The Golem Mage

738: Genius Idea.

738: Genius Idea.

“That has to be the most dangerous idea I’ve ever heard!

How exactly do you plan to oversee all six battlefields by yourself?” the chubby Fifth Elder, who had been silent until now, finally spoke, his tone laden with skepticism.

“Which battlefield would you fight on?

Which would you prioritize?

How do you plan to lead all six battlefronts simultaneously?

Your idea doesn’t align with my understanding of war, Alec,” he added, crossing his arms as he awaited a response.

Even the Grand Elder nodded in agreement, as he interjected,

“Alec, you must understand, these are the lives of our clansmen we’re talking about, whether bound by blood or marriage into the clan, they’re putting their trust in the commanders, believing in the hierarchy we’ve built, even if we don’t impose it on them.”

The elders’ skeptical gazes bore into Alec, but he remained calm, listening patiently.

When they had finished, he began to speak with a steady resolve.

“I understand your concerns and what’s at stake, that’s exactly why I’m prepared to take on this responsibility.

I ask you to appoint me as the commander and allow me to meet all the mages who will fight that day, once I’ve done so, I will appoint six sub-commanders, one for each tier to operate under my leadership,” Alec explained, his voice unwavering.

“You’re in a tight spot.

It’s either you send our mages into battle without a capable leader and risk a massacre due to poor command decisions, or you take a chance on me and let me prove to you that I’m worthy of your trust,” Alec continued, his tone sharpening.

“One more thing, know that I would never put the clan in harm’s way, that’s why I’m prepared to give my all, even if it means exhausting my resources to ensure we win this battle with minimal casualties, and my record from the Blood Moon battlefield speaks for itself.

I’ve proven my worth before, and I’m ready to do so again,” he concluded, his conviction evident in his eyes.

The room fell into a heavier silence than before, the elders now deep in thought.

Alec’s words carried weight, and they couldn’t ignore the fact that he and his Gang were the only Gordons clansmen with a perfect win rate on the Blood Moon battlefield, a feat still unmatched by anyone else.

Every war Alec had participated in had ended in decisive, overwhelming victories.

He wasn’t merely part of these triumphs, but his name was always central, standing out as a key catalyst for the battle success.

Now, Alec wasn’t just presenting an option to the elders; he was making it clear that their preferred alternatives weren’t even close to the level of calculated risk his proposal offered.

Alec’s promise to empty his resources to bring his plan to fruition added weight to his resolve, though the elders weren’t entirely sure what that entailed as they still saw him as a member of the younger generations with no income whatsoever.

Even so, they were beginning to lean toward taking the gamble on Alec’s bold proposition, however, all their deliberations were moot unless the Patriarch gave his command to approve it.

Their collective gaze shifted to him, sharp and expectant, the Patriarch was the one who had landed them in this predicament, and now that it was his grandson who was offering a potential solution instead of him they made sure the pressure in their stares was palpable, bordering on unfriendly.

Sighing, the Patriarch addressed the room.

“I see what you’re all trying to do, but I won’t let you guilt-trip me, from what Alec has said, it’s clear he has a solid plan, a far better option than us wandering without one.

So, I say let’s take that gamble on him”

“Though I cherish my grandson and would prefer he didn’t fight in the Blood Moon battlefield, but he bleeds red like every other Gordons clansmen, and if he claims he’s capable of solving this tactical dilemma, I’ll gladly grant him my blessing.” His words rang with finality, effectively sealing the decision as a command to be executed.

“Now that this is settled, I suggest we organize the participating mages and allow them to meet their new commander, as Alec requested, with that, I call for the dismissal of this meeting,” the Patriarch concluded, preparing to strike the armrest of his throne to signal the meeting’s end.

“Please wait,” Alec interjected before the Patriarch could finalize the session.

“I have one more matter I’d like to discuss with you all.”

The meeting extended for another thirty minutes as Alec explained how he had used the Gordons clan as a front to sell pills to his academy while covering up for himself.

When questioned about the source of these pills, Alec nonchalantly revealed that he had picked up alchemy as a skill and hadn’t realized his natural talent for it until it caused almost every great academy worries.

Initially, the elders were skeptical, finding the claim both surprising and perplexing as they couldn’t claim they had taught Alec anything about alchemy.

However, Alec silenced their doubts by tossing two bottles onto the table, one containing Tier 6 cultivation pills and the other filled with Tier 5 pills, each bottle holding ten pills.

He explained that these should be given to Draco and Zack to assist them in breaking through their respective rank, it was only then that the elders began to take him seriously about being an alchemist.

Normally, ten such pills wouldn’t have been sufficient to push both mages into the next realm, however, since they were already at the peak of their respective realms and on the verge of a breakthrough, Alec knew these pills would expedite the process.

This would allow them to emerge from seclusion sooner, ready to assist the clan when needed.

Alec also made them promise to keep his alchemical endeavours a secret, as he plans to continue using the clan as a shield to protect his identity, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the clan’s image as a shadow screen.

Furthermore, he proposed establishing an auction house in the outer region once it was rebuilt, where a limited number of these pills could be sold when the time was right.

The elders had many questions about Alec’s talents, especially the Patriarch but they didn’t want to pry into Alec’s secrets and since he was helping the clan with his gift they were content with just that, but the Patriarch, in particular, found himself both proud and overwhelmed.

His grandson was growing at a pace that was difficult to keep up with, he was not yet the patriarch, and yet he already started to contribute significantly to the development of the clan’s strength.

Alec even pledged to leave 70% of the auction proceeds to the Gordons clan.

The Patriarch initially wanted to reject the offer, feeling that no matter how much he enjoyed minor benefits from exploiting Alec’s hard work, this was too much.

However, Alec stood firm, arguing that this was not a personal business but a clan endeavour, with the Gordons clan as the rightful owners.

Alec went further, outlining this share of the money would cover his plans to pay rent for the auction house space, compensate enforcers who would guard the goods, and provide salaries to the clansmen who would serve as guards and hosts during auctions.

His detailed understanding of business logistics and clan economics left the Patriarch and the elders once again marvelling at his foresight and growing maturity.

Alec wasn’t just offering the clan 70% of the profits, he was creating a sustainable business venture that would provide a new influx of revenue while also offering clansmen part-time jobs that won’t affect their regular duties.

Their wages would also come from a small portion of the 70% something the elders haven’t even thought of giving but they knew such wages would bring a smile on the face of many, with the remainder of the money going into the clan treasury to fund further development of the clan.

As Alec highlighted these points during the meeting, the elders couldn’t help but realize he was thinking far ahead of them and couldn’t bear to reject the share Alec was giving them easily without any conflict.

Because if this venture of his succeeded like he outlined and the clan steadily grew with the aid of Alec’s pills, there was a genuine possibility they could elevate their status to that of a certified High Tier clan.

This thought lingered in the minds of the elders as they returned to their abodes after the meeting.
