The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 127: Did You Really Have To Take Things So Hard?

”Thud…”

As he slowly fell to the ground, the final remaining Old Demon Faction member, Baydr, could no longer go on.

”Cough… Ah…”

He was covered in wounds. Practically not a single patch of his skin was unharmed. Baydr was simply lying down on the ground in such a state, barely breathing. Only the fact that he was still making some dull noises from his throat told everyone just how much torment he had been subjected to.

The magic potionʼs effect had long since passed.

He also had not a drop of magic power left.

The current Baydr truly was out of options. He didnʼt have an ounce of strength left. All that remained in him was the final lifeʼs breath.

And that final breath of his was something that his foe had purposefully allowed him to keep.

Shien stood before Baydr while holding his magic sword. As he withdrew his magic power, he spoke up like he was concerned.

”Well? Canʼt you get up?”

Those words made not just Baydr, but even the knights and adventurers watching from the side, scared.

Shienʼs words sounded like it was spoken with concern, but his expression was one of someone who still havenʼt had enough after all.

He was practically telling everyone that – ”I still havenʼt played enough.”

”Devil…”

”What a devil…”

The knights and adventurers watching from the side all had terrified expressions on their faces. It was like they werenʼt facing a comrade but an Old Demon Faction member even scarier than Baydr.

Actually, in everyoneʼs mind, Shien had already unquestionable become an even more terrifying existence than Baydr. Heck, he was the most terrifying person in their entire life.

After today, news of Shienʼs viciousness will likely end up once again be spread out around Lamdrion.

But thatʼs for the future.

As the one who had taken all of Shienʼs torments, Baydr only had one thing he wanted to say.

”Kill me… I beg of you…”

Baydr was even leaking tears. It was like he had witnessed hell itself.

After all, near the end, Shien wasnʼt just cutting Baydr up or severing parts anymore. He even purposefully stuffed stuff like pebbles, daggers, mud, and whatnot into Baydrʼs wounds. Baydr ended up watching helplessly as his wounds quickly closed up with those stuff still in it, becoming a part of his body with no possibility of removal.

That kind of sensation would definitely drive one insane.

Now, not only did Baydr look covered in wounds on the surface, he was even covered in internal injuries.

Shien acted like he quite admired it.

”You actually didnʼt die even with that. As expected of a demon. Your life force really is quite strong. If I knew this beforehand, I should have stuffed some more interesting stuff in there, like bugs and stuff.”

As he heard that, Baydrʼs face froze in terror. His body shook uncontrollably.

”A devil…”

”Truly a devil…”

Even the knights and adventurers watching from the side started shaking too.

Especially Leon and Eudrice. Those two didnʼt have any real abilities from the start. Now that theyʼve personally witnessed Shienʼs cruelty in action, their faces have turned white a sheet, without a hint of blood.

”That Shien…”

Vivian had no idea how to react.

”What terribly bad taste.”

Diere frowned.

”So scary…”

Lumia turned teary.

”Mr. Shien…”

Melika had a complicated look on her face. As a naturally kind elf, she found Shienʼs cruelty somewhat hard to accept.

Of course, Shien was really just saying stuff without meaning it.

There was no way that Shien could actually do such things in the end.

After all, bugs are creepy. Even if Baydr was willing to take them, Shien would have to be willing to touch said bugs first.

Shien would absolutely not admit that he was actually very scared of bugs. (Grin)

Baydr who didnʼt know this just wanted to find release.

”Kill me already… Just make it quick…” Baydr begged pitifully, ”If not, I can do like Jillian and find someone to stab me. I wont ask you to spare me, just allow me the sweet release of death.”

Pitiful child. For him to be force to such a point.

But now, Baydr finally understood why it was that when he grasped Jillianʼs head, Jillian didnʼt dodge at all.

With Jillianʼs level and power, even if his opponent was Baydr, given that Baydr was already heavily injured, it should have been quite easy for him to have dodged.

But Jillian didnʼt move an inch. He just let Baydr rip his head off. It was telling how much Jillian wished for death.

Baydr suddenly remembered a detail.

That was that when he was moving to rip Jillianʼs head off, Jillianʼ dull face showed a hint of… Relief?

As he thought that, Baydr felt like his heart was shaking to hard in terror that it was turning to jello.

”Kill me. I beg of you. Iʼm begging you here…!”

Baydr was even forgetting the fact that he couldnʼt move and was trying to kowtow to Shien.

Then…

”You said that you wanted to find someone to stab you right?”

Shien seemed to have thought of something, and he suddenly made such a statement.

In response, Baydr stopped for a moment before hurriedly nodding.

”I… I do… I do…! Please give me a chance…!”

Baydr was nodding like mad.

Shienʼs eyes shifted, ”I heard that Jillian was originally under one of the Dragon Demonʼs subordinates. Since youʼre so familiar with Jillian, you should also be pretty familiar with the Dragon Demon too, right?”

Those words made Baydr completely freeze up.

No, it wasnʼt just Baydr. Even Vivian and the rest had their eyes bulging out. It was like theyʼve guessed what Shien was going to say, and theyʼve also frozen up.

”You… Youʼre saying…?”

Baydr looked at Shien with an even more terrified expression. He desperately wished that Shien would say something other than what he thought.

Yet, Shien just gave Baydr a big smile in return.

”Thatʼs right.” Shien clapped Baydrʼs shoulder like he was handing him an important task and spoke while smiling, ”Why donʼt you try and find the Dragon Demon to stab you.”

Baydr felt faint.

Vivian and the rest acted like theyʼve seen a ghost.

———— [Dragon Demon].

One of the Demon Kingʼs direct subordinated back then. One of the first demons born, and at the same time, one of the leaders of the current demon race. One of the six demon lords who rules the demon race. A terrible existance that not even the three great goddess would dare to carelessly pick a fight with.

What exactly was Shien making Baydr look for such a being for?

Baydr lowered his head.

After half a second…

”Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh…!”

Baydr screamed out madly and, as if he had suddenly reverted back in time, uncaring of his heavy injuries, slammed his head down into the ground.

”Splatter!”

Baydrʼs head cracked open like a ripe watermelon and exploded, spilling out all the various red and white stuff inside.

”Oy!”

Shien, who was rather close to Baydr, also got spattered by the remains, so he yelled out and hurriedly dodged.

”Did You Really Have To Take Things So Hard? Was that really necessary?”

Shien looked down at Baydrʼs ruined corpse with a confused expression.

He was completely unaware of how hard the people watching were shaking.
