The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 118: An Undeniable Truth

With things the way they are, putting Shien aside, even Lumia and Melika basically realized what was going on.

“Old Demon Faction…”

Melika withdrew her magic power, looked at the attacker that she had burned to a crisp without hesitation, and confirmed his identity.

If the person in question wasn’t a demon, then as an elf born of nature, Melika would definitely not have been able to act so decisively and burned him to death without holding back.

However, from the moment she decided to act until now, Melika’s elven instincts didn’t make her hesitate even a little. Only now, when Melika had finally calmed down, did she finally realize that she had used her magic to kill an attacker.

Just that one point was enough to confirm the identity of said attacker.

Since it was confirmed that the attackers were demons, was there really any difficulty in guessing just who was it that was attacking the camp and the transport team?

Never mind Melika, even Lumia had guessed.

“W-What should we do?”

Lumia was slightly panicking.

Melika wasn’t much better either.

Normally, the two of them followed Vivian and Diere’s lead. Now that Vivian and Diere weren’t by their side the two of them were naturally uncertain.

Thankfully, it wasn’t just Lumia and Melika here.

“Don’t panic.” Shien told Lumia and Melika, “Now’s not the time to lose your heads. Pay attention to your surroundings. We have no idea when some new attacker might show up.”

Shien’s words allowed Lumia and Melika to regain a measure of calm.

However, the two of them were still very worried.

“Where’s big sister Vivian right now?”

Lumia muttered somewhat helplessly.

“What about Diere? Is she alright?”

Melika also tightly grasped her staff with a worried expression.

Shien on the other hand wasn’t worried at all.

“Don’t worry, they’re fine.”

Shien spoke in a very assured tone.

The reason was none other than the fact that [Magic Detection] allows Shien to clearly feel Vivian and Diere’s magic power, so he knew their conditions.

Right now, Vivian was currently in combat with a couple of Old Demon Faction members a small distance from Balon’s tent. Given that the attackers magic powers were wavering wildly while Vivian’s own magic power was calm and stable, Vivian had probably withstood their attacks. She even had the strength to spare to protect two relatively weak magic power reactions. She shouldn’t have any issues for the time being.

As for Diere, that girl was currently rushing over toward them at high speed. She had met with the assaults of a number of Old Demon Faction members, but not only did was she fine, she had even counterattacked and killed several of the attackers. She was quite strong.

Even Balon seemed to have charged out of his own tent. Right now, he’s dealing with the attacks of several Old Demon Faction members. His own performance was actually less eye-catching than Diere’s.

It seems that, compared to Diere, who had scientifically planned out all of her skills, her niche, and had even learned [Magic Sword], Balon’s own offensive power and threat level was actually a bit lower. Even the Old Demon Faction likely wouldn’t have imagined such an unexpected turn of events, right?

Of course, the rest of the people in the camp were in miserable straits.

At least, from Shien’s own detection, ever since the start, individual magic powers had constantly disappearing one after another.

It was easy to imagine just what happened to them.

Although Shien did somewhat sympathize with them, he didn’t feel guilty.

Although it could be said that Shien had a part in the Old Demon Faction appearing here, as was already mentioned that, even without Shien, given Balon and companies various actions for the sake of merits, this kind of situation would only have been a matter of time.

It didn’t matter if Balon and company managed to luck out and safely transport Jillian to the capital. Given the Old Demon Faction’s style, they had dared to blatantly kill as they liked ten years ago, would they really have hesitated now, ten years later?

In other words, it was guaranteed that blood would have been spilled from the very start of this incident.

Shien couldn’t see the slightly possibility that this quest could end peacefully. Plus, given Balon and company’s own ugliness, Shien really would been been in a bad mood if he didn’t mess about.

Beside, Jillian was someone that Shien had personally caught in the first place. For Balon and company to try to steal what was Shien’s credit, he really wouldn’t have been able to stand it if he didn’t make them bleed a bit for it.

Thus, for those innocent knights and adventurers who got caught up as collateral damage, in the end, it can only be said that they were unlucky.

“That said though, the fact that I bear a part of the responsibility for this is an undeniable truth.”

Thus, Shien won’t feel guilty about it, but he will still do all he could to make the perpetrators pay for their actions.

“Let’s go, Lumia, Melika.”

Shien spoke up.

“Go?”

“Where?”

Lumia and Melika hesitated for a moment, confused.

Shien smiled.

“What is the Old Demon Faction’s target?”

Shien turned around and asked a question.

“We just need to head over there.”

Thus, Shien, Lumia, and Melika headed in a certain direction together.

…

“Bang…”

“Boom…”

Explosions still erupted from time to time within the camp, lighting one tent after another on fire.

The entire area had already become an inferno. Flames had spread out in all directions.

The ground was stained with blood, and corpses littered the ground.

Magic power pulse about in waves and the air trembled constantly.

Shien, Lumia, and Melika hurried. They had also encountered a number of Old Demon Faction attacks, but the three of them worked together to quickly dealt with them all.

Generally, Shien would use his detection skills to discover the enemies ahead of time and use his max level [Throwing] skill to turn normal stones into basically cannonballs. Any opponent would either be smashed to death on the spot or heavily injured. Then, Lumia and Melika would finish them off. The tactic had indeed lessened the number of enemies and cleared the way of obstructions, allowing the three of them to continue on their way.

The people hurrying had also grown from the three of them to over a dozen.

Alrith was even among them.

“Thanks there, Shien my man.” Alrith’s way of addressing Shien had completely changed. Same with the way he looked at Shien. He spoke in a strange and surprised tone, “Although, are you really only level 10, as well as not having learned any skills?”

Given that he had personally witnessed Shien send two Old Demon Faction members of decent levels flying with mere rocks, Alrith didn’t believe that at all anymore.

Shien didn’t bother explaining either. He just continued to lead the group forward.

About 10 minutes later, the group had finally reached their destination.

That was the tent that Jillian was held in.
