The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 136: Let’s Have A Chat About Life

After entering the Capital, Shien discovered that it was even more prosperous than he had imagined.

Not only were the amount of people and traffic amazing, nor was it just the fact that the knights and adventurers coming and going were all generally high leveled. Even the economy and design were developed.

In the Capital, everything were chalk white buildings constructed from stone. The ground was paved with clean and neat stone roads. The roads were also purposefully divided up into three sections. The middle section was specifically reserved for carriages, while the two sides were for pedestrians. Plus, not only were the roads wide, they also extended far and away. It actually made Shien feel like he was looking at a modern highway. The only difference is that the ground wasnʼt paved with asphalt but instead beautiful stone bricks.

There werenʼt anything like street vendors here either. It was all neatly arrayed storefronts, forming instead into various neat shopping streets. These shopping streets were also all divided up. Some only sold fruits and vegetables, while others only sold equipment and weapons. There was even a tall tower set in the center of the merchant district, supposedly the whole thing was the highest grade equipment and potions seller in the Kingdom. Even Shien was tempted to head over for a look.

As for the people, they were completely different from Lamdrion be it in the way they were dressed or just their general attitudes. They all had an expensive feeling to them. They looked like they didnʼt have a hard time living at all. Even the knights and adventurers wore high leveled equipment, and all of them were fully and completely equipped. They were nothing like the adventurers of Lamdrion whose equipment were mismatched and patchwork.

Thatʼs the difference between them.

Shien finally understood why the Capital was known as the center of the world.

Really, the difference was a bit too large compared to other places.

”Rather, as expected of a city founded by a Hero from another world, huh?”

Likely, a lot of the design and general systems used for the Capital were things that the Hero took from their own world, right?

Either way, Shien did see certain elements of modern civilization in this Captial. If not for the difference in architectural styles, this place could probably be made into a modern major city.

”Well, thatʼs something thatʼs probably somewhat unrealistic though.”

After all, given that it was a Hero, which was enough to prove that he should have been like Shien. The goddess wouldnʼt have recovered memories and knowledge relating to his previous worldʼs technology.

It was for the sake of not letting another worldʼs technology and knowledge to overly influence or affect this world. Thus, the goddess purposefully did not restore that kind of memories or knowledge.

Thus, the Hero a thousand years ago probably only imported a certain amount of style from a modern city. Something like actually making a modern city with skyscrapers and stuff was completely impossible, never mind stuff like scientific developments.

Even so, the impression that the Capital gave Shien was still pretty fantasy like.

”I really do want to look around some.”

Shien unconsciously muttered those words as they headed toward the Latrard home.

The result was that, much like Shien, Lumia and Melika who had been looking around curiously all this time were also tempted. They looked at Vivian with an anticipating expression.

Obviously, the two of them also wanted to look around some.

Itʼs not like Vivain canʼt understand the feelings of those who have come to the Capital for the first time.

”Iʼll take you guys out to look around after weʼve put our luggage away.” Vivian smiled indulgently, ”You guys wouldnʼt want to look around while carrying so much luggage either, right?”

”Besides, after having camped out for so long, itʼs best to first wash up some.” Diere added calmly from the side, ”Although this is the birthplace of adventurers and no one would look at us strangely for being covered in dust, there had been people looking at us from the start. Therefore, itʼs better if we washed up first.”

When they heard Diereʼs explanation, Lumia and Melika immediately nodded. It seems that they did indeed mind the fact that they were so dirty.

It was only Shien who, after hearing Diereʼs words, wanted to roll his eyes. He swept his gaze across the area.

There were indeed people nearby who would look over from time to time.

Only…

”Oy, look over there. Those girls over there are all so cute.”

”R-really.”

”Where did that elf come from? Sheʼs so cute. Iʼve never seen one before.”

”That dog girlʼs really cute too. Her ears are so tiny, and her tail is so furry.”

”Although I canʼt see what that girl looks like under that black cloak, I can tell just from her chin that sheʼs definitely cute too.”

”Rather, have I seen that fully armored girl somewhere before…?”

”Donʼt mind it. Sheʼs cute too after all.”

”Yeah.”

Those were the conversations currently taking place.

Listen to them. Were they really looking over because they were dirty looking?

It was obvious that they were looking over because they lusted after your bodies!

Perverts!

Of course, when they saw Shien, their conversation changed.

”That man really is an eyesore.”

”For him to be mixed in the middle of such beautiful girls…”

”Look, he smiled.”

”Is that smile purposefully provoking all the men around?”

”So annoying.”

”Yeah.”

Shien wanted to hurt them for those words.

No, he really did turn around.

”Hey, the guys over there. Letʼs head to the side street there and have a chat about life.”

”What are you doing? Donʼt pull me! W-wait…! Your smile is scary! What are you trying to do with me? D-donʼt! H-Help!”

As shown above, on his first day in the Capital, Shien almost had a little chat about life with some guys here.

Finally, it was the befuddled Vivian and Melika who hurriedly stopped Shien, forcing him to give up on his vengeance.

That said, those couple of guys were scared to the point of crying. In the end, they ran away without a trace, so Shien did basically get his revenge in the end.

…

After the minor detour, everyone finally reached the Latrard family home under Vivianʼs lead.

As high nobility with a thousand years of history in the Capital, as well as the head of the adventurerʼs guild, the Latrard family home obviously fully reflects that. Not only was it situated in an important location in the central noble district, the residence itself was also unbelievably splendorous. Just the amount of space alone exceeded even Leishaʼs Flowersong Mansion. Itʼs just that it wasnʼt quite as picturesque and otherworldly as the Flowersong Mansion.

When they arrived, the butler welcomed Vivian, Shien, and the rest, lead everyone in, and set them up in already prepared rooms. The hospitality was quite complete.

After asking about it, Shien found out that Leili seemed to have long since predicted that Vivian would be brining everyone to stay at the Latrard family home, so she sent a letter over some time ago asking for the family to properly take care of Shien and the rest.

The head of the Latrard family was currently over at the adventurerʼs guild, and he hasnʼt come back yet. Thus they didnʼt meet him yet.

Thus, everyone put away their luggage and washed up before gathering once again at the main hall on the first floor.

”Letʼs go, Iʼll take you guys out to look around.”

Vivian smiled at everyone, now fully cleaned up.

Lumia and Melika couldnʼt wait.

Shien was the same.

It was because, just now, Vivian told him a certain thing.

”You should prepare as well. Youʼll be following me to see someone in a bit.”
