The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 217: “Just Met a Few Times Is All”

This time, Limgir was speechless.

Shien on the other hand was looking at Limgir with an interesting expression.

”Well? Didnʼt you want to come with?”

Shien said something like he was testing Limgir.

This made Limgir even more unsure just what to say, as well as getting him to raise his guard.

(Is this a trap?)

Limgir considered this matter.

It canʼt be helped. Shien should know full well that while a lot of people quite envy and hate him on the surface, if they could manage to meet the princess through him and make some kind of connection with her, then thereʼs no way that theyʼd refuse.

In the beginning, back when Vivian let Shien to meet Lucy, didnʼt those noblemen all swarm Vivian like they were flies, trying to get her to act as an introduction to let them meet the princes?

Now though, Shien is now far closer to Lucy than Vivian was, being able to see the princess pretty much every day. Every time he goes to the princessʼs room, heʼd end up staying for an hour at least. With that kind of relationship, heʼd definitely have an easy time bringing anyone with him.

Given that, Shien would definitely fell like if some young master of a noble family was trying to get close to him, then if they tried to also accompany him to meet the princess, then theyʼd definitely have ulterior motives.

In other words, in that kind of situation, Shien would definitely believe that the other person was just trying to use him in order to get him to let them meet the princess.

In that case, Shien should definitely end up guarded against said other person.

Limgir thus believed that it as for that reason that Shien was so indifferent to him the last few days.

And Limgir did in fact actually have that kind of plan as well. He was hoping that he could end up forging some kind of relationship with Lucy through Shien.

But Limgir also knew well that it wasnʼt something that can be hurried. Otherwise, it would definitely fail.

Therefore, that suggestion that Limgir made just now really was just a joke.

He never imagined that Shien would actually just agree to that.

Could it be that he not fear being used by others?

Could it be that heʼs not afraid that others might end up forging a relationship with the princess, thus threatening his own relationship with her?

If it was Limgir, then he would definitely refuse any other man to tries to make contact with Lucy in order to prevent a situation where someone else got close to the princess, leaving him out in the cold.

And Limgir believed that anyone else would do the same.

That includes Shien as well.

In that case then…

(Is he trying to use this opportunity to give the princess a bad impression of me?)

If that one were to find out that Limgir was a man who wanted to make contact with her even if it meant sacrificing his relationship with Shien, then her impression of Limgir would definitely not be all that great.

Itʼs because, with that, his impure motives would end up far too obvious.

Thus, Limgir went silent for a bit before shaking his head with a smile.

”No. Thereʼs no need. I was only randomly joking about, so please donʼt mind it. I canʼt possibly disturb you and her highness.”

As someone who worked hard within the royal knights without showing any signs of chasing after Lucy, Limgir was a very patient man indeed.

Even though heʼd feel extremely frustrated every time he imagines Shien and Lucy happily chatting somewhere out of his sight. Even though he was also very tempted by Shienʼs suggestion, not wanting to wait to see and talk to that princess. However, he wonʼt do that if it means ruining his plans.

Thus, Limgir coolly told himself that he mustnʼt be reckless. That he must be patient.

So long as he could really develop a good relationship with Shien, then itʼs only a matter of time before he could use that relationship with Shien to meet her highness the princess.

Right now, the most important thing is not to jump on every little opportunity, regardless of the cost. No, itʼs to focus on laying the groundwork for the future.

Limgir didnʼt forget, after all, that besides using Shien to get closer to the princess, he also had another task. That task was to investigate Shien, perhaps even dig out the secrets behind his unique skill.

Thatʼs the main important point here.

Compared to that, the temptations before his eyes right now must be ignored.

Limgir so repeated that to himself in his mind.

However…

”Itʼs a bit late to say that now though, you know?”

Shien so shrugged as he said that, as if having detected something.

”The person in question is already coming.”

In response, Limgir froze for a moment before his expressions finally changed.

Itʼs because he could detect a certain magic power. An unbelievably familiar yet heart-pounding magic power had shown up.

Limgirʼs breathing involuntarily sped up.

He forcibly tried to suppress the excitement in his heart. He clenched his fists and breathed deeply before slowly turning around to look behind.

The next second, Limgir saw that figure that had appeared in his dreams who knows how many times.

Hair white as snow fluttered in the wind.

A powerful presence lingered in the air.

An awe-inspiring figure like it stepped out of a masterwork painting.

Crimson eyes flashed like the stars themselves, lighting up her perfect face.

That peerless princess slowly moved toward them, step by step.

”Your highness…”

Limgir couldnʼt help but utter those somewhat shy words.

Lucy had suddenly arrived here, appearing before Shien and Limgir.

”So youʼre here huh?”

An unbelievably beautiful voice was uttered from her mouth.

”Here I thought that you havenʼt arrived yet.” Lucy so spoke.

Her gaze landed upon Shien practically right away, paying basically no attention to Limgirʼs existence.

”…”

The excited Limgir instantly felt like a bucket of cold water was poured over him. His hand tightened, nearly making clenched fists.

Shien on the other hand just glanced at Lucy before speaking up casually.

”I just got here too. Rather, why did you come out?”

Shien never expected that Lucy would suddenly appear either.

Thereʼs of course a reason for that.

”Thereʼs a small matter that needs to be dealt with.”

Lucy didnʼt explain much. She only said that one sentence before turning to look at Limgir over at the side.

In response, Limgir bowed without even thinking.

”Royal knight, Limgir Stalim, greets your highness.”

After two years, Limgir finally managed to stand face to face with Lucy. He had finally given his name to Lucy.

Thatʼs right. This is Limgirʼs first real meeting up close with Lucy.

However, itʼs not like Lucy wouldnʼt know of him.

”I know of you. Youʼre Duke Baliʼs son. The prodigy of the ducal house that joined the royal knights two years ago, right?” Lucy seemed to have remembered all the details on Limgir and nodded as she spoke, ”I heard other speak of you. Youʼve done well during this time, and is even considered a great talent who may even be able to match Teacher Aldia in the future. As expected of the son of a ducal house.”

”I am unworthy of your highnessʼs praise.” Limgir lowered his head like he didnʼt dare to look straight at Lucy, ”Compared to your highness, someone like me is merely some insignificant dust orbiting a star.”

”You are too humble.” Lucy shook her head. However, she didnʼt say anything more. Instead, she glanced at Shien before glancing back at Limgir before asking, ”Are you two friends?”

Limgir didnʼt reply to that question.

He only looked toward Shien, wondering how Shien will answer.

Shien didnʼt disappoint him.

”We just met a few times is all.”

He replied truthfully with a hint of a smile.

”Is that so?”

Lucy nodded. However, she also withdrew her gaze from Limgir, no longer paying him any mind.

Limgir had noticed this detail.

And then, Limgirʼs heart completely sank.
