest, the Master of the Undead once destroyed many kingdoms of Nikohara single-handedly. Upon his first resurrection, he also once clashed with Charlemagne’s empire and briefly gained the upper hand,” Mogiana stretched out her hand to signal Laine to lift her up. Although the Lake God Witch had lost her power, her wisdom was untouched.

Laine picked her up and placed her on a wooden long bench, cushioning her with two seat cushions.

Mogiana’s face was pale; she leaned feebly against the soft back of the long bench and continued, ”Nagash wants to use a powerful shell for rebirth, yet even the Merciful Goddess Archbishop’s body can’t contain his filthy and massive soul. A Divine Chosen of the Main God level is what vampires ideally need as a sacrifice, such as... me, or the Justice Church’s Archbishop Vikma Beckman, or the incarnation of Hunting God and King of the Forest, Olein, or Great Yurik Pope Matak of the White Wolf War God, or the Goddess of Life Isa’s First Divine Chosen, High Elf Eternal Queen Ailarielle; their common features are grand magic power or divine power, capable of casting spells, and serving as a Deity’s vessel for a long time.”

”Then we can first exclude Great Yurik Pope Matak,” Laine shook his head first, ”White Wolf God dislikes magic; his followers almost exclusively choose melee combat. Although Matak has Yurik’s permission to summon the White Wolf Sacred Fire to attack enemies, he personally does not use magic, nor does he leave White Wolf City. Besides... My Highness, no matter which target, capturing them alive is extremely difficult.”

”Don’t underestimate vampires, Laine,” Mogiana gently nudged Laine with her bare little foot under her gown, seeming somewhat dissatisfied, ”Vampires are extensively infiltrated within the upper echelons of human nobility, Chaos Sect’s infiltration is everywhere, often forming impossible alliances, such as the vampires I encountered this time actually allied with some tree spirits; life and death can form pacts, is there anything these undead can’t accomplish?”

”...Your point is valid, My Highness. It seems we need to find a way to warn the empire and Wood Elves,” Laine contemplated aloud as he stood up, ”However, Mogiana, we first need to ensure your safety; the vampires are certainly searching for you. In your current weakened state, if you fall into their hands again... My suggestion is for you to rest in my castle.”

Mogiana wanted to retort, ”Is your castle safer than the Lake Fairy Cathedral? There are two hundred Holy Grail Knights stationed there.”

After considering various factors, the Lake God Witch finally nodded, consenting, sighing softly, ”It’s best not to let too many people know about my situation, or the Kingdom will surely fall into chaos. You and other Holy Grail Knights will have to take responsibility for retrieving the Potion Chalice.”

”Leave that to me,” Laine nodded, stood up, ”Rest well, My Highness. If you need anything, you can tell me directly or Ollica, she will arrange for you.”

Laine placed his hands on Mogiana’s shoulders, ”Last time, you protected me; now it’s my turn to protect you.”

Mogiana’s emerald eyes gleamed, she kissed Laine’s cheek, ”Be prepared, vampires won’t give up searching for me.”

”I understand.”

......

By the time Laine returned to the first floor, Angerong had arrived, the World-Devourer Primarch carrying a burlap sack filled with Blood Knights’ heads, including one Vampire Lord head, ”These guys surely came targeting you.”

Laine scrutinized the Vampire Lord’s sharp fangs, his expression serious, ”Vampires have not given up on searching for Mogiana.”

”Kasenberg! Dispatch someone to seek help from Mr. Francois immediately! Also, muster the troops, prepare for war!”

”Yes!”
