The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 141: That’s Completely Unfair Treatment

Why were Heroes so much stronger than everyone else, and were even entrusted with the hope of defeating the Demon King?

That was because they had both the powerful Holy Sword and unique skill.

The effect of a unique skill on oneʼs power doesnʼt even bear mentioning. It had already been repeated many times in the past. Whether one has such a skill, whether or not that skill is strong. Such factors can greatly influence oneʼs true strength. Its importance is even above that of levels or other skills, allowing all kinds of miracles to occur.

Take Shien for example. Without the [Heavenly Grace] unique skill, thereʼs no way that his level 24 self could have been able to slaughter a level 84 demon race elite like Baydr so easily.

Plus, when Shien brought up the fact that he had a unique skill, no one in the transport squad doubted his ability to slaughter Baydr anymore. It just goes to show just how much of an effect a unique skill can have on its wielder.

Although itʼs said that unique skills could often end up not having any real use, but Heroes are different. They would generally all have very powerful unique skills. That was also one of their advantages.

And advantage number two was the fact that every one of them came with a Holy Sword.

This divine weapon born from the concept of ”Hero”, wonʼt lose one bit to the Heroʼs unique skill when it comes down to its effect on oneʼs power.

For normal people, just a unique skill was already enough to make such a huge difference in oneʼs power. If you then add in a Holy Sword comparable in strength to a powerful unique skill, thereʼs no way that it wouldnʼt result in strength far surpassing all others.

Then, at the end, if you further add in a blessing on the level of the three great goddessʼs, and all three factors combined, itʼs impossible for a Hero to not be unbelievably powerful.

Of the Heroes across history, even the weakest was probably stronger than the level 98 legendary knight here in the capital. The slightly stronger ones could match the powers of the three great goddesses and six great demon lords. The Hero Mitra proclaimed to be historyʼs strongest Hero from a thousand years ago even successfully defeated the Demon King. That just shows how much power the Heroʼs advantages brought them.

Now then, what about the princess?

Powerful unique skill?

Check.

Three great goddess grade blessing?

Check.

She even seems to have a Holy Sword too.

Given all that, she really is just like a Hero. The only difference is the fact that sheʼs lacking a setting of having transmigrated from another world.

But donʼt forget, sheʼs royalty of the Mitra Kingdom. The descendant of the Hero a thousand years ago.

In other words, strictly speaking, this princess does indeed count as having the blood of another world.

Thus, without exaggeration, she was indeed the Hero of the current era. Itʼs just that sheʼs homegrown.

Shien felt itʼs a bit unfair.

”Why the heck that even though weʼre both Heroes, youʼre a princess and is beloved by all, whereas I canʼt even expose my identity?”

Thatʼs completely unfair treatment!

Of course, itʼs not like Shien and that princess could really be considered the same.

Shien was a summoned Hero. During the current age of peace after the war had already ended. If the demons found out that the gods once more used the weapon against them known as the Hero summoning ritual, then it would definitely bring about great conflict.

And that princess was just born lucky. She had grown up naturally in this world. Itʼs not like they could have prevented her from being born, right?

No, wait, thatʼs not right.

Shien suddenly thought of something very important.

”Vivian.” Shien turned toward Vivian and, after a brief hesitation, ”Could it be that ten years ago, the reason that Baydr planned out the mass assassination in the capital was due to the princess?”

Thatʼs right. Thatʼs what Shien thought of.

Itʼs true that the princess was just born lucky. Even if the demon race learned up the birth of this modern Hero, itʼs not like they could have really made any real objections about it.

But itʼs different for the Old Demon Faction.

They definitely wouldnʼt want to see another Hero descend upon this world.

Thus, they are very likely to try to just assassinate this princess.

And Vivian didnʼt deny it either.

”I canʼt definitively say whether or not they had such intentions.” Vivian paused for a moment before continuing, ”However, itʼs also possible that it wasnʼt their direct objective.”

Shien also fell silent.

”Not the direct objective huh?”

What was the direct objective then?

Shien remembered the matter with Leisha.

Could it be that the Old Demon Factionʼs true objected was actually the thing that Leisha has?

That thing that was stolen from the royal palace. Was that actually the Old Demon Factionʼs real objective?

”Well, whatever. Letʼs not bother thinking about it anymore.”

Baydr and Jillian had already died after all. Thereʼs no real point in thinking about it anymore.

Rather than that, the thing that Shien wanted to know more about is if the Holy Sword that he saw with the princess was actually real or not.

Logically speaking, that princes shouldnʼt have been able to have a Holy Sword.

Based on Nienʼs explanations, Holy Sword was a power born from the concept of ”Hero”, and Heroes were something that only had a small chance of appearing in other worlds. The vast majority of worlds donʼt have Heroes at all even. Only a small fraction of worlds could give birth to someone with the ability to become a Hero.

In other words, only someone from another would could become a Hero. Only someone from another world could hold a Holy Sword.

And a Heroʼs Holy Sword cannot be lost nor transferred.

Take Shien for example. Even when he buried the Holy Sword, it would come back on its own a day later. Due to being person-locked, no one else could use the Holy Sword at all.

Thus, only a Hero can use or hold a Holy Sword. The moment a Hero dies, the Holy Sword would shatter alongside them. This was something recorded in various books.

In that case, why does this princess have a Holy Sword?

Was she actually an otherworlder summoned here? Someone not homegrown in this world?

Shien even kind of suspected that the princess was actually summoned before him, only she was summoned as a baby and was just raised by the royalty of this kingdom.

But, there had never been a situation in the past with two Heroes appearing in the same age either.

Heroes were rare to begin with. Even searching across the great number of other worlds, the number of total Heroes that have appeared probably doesnʼt even reach double digits. With that kind of numbers, the chances of two people with the ability to become a Hero being born at the same time was just far too small.

Plus, that princessʼs Holy Sword was a bit strange too. Not only was it far too weak, itʼs also in a sealed state. Just what the heck is going on?

”I donʼt get it…”

Shien unconsciously muttered those words.

Then, Vivian spoke up from the side.

”If you donʼt get it, then just stop thinking about it.”

Vivian seemed to be under the impression that Shien was still thinking about assassination incident ten years ago. Thus, she patted Shien on the shoulder and spoke up.

”The main culprits behind it are all gone now anyways. Letʼs just leave the complicated stuff to the people in charge. As for us, letʼs enter the palace already and go meet the person that I wanted you to see.”

With that, Shien came back to himself.

”E-enter the palace?”

”C-can we really just go in as we like?”

Lumia and Melika also started panicking.

”If we could, Sir Balon wouldnʼt have needed to dispersing everyone in order to arrange the audience at the palace.” Diere quietly stated, ”Weʼre not entering the palace for an audience, but a private meeting.”

”Thatʼs right.” Vivian nodded, ”I have a relationship with that princess. If itʼs right now, she should be quite happy to see us.”

That statement stunned Shien.

”Wait…” Shien finally reacted and spoke dazedly, ”Youʼre saying… That princess…”
