Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 906: Chapter 12: Mind Body Lifeform

Actually, to be serious, apart from originating from the same planet, all intelligent beings are considered aliens.

You think the other party is an alien, while they think you look bizarre.

At this moment, on the Great Curved Saber, Cornislav puffed out his chest and belly, full of pride, while the robot behind him held the extraterrestrial corpse he excavated from the Meteorite Belt.

Among all the players, he is probably the first qualified to enter the main ship, and this main ship is also the only research vessel, where only NPCs are busy, not a single player in sight.

Cornislav was led into a cabin, where he quickly met the legendary figure, the male protagonist of the Mechanical Split Star’s main storyline, the most frequently appearing NPC in the BL section, Mr. G, known as the Friend of the Female Players.

The powerful aura instantly extinguished Cornislav’s arrogant demeanor, and he immediately lowered his head obediently.

”Mr. G, I’ve brought both the person and the corpse.”

Gao Gong nodded, examining him with interest, not entirely because he brought the corpse, but more importantly, because he is a Tier 2 mutation research master, specializing in the plant side.

Due to Mechanical Split Star’s radiation environment, the profession of biologist emerged, but even among biologists, most focus on radiation beast bloodline research, with few experts in radiation plant research; after all, on Mechanical Split Star, the number of radiation plants above B-Level is far lower than radiation organisms.

Gao Gong knows the reason.

The gestation and birth of high-level radiation plants are greatly influenced by Gaia’s Will, that is, Planet Will (that’s why after Gao Gong created the SSS-Level Radiation Tree, he was immediately sought by the wills of the three major Mother Cities); whereas on Mechanical Split Star, the Planet Will is suppressed by the Mother City Will.

Therefore, a plant-side radiation species researcher, especially a player, is very rare.

After observing him for a while, Gao Gong spoke:

”I heard that the reason you found this corpse was largely because you wanted to plant corn in the Meteorite Belt?”

Cornislav suppressed his pounding heart, took a deep breath, and said, ”Yes, Mr. G, the mutant corn I researched not only has abundant yield but also can, to a certain extent, stimulate the awakening of biological bloodlines.”

But he didn’t mention that this stimulation of biological bloodline awakening often results in the experimental subjects exploding and dying.

Gao Gong remained noncommittal: ”So what kind of reward are you looking for, having found this corpse?”

Cornislav was about to blurt out that he wanted to continue researching ’mutant corn’, but upon seeing the encouraging look in the other’s eyes, he suddenly had a flash of insight and quickly said:

”I think I still need further study and research in this field.”

”Alright, then you can stay on this ship for further learning; I’ll have Dr. Yuu guide you.”

Cornislav left excitedly and quickly met Dr. Yuu, a short-haired lady dressed as a researcher, wearing black silk glasses, whose age was indiscernible, she calmly glanced at him before continuing her work with the test tubes.

As a player’s instinct, Cornislav used an ’Investigation’ on her.

Name: Dr. Yuu

Faction: Du Gao Technology

Profession: Luca Scholar

Level: 60

...

Just as Cornislav wanted to continue looking, Dr. Yuu raised her brow slightly, a mysterious energy fluctuation appeared, and the Investigation skill was instantly sealed. Simultaneously, the original profession and level turned into question marks.

”I know you people have a habit of prying into privacy, but it’s best not to do that here. If you run into someone who isn’t easy to deal with, you might not even be able to keep your life.”

Cornislav paused, completely unable to understand how the other could ’counter-investigate’; after all, the only consensus among these lifestyle players was that unless it was a combat profession, any auxiliary profession couldn’t escape ’Investigation’. Even if the other was a level 60 expert master, and what exactly is ’Luca Scholar’, why hadn’t he ever heard of it?

With the faction’s progress, faction members naturally progress too, especially for some scholars — through research in certain cutting-edge fields, gaining experience and leveling up is fast.

Back then, Dr. Yuu was just a Tier 1 Full Level Biological Expert, and the direction of her research was the least popular ancient creatures specialty, studying the legendary Luca Energy.

With the evolution of the two giant trees, Dr. Yuu’s domain has seen rapid advancement.

Manipulating trace amounts of ’Luca Energy’ is just the most insignificant benefit among them.

Such SSS-Level life energy is naturally beyond what players can currently imagine.

