The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 140: The True Hero of the Current Era

The wild cheering persisted for about half an hour before it finally came to an end.

However, when the knights started dispersing the crowds and telling them to go back, most of them seemed to still be energized.

This situation truly was awe inspiring.

”Even thought that princess just showed her face for a bit…”

Melika tilted her head, uncomprehending.

”A-and the princess seemed like sheʼll show herself every day, right? Are they this excited every single day?”

Lumia turned rather timid. She seemed to have been quite startled by the citizenryʼs excitement.

However, it was just as the two of them said. Even though the princess only showed herself a bit. She didnʼt even say a word, and she only lingered for a few minutes. Yet the citizens who saw her were so excited. It was a bit much.

And yet, Vivian and Diere didnʼt agree at all.

”Youʼd have known if youʼve been in the Capital all this time, but that person is someone irreplaceable to the people.” Vivian explained, ”Since the moment that princess was born, news of the various miracles she had created would constantly come from the palace and be repeatedly passed around by everyone across the city. This situation continued on for over a decade. Never mind the young adults and children, even a great deal of the older generations were greatly moved and came to idolize her from the bottom of their hearts.”

”Do you know why sheʼs called the Hero of the current era?” Diere spoke coolly, ”Itʼs not only because her talent is peerless. Itʼs more because sheʼs just like the Heroes of the past. Every once in a while, there would be news of her, and every single one of them are things that were generally considered impossible.”

Under such circumstances, who wouldnʼt admire that princess form the bottom of their heart?

For nearly 20 years, everyone was living under her heroic legend. To have grown up alongside the makings of such a legend, anyone, no matter how cold, would probably be moved by such a thing, right?

”Plus, the one who granted that princess her blessing was one of the three great goddesses. Such treatment was exclusively the domain of Heroes in the past. Thus, who wouldnʼt put that princess on a pedestal?” Vivian smiled, ”Never mind the mortals. Even the high class gods would have to treat that princess with respect. Given such statuses, do you really thing she wouldnʼt be treated specially?”

”Itʼs one thing if that was all, but the most important part is that her beauty is also peerless. Even the goddesses fail to compare. Itʼs impossible for people to not go crazy over it.” Diere turned about and gazed toward that balcony as she slowly continued, ”With all those factors added together, thatʼs why that person is known as the treasure of the Kingdom. Not only does it signify her as a national treasure, it also labels her as an existence that everyone in the Kingdom considers a treasure.”

”I remember, back when the princess was 10 years old, the gods sent a number of high class gods to invite her to the divine realm. To become a resident of the divine realm.” Vivian reminisced, ”Unfortunately, she didnʼt agree. Otherwise, she might have become the first human in history who was able to reside in the divine realm.”

”Thatʼs how it is.” Diere nodded and added on, ”Now, that princess had already become the most idolized person in the entire mortal world. The ones who wish for her hand in marriage not only includes nearly every child of nobility, but even the princes of other nations and various important figures of other races bear hope of marrying her. Supposedly, there were even a lot of people among the demons who have also fallen for the princess. Of those who asked the king for her hand in marriage, quite a few of them were demons.”

As each and every item was listed, it was they were in a dream. Unbelievable.

Lumia and Melika didnʼt even dare to try to object.

Because they couldnʼt object.

Putting aside everything else, at the very least, that princessʼs heart-wrenching beauty was indeed enough to stir up such commotions.

Compared to that princess, even Melika feels like she couldnʼt compare.

Given all that, Lumia and Melika were basically convinced, and they started showing admiration in their eyes as well.

Of course, itʼs not like the two had never heard of news relating to that princess before.

Vivian and Diere had brought up the princess before everyone more than once before. Lumia and Melika also knows about the existence of the princess. Itʼs just that theyʼve always treated it as something of another world, something without any real relation to themselves. Itʼs only now that theyʼve actually fully experienced it.

Shien, who had been silent all this time, also raised his head.

”Before, you would every once in a while bring up the fact that the Kingdom has a prodigy even greater than Diere. Would that person be…?”

Shien asked like so.

And that question naturally got him an answer.

”Thatʼs right. It was indeed that princess.” Diere coolly replied, ”Her talent truly is unbelievable, far beyond what I can compare to.”

Diereʼs declaration got her a difficult smile from Vivian.

”Your words are overly humble, Diere.” Vivian immediately spoke up, ”Within the entire Kingdom, or even the entire mortal world, youʼre the only one who could even compare to that princess. Thatʼs something that the person herself admitted you know?”

That was the truth.

Putting aside everything else, just on the topic of level, that princess was already level 60 by the time she reached adulthood. It was something that no one else in the mortal world could do.

As for Diere?

Although she didnʼt manage to accomplish that point, she is already level 59 right now, and sheʼs about to level up to level 60. Unless something unexpected happened, she should be able to accomplish this within the year.

And how old was this Diere this year?

16 years old.

That was only a single year later than that princess.

Thus, when it comes to potential, Vivian believes that Diere wonʼt lose out much compared to that princess.

However, Diere herself doesnʼt think so.

”Level is only a single factor contributing to oneʼs true strength. Even if Iʼm not that much below her in this aspect, that doesnʼt mean itʼs true in the other aspects.”

Diere shook her head and coolly analyzed.

”Take the [Magic Sword] skill. Even now, Iʼve only raised it to level 2. That princess on the other hand had already learned [Magic Sword] when she was 13 years old. Currently, itʼs definitely at least at level 5.”

As he listened from the side, Shien didnʼt say a thing.

Thatʼs because he knew full well that the princessʼs [Magic Sword] skill; was already level 7.

This point was indeed not something that Diere could compare to.

Besides…

”I donʼt have a unique skill.”

Diere thus spoke.

”But that princess was not only born with a unique skill, the power of said unique skill was even considered to be in no way inferior to that of her ancestor, the Hero who defeated the Demon King a thousand years ago.”

When he heard that statement, Shien reacted.

”Not inferior to the unique skill of the Hero of a thousand years ago?”
