The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 126: Small Timer

No doubt about it, Baydr ran into a wall.

The magic that he trained so hard for was completely ineffective against Shien.

In close combat, he was no match at all for Shien and his many maxed out skills.

The result is that even though he was much higher leveled than Shien, Baydr was like a pitiful child, unable to even fight back. He could only continuously retreat in the face of Shienʼs furious assault, and even then, he was constantly being heavily injured. If not for that magic potion, Baydr would probably have died countless times already.

This result made Baydr both shocked and angry. At the same time, a sense of terror slowly rose in his heart.

It canʼt be helped. Shien was just too vicious.

”You can regrow hands after itʼs cut off, but what about the feet?”

”You can even regrow your severed feet? Then it should be fine even if I cut off other parts, right?”

”Come on then, tell me. Where do you want me to cut next?”

”Head?”

”Chest?”

”Heart?”

”Back?”

”Not choosing huh? If youʼre not going to choose, then Iʼll go ahead and choose for you, alright?”

”Alright, itʼs decided then. Iʼll just give every one of them a go.”

As he spoke, Shien begun his inhumane attacks. Just like he had said, he gave every corner of Baydrʼs body a good cut.

And against Shienʼs slashes with [Magic Sword], Baydr had no way to resist at all.

Defensive magic?

Before Shienʼs max level [Magic Sword], such things were cut apart with but a single blow like it was paper maché.

In other words, Baydr wants to attack, but all his attacks were ineffective. He wants to defend, but all his defenses were instantly destroyed. In the end, he couldnʼt even dodge the coming blows.

After all, Baydrʼs real specialty was actually magic. His abilities at close combat might be quite something too, but itʼs definitely no match for Shien and his collection of max leveled skills. Finally, even the power brought by their level difference was infinitely reduced by Shienʼs [Limit Evolution]. In the end, he didnʼt have the slightest advantage against Shien and could do nothing more than be beaten, unable to fight back.

It must be said, the skill [Limit Evolution] really was strong. The effect acted directly to greatly increase all stats. At the highest level, it greatly reduced the level differences between Shien and high leveled opponents. All in told, the boost it gave Shien was huge.

Shien even believes that [Limit Transform] was an even higher class skill than [Magic Sword] or even racial specific skills like [War God] and [Magecraft]. Baring exceptions, this was probably a skill that could count as a cheat in and of itself.

Especially given that the skillʼs power is determined by the amount of magic power put into it. For Shien and his near limitless magic power, it was practically a trump card specifically designed for him.

Currently, Shien was experiencing the advantages offered by this skill more and more. He even believes that this skill likely has even more functions that heʼs currently unaware of.

With all that taken as a whole, Baydr, as a mage type Old Demon Faction member, and whose magic was completely ineffective against Shien, naturally had no way of overturning his current battle against Shien.

Now long after, Shien had already cut Baydr countless times and severed an unknown number of limbs and parts, causing unbelievable pain to Baydr.

How could Baydr not be terrified now?

Although his injuries will recover, the pain doesnʼt go away.

Plus, this magic potionʼs effect wonʼt go on indefinitely. As time goes on, the effects have slowly fell. Baydrʼs regeneration was getting slower and slower and his magic power was draining away too. Baydr became even more shocked and angry at this, but there was nothing he could do about it.

Only now did Baydr finally understand just why Jillian was beaten to such a state that he completely lost his mind and turned traitor.

It wasnʼt that Jillian was lacking in willpower. Itʼs that the man in front of him was inhuman. He was even more vicious than them Old Demon Faction, with an even greater understanding of how to deal the greatest amount of pain. He was just way too scary.

Of course, if Shien knew what Baydr was thinking, then heʼd definitely have something to say.

”Itʼs all thanks to the various geniuses on the web. If you go on like and ask something like ‘how to make a villain wish for deathʼ, I can guarantee that your head will be filled with all sorts of terrible knowledge.”

At the very least, Shien feels like compared to all those ”talented ones” on the web, he really was just a small timer.

Thereʼs no way that Baydr would know this, otherwise, heʼd definitely regret having come to this damnable place.

As for the people watching this battle. As they saw Baydr being constantly cut, slashed at, crippled, and tormented by Shien, every single one of them were also terrified. They looked at Shien like he was a devil.

”I finally understood why those brats in the guild turned so scared to the point where they were too scared to so much as make a noise…”

Alrith decided. Heʼd sooner offend a noble before he offended this devil.

Balon just stared unwaveringly at this scene and sucked in a deep breath.

With things having progressed to this point, Balon also clearly understood by now.

”What magic item?”

Shien never used a magic item to defeat Jillian from the start. The magic items in everyoneʼs hands didnʼt come from that personage.

All of this was just props for Shienʼs own theater that he acted out.

”No wonder the magic items were so unreliable. Also why it only worked when he was around.”

Balon had a complicated expression on his face. At the same time, he understood what an idiotic thing it was to have tried to steal the credit from Shien.

With Shienʼs power, it would take but minutes for him to gain the attention of and be greatly rewarded by the kingdom. Thereʼs also no way that the kingdom would allow such a talent to get away simply due to the customary manner of giving rewards. In the end, Shien would have still received all of the rewards that he deserved.

Trickle down rewards?

That only worked for commoners.

If the one to discover the ruins wasnʼt a commoner but a researcher with the ability to make great contributions to the nation, then the normal intermediaries wouldnʼt have any chance at the rewards.

In other words, Balon and companyʼs original plans were pointless from the start.

Leon and Eudrice seemed to have thought of that as well, and although they didnʼt want to accept this, they were also resigned.

Even though they now knew that all of them were tricked by Shien, what could they do about it?

They could do nothing at all.

All that they could do was bring up a single question.

And that was…

”Just why is he so strong?” Leon quietly spoke, ”Isnʼt he supposed to be a newbie? I heard that the magic scanner obviously showed that his level was 10, right? Plus, he didnʼt have a single skill, right?”

”Just whatʼs going on?” Eudrice also looked toward Vivian and asked suspiciously, ”What are you guys hiding?”

Vivian made no reply to that question.

Thatʼs because she knew that since Shien had chosen to reveal his true strength, he must have his own excuse for it.

Thus, Vivian said nothing at all and maintained her silence.

However…

”I was originally somewhat worried that Shien would end up exposing his identity. However, since he could display such power even without exposing his identity, perhaps…”

Vivian had some thoughts.

However, it needs to wait until she discussed it with Shien first.