At this moment, a small seedling resembling a bean sprout in the petri dish in front of her, seemingly stimulated by ’Luca Energy’, rapidly took root and sprouted, quickly growing into a tree as thick as a water tank, with muscle-like tendrils entwining the surface of the tree body. The leaves emitted energy waves like flying daggers and arrows, instantly smashing all the experimental equipment in the laboratory.

As a bystander, Cornislav also felt a tightness in his chest, his blood volume dropped by 1000 points in an instant, a blood wound as large as a baby’s mouth appeared, and influenced by an unknown factor, his blood volume was still decreasing by -100-100-100.

Dr. Yuu glanced at him, casually waved her hand, and a red energy fell on his wound, his whole body felt warm, and his blood volume quickly recovered.

But just as this ’super seedling’ was about to burst through the ceiling, with roots about to extend out of the laboratory, the massive seedling suddenly stopped, life energy quickly dissipating, and suffering a backlash, the roots and tendrils began to rapidly fade into ashes, finally turning into gray-black impurities, covering the entire ceiling, walls, and floor.

A male professor wearing thick lenses, looking malnourished, ran in, surprised at the sight, ”Dr. Yuu, didn’t President Du inform us to halt the ’Resurrection Tree’ research until progress was made on the biological experiments in your charge?”

”This is merely my personal experiment and has nothing to do with the company project,” Dr. Yuu said irritably.

The so-called ’Resurrection Tree’ is essentially a copy of the ’Radiation Life Tree’, and being able to copy means being able to mass produce.

Mass producing SSS-Level life forms, the difficulty of biological experiments is imaginable.

”Who is he?” The male professor suddenly scrutinized Cornislav with a somewhat hostile gaze.

”The trainee sent by the boss,” Dr. Yuu replied impatiently, directly walking into the adjacent laboratory, Cornislav paused for a moment before quickly following, and soon, the two arrived in front of a blood pool, within which a humanoid plant could be vaguely seen.

From this human form, Cornislav felt a similar but distinctly different aura compared to before.

”You’ll first assist me with this project.”

”What, what project is this?” Cornislav immediately asked.

Dr. Yuu didn’t answer, but the system’s prompt sounded.

[You have gained eligibility to participate in the ”Shipgirl Project Subordinate Project (104) - Plant Skeleton Health Experiment”]

Ship, Shipgirl?!

...

Meanwhile, Gao Gong also began inspecting the extraterrestrial corpse.

Insect Race?

This was Gao Gong’s first reaction, because this corpse really looked like an insect, like a large cockroach embedded with two legs, only dried up for an unknown number of years, faintly visible inside the shriveled corpse were clusters of white egg-like objects.

But Gao Gong quickly dismissed this idea.

Just because it looks like an insect doesn’t mean it’s Insect Race. The biggest characteristic of Insect Race is having no dominant consciousness, but from the other’s flesh, he senses a hint of an advanced intelligent species.

”Oh, a Mind Body life form.”

The so-called Mind Body is a type of intelligent life form in the cosmos, that is, life forms born with wisdom. From birth, they possess adult logical thinking.

Some intelligent species, as their civilization continues to evolve, their members can become so-called ’Mind Body life forms’, such as advanced clone civilizations, advanced bionic civilizations.

The bionic civilization pioneered by Sister Rose barely brushes the edge of ’Mind Body life forms’.

”However, a Mind Body civilization on the biological side is quite rare; is this guy the product of mitosis?”

Because in Gao Gong’s vision, it is clearly visible that this guy is not dead, he has simply entered a hibernating state through mitosis, and those ’white eggs’ are not real insect eggs, but numerous ’cell aggregates’ produced by mitosis.

This is also the life trait of the Mind Body, with a more superstitious explanation being ’mind-body unity’, where thoughts and memories can be stored by altering life forms. This way, even if most of the flesh decays, it can fully revive after being frozen for hundreds of thousands of years.

Similar to insects in amber.

Which means the current state is not complete death.

But there’s only a flicker of life remaining. Based on Gao Gong’s observations, if given a few more decades, the corpse will experience ’cell-level necrosis’, and by then, it would truly fade into oblivion.

”Let’s save you, then see what you’re investigating.”

Gao Gong conveniently held a high-level means of reviving thoughts.

With a thought activated, his little finger quickly expanded into a memory worm covering the entire room, and the worm opened its mouth wide to swallow the other whole.
