The Devil Does Not Need to Be Defeated

Chapter 113: “Want To Try and See?”

”Gah!”

Several minutes later, Markry was no longer being subjugated to violence. Instead, he way lying prone on the ground, unable to move. He acted like he was barely alive. Not only was his face a complete mess, he was even holding his head while shivering.

”Stop hitting me, stop hitting me. Wah!”

It was like he didnʼt realize that Shien had already stopped, but Markray just kept repeating those words like a pitiful child who was just abused.

”Did I maybe go a bit too far?”

Looking at the scene before him, Shien started to feel a bit bad.

However, although Shien did say that, he didnʼt notice the fact that he had a refreshed expression on his face.

In this situation, Shien stooped down and gave Markray a pat.

”Gah!”

Markray immediately let out a super embarrassing cry. His entire body started shaking even harder.

Obviously, following after Diere, Shien had also become a figure of terror in Markrayʼs heart.

Shien returned that with a smile and spoke up gently and kindly.

”Come on then. Speak up now. How exactly will this Foleti family not let me get away with this?”

Shien acted like a friendly neighbor and showed a gentle smile.

However, that smile, in Markrayʼs eyes, was no different from a devilʼs vicious grin.

”N-nothing! We wonʼt do anything!”

Markray surrendered on the spot.

”Is that so?” Shien continued to smile gently down, ”So you wonʼt be making any more trouble for me?”

”I wonʼt! I wonʼt!” Markray shook his head while crying.

”Thatʼs good then.” Shien nodded, satisfied, ”Then you also wonʼt be causing any more trouble for Melika either, right?”

”That-” Markray stopped his crying.

”Eh?” The smile on Shienʼs face instantly disappeared.

It must be said, when he saw that expression on Shienʼs face, Markray was terrified to the point where his heart was shivering.

However, it was only this one matter that Markray couldnʼt let go of no matter what.

”Melika is mine! I will never give up!”

The noble brat just repeated that over and over. Even though he was shaking all over, he still didnʼt beg for mercy when it came to that point.

That actually rather surprised Shien.

”I never imagined that a noble brat like you would be so infatuated.” Shien patted Markray on the shoulder and, ignoring his shaking, spoke in a whimsical tone, ”But you know young master, as the saying goes, a fruit, forcibly picked, is not sweet. Melika herself really doesnʼt like you, so why must you be so obsessed with this one flower? If you just used your linage and position, then at least withing Lamdrion, couldnʼt you get as many beauties as you like?”

Markray immediately retorted to that.

”Iʼm not interested at all in those vulgar women.” Markray found his courage and spoke, ”They arenʼt even worthy of being side characters compared to Melika.”

”Oh?” Shien raised an eyebrow and spoke with some interest, ”Do you not want to collect a huge harem, marry a couple dozen beautiful wives, and spend your nights in bliss?”

”No.” Markray replied without hesitation, ”I only want Melika. I donʼt want any other woman besides Melika.”

”Cough.” Shien was momentarily stunned by Markrayʼs unwavering attitude. He scratched his head as he strugged, ”But that doesnʼt match your settings at all though. As a second generation spoiled brat, should you be keeping a bunch of mistresses all around, and be the type where as soon as any beautiful woman enters your sight, your intelligence would immediately drop and youʼd do anything just to satisfy your lusts? Even to the point of doing stuff like forcibly kidnapping in broad daylight or forcing others with threats, wasnʼt that supposed to be your settings?”

”Youʼre talking about those worthless trash nobles who canʼt do anything other than playing with woen right?” Markray spoke distainfully, ”Donʼt compare me to those people. Thatʼs just plain insulting to me. Those parasites who canʼt do anything but be a blight on their family names donʼt deserve to be called nobles.”

When he heard those words, Shien really was shocked.

He never imagined that this noble brat actually had such convictions. It looks like he wasnʼt completely worthless.

However…

”If Iʼm not remembering wrong, you seemed to have also tried to use force on Melika right?” Shien spoke with a fake smile, ”In the end, Diere not only found you out, she also broke all four of your limbs. Was that action of yours not a shame on your own family?”

Markay replied to Shienʼs words without even thinking.

”So long as I got Melika, then even if I did bring shame to my family, even if I was thrown out of the family, thrown from nobility, then itʼs still worth it to me!”

Markray actually didnʼt reflect on his own actions at all. Instead, he was filled with conviction and obsession. He just stared at Melika still held in Shienʼs arms with eyes filled with infatuation.

This time, Shien understood.

”So thatʼs how it is. So long as itʼs for Melika, then youʼd be willing to give anything, use any method huh?”

Any hint of a smile in Shienʼs eyes finally completely disappeared.

It couldnʼt be helped.

”Even ignoring Melikaʼs own will, just for your own desireʼs convenience. Really, Iʼve respected you for nothing just now.”

To put it plainly, Markrayʼs attitude was a combination of two things. The noble attitude of looking down on all others, and yet considering himself the one in the right. Really though, those two concepts werenʼt all that different.

Like the sheer hypocrisy of saying one thing while doing another. That kind of bastard without any self awareness was the most annoying though.

”And here you actually made me think well on you for a moment. It looks like I overestimated you.” Shien stared down at Markray as if he was a toy that Shien had lost interest in, ”From now on, give up on Melika.”

Markrayʼs eyes opened wide at that pronouncement. He couldnʼt hold himself back from becoming emotional, and tried to object right there and then.

Unfortunately for him, Shien didnʼt give Markray the chance.

”This isnʼt a warning. Itʼs a threat you know?”

Shien reached out with his hand and placed it on Markrayʼs neck. He moved his fingers slowly across as if imitating a knife cutting across where he touched.

”Iʼm not as nice as Vivian. Nor am I like Diere and them who would hold back out of caution against your noble family. If I really wanted to kill you, I have a hundred different ways to do it. Want to try and see?”

Shienʼs words made Markray once again shake all over like his entire body was dunked in ice water.

Markray even had a premonition that if not for the fact that killing him here would bring about too much trouble, Shien wouldnʼt have minded opening up his neck right here and then.

”This is your only chance. Properly value it, my dear young master.”

Immediately after, Shien turned about and left without hesitation.

”Wahhhh!”

Only then did Markray seemed to completely collapse and ran off tumbling.

At the same moment, in a corner nearby, Diere also sheathed her own blades.

”Youʼve barely escaped death.”

Diere gave a glance in the direction that Markray ran off in before turning and leaving herself.

Naturally, Vivian also saw this scene. As she watched Shien carry Melika to Lumiaʼs tent, a resigned smile appeared on her face.
