The explosion that had devastated half of the stage failed to impact Alec, who had just claimed victory in the inter academy competition.

Due to his heightened senses he was able to detect the danger of the descending beam long before anyone else, since it was aimed directly at his position.

All this was largely possible due to the steady growth of his mental stats, as Alec noticed the impending attack, he didn’t even hesitate, as he casted a large earthen dome that shielded not only himself but also his nearby teammates that had joined him in celebration .

Even though new notifications flooded his system after he had defeated Dragov, he totally paid no attention to them; as an Abyss invasion was unfolding before him.

His body was gradually healing as he swallowed some Tier 5 healing pills, and when the energy from his recent breakthrough surged through into his body, he swiftly redirected that power toward the Veil of Ashes’ mana reserves.

This allowed him to recover the 50,000 mana he had expended to gain the upper hand in the earlier battle against Dragov, ensuring that he wouldn’t waste the replenishing energy coursing through his veins.

Alec sensed the casting of an ancient spell, and as his earth wall crumbled after it had fully withstood the force of the attack, he witnessed a baleful energy emanating from the blood moon.

Transparent blood red shackles began to ensnare the mages seated in the first and second VIP sections, as well as a few from the third.

Alec was taken aback by how quickly events had escalated, one moment, he was triumphing in the inter-academy competition; and the next, a dimensional invasion was underway, with a new spell restraining all high tier mages from participating in the fight.

To Alec, this was not looking good at all, as most of the people in the arena who weren’t high tier mages were primarily civilians, who used their magic for support or their everyday tasks.

Not many of them were fighters; most were just nobles or individuals who had come merely to watch the final match except from the students of the academies present, which meant that over 80% of the people in the stadium would be completely useless in this fight as only Mid Rank realm Demonkin came out of that Space gate.

The only allies Alec felt he could rely on were the other academy teams in the third VIP section.

Although most of them had lost in the competition, but they were still strong mages capable of defending the arena until the non fighting individuals in the crowd dispersed.

When Alec glanced at the Bloodline Academy team, who seemed disorganized without their leader, he threw a Tier 6 healing pill toward them, which Damien caught.

“Don’t just stare at me, feed it to him!

We need all the help we can get!” Alec barked at Damien, who appeared startled that Alec would casually give him a Tier 6 healing pill for Dragov.

Damien imagined himself in Alec’s position, and no matter how hard he considered it, he knew he wouldn’t be willing to share such a valuable resource; he would save it for himself in case of an emergency.

Nevertheless, after Alec’s urgent command, he quickly helped the unconscious Dragov swallow the pill.

As Alec turned his gaze toward the first Demonkin who had emerged from the space rift, he noticed that it too was affected by the laws of the blood moon and was shackled by the blood chains manifested by the Blood moon’s power.

“Don’t even bother trying to move, until the end of the Blood Moon, no mage or lifeform of Tier 7 realm and above will be able to escape this spell,” the devilishly handsome demon declared, his voice dripping with cruel satisfaction.

His piercing gaze swept over the VIP area, where several human mages strained against the blood red chains binding them.

Their futile efforts only seemed to amuse him further, as he knew the power of the Blood Moon was one which couldn’t be broken until the end of the blood moon duration.

“Kill them all,” the demon commanded, his tone cold and merciless.

“Don’t hold back, massacre to your heart’s content, ensure fear takes root in their hearts once more, let them know terror, and let the blood of the capital’s elites herald the resurgence of our race.”

Though still shackled, the demon’s smile was one of chilling triumph as he gave his order, his words igniting chaos and despair throughout the arena.

“Are you not scared of getting killed here, Azgoth the Infernal?

Just because you have this entire area locked in a Blood Moon spell doesn’t mean that someone outside won’t realize the abnormal situation unfolding within, just think if a high rank Mage arrives, you could very well meet your end here today,” the golden knight Mage standing behind the king’s throne warned.

A murmur swept through the crowd as some clueless onlookers finally learned the name of the demon leading the attack, causing them to cringe in fear.

The name Azgoth was not an unknown name, Azgoth is one of the Monarch Lords of the Demonkin race.

Killing him would not only be a monumental victory but would also save thousands from potential deaths in the future, as Azgoth had made a name for himself on the battlefield as a demon who relished in slaughtering lower tier Mages for his amusement.

It was as if he had grown bored from the lack of battle for so long; so in a twisted desire to see blood, he had orchestrated this attack on the capital and to ensure that nothing goes wrong he made sure to cast a restraining spell using the Blood moon’s power, and not only was he ensnared but also he had managed to trap all the high rank Mages present.

“Oh, I’m so scared!” he mocked.

“But I’m sure they won’t notice our unusual movements while they’re preoccupied with repelling the Blood Clans, the Lycan packs, the Dragoniac warriors, and the Zombie hordes attacking from all four sides.”

“And let me assure you, no one will be coming to your rescue anytime soon, the forces involved in this Blood Moon war are far greater than anything any of you have ever seen, just be prepared to be massacred!” he exclaimed, his head thrown back in ecstasy as his tail wiggled in excitement.

“You!

Move and help those lower ranked individuals out of the arena!

They’ll only be cannon fodder if they stay, as for the Mid rank Mages, all of them must remain to fight!” While Azgoth delivered his menacing speech, he was taken aback by the calm voice of a human Mage from the center of the blasted stage, issuing commands without a hint of fear on his face.

This intrigued him deeply, as he had expected everyone to be cowering in fear by now.

He certainly hadn’t anticipated that someone would remain completely calm and issue orders, which was how Alec caught Azgoth’s eye.

The demon, now more intrigued by Alec than his subordinates’ slaughter, as he decided to test the human’s limits, he leaned back, his gaze fixed on Alec with a mix of amusement and anticipation.

“Hey, you lot, go kill him!” he commanded, gesturing lazily.

As a batch of flaming skinned Demonkin immediately charged toward Alec, their fiery bodies radiating menace as they closed in.

“Come on,” the demon muttered to himself, a wicked grin spreading across his face.

“Show me how far your resolve can take you.”
