Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 533: Chapter 66: Divine Wall

Virus Library 0, an existence so enigmatic even in Cyber Space, is said to be the breeding ground of the Mother City.

During the Cyber Tide era, it was the source of the ’Pheromone Virus’, a unique ’Companion Virus’ that almost obliterated the entire Bionic Realm. Billions of Bionic Men, regardless of rank or status, were deeply infected, equivalent to waging a ’Genetic War’ on this planet.

The goal of David Hilbert is to pry open a crack in the gates of ’Virus Library 0’ and through innumerable bizarre viruses and AI symbiotic experiments, create a form of Digital Life suited to the Cyber Network.

And this is the truth of this Cyber Experiment.

When uploading consciousness in Cyber Space, the Consciousness is reorganized and transformed into a ’Cyborg’.

To be precise, the Cyborg is the most ’real’ self, the self unbound by moral constraints.

Only AI, Cyber Hackers of certain factions, and seasoned veterans like Gao Gong can avoid this kind of personality split.

Digital Space is completely different; ’Consciousness Upload’ is merely uploading, a split and reorganization of digital signals.

Second layer, third layer.

As the digital signals flickered chaotically, a glance at Dida beside revealed her look of surprise.

”Becoming Digital Life provides more baptism, and transforming from AI to Digital Life has a higher success rate compared to ordinary people.”

Dida shook her head, firmly refusing, ”I don’t want to.”

”Why?” Gao Gong inquired curiously.

”Can’t say why, just an inexplicable aversion,” Dida pondered over her words, ”Their attitude towards Digital Life is really hard to tolerate.”

”If a civilization’s ethics do not take root at its inception, this is the outcome.”

Gao Gong said in a Riddler-like manner, and Dida seemed pensive beside him.

If the first layer of Digital Space is between reality and illusion, then upon teleportation to the third layer, what unfolds before them is a simulator space close to reality.

The hardware here is almost identical to reality. The building’s exterior is a super-large ’access port’, and on the opposite end, visible to the naked eye, digital signals constantly generate.

Name: Life Signal Simulator

Level: Tier 2 Civilization Architecture

Note: A special kind of civilization architecture, generally used in the early stages of a Virtual Civilization, capable of transforming ordinary Carbon-based Species into Digital Life. This simulator seems to have been modified, likely for other purposes.

The two stood on the silver-white floor, flanked by conversion chambers that occasionally opened, revealing not people, but ’Digital Life Forms’ with countless green digits flickering on their surface.

This level of the simulator is already capable of long-distance conversion, and these newly generated Digital Life forms are undoubtedly elite experts from the Earth Net Group, brought in from across locations. For this exploration, those Super Brainiacs have made significant investments.

”These Digital Life forms are quite advanced!”

Dida whispered in Gao Gong’s ear.

Gao Gong scanned the room and nodded, these converted Digital Life forms were at least 10th generation equivalents, and in terms of level, each was above level 30.

The scientist-created faction indeed has some tricks up its sleeve.

Need to find a way to profit from this!

After another covetous sweep, Gao Gong withdrew his gaze, walked up to ’David Hilbert’, with three rows of rather unique-looking conversion chambers behind him. The reason was simple: from the conversion chambers, he sensed Sensory Signals.

Digital signals are standard in Digital Space, while Sensory Signals are the standard in Cyber Space.

”These conversion chambers can let Digital Life temporarily ’go online’?”

”Yes, we spent quite some effort to create it temporarily,” David Hilbert was reluctant to discuss further, instead handing over a digital hard drive. For Gao Gong in ’Digital Life’ mode, a slight grab flooded his brain with vast data.

”According to our information, Virus Library 0 is located beneath the source code layer of Cyber Space. To be precise, it shouldn’t be called a virus library, but rather a subsidiary database of the Mother City.”

”Oh?” This was new information even for Gao Gong, who raised an eyebrow, asking, ”Whose is it?”

”Fortress.”

Gao Gong gave him a long, thoughtful look, starting to understand why the other party was so willing to let him join; his status as a wanted criminal here might actually add to his value.

”The Fortress Elders aren’t to be messed with, shall I set off now?”

Gao Gong glanced at a regular conversion chamber. Digital Life requires special conversion chambers, but as a temporary Digital Life, he could simply return to his body and connect directly to the network.

”Take this,” Tuu Xiaoyu handed him an ’earphone’, ”With this on, our people can contact you even in Cyber Space.”

Gao Gong nonchalantly accepted it, asking, ”Who will be contacting me?”

Behind them, a beautiful female operator stood up, ”Third-generation Digital Life, No. 12453531313 at your service.”

’It’s her,’ a flash of surprise flickered in Dida’s eyes; this female operator was the third-generation Digital Life born just yesterday, and she’d personally witnessed her creation.

”Ah, it’s easier with acquaintances.”

Gao Gong didn’t mind, stepping into a conversion chamber, closing the door, saying, ”Then, see you in Cyber Space.”

After the two left, Tuu Xiaoyu frowned, asking, ”Doctor, are you too trusting of them? Such an important plan, and you’re allowing them to participate directly?”

David shook his head, not explaining, but the scene from the fifth layer of Digital Space flashed in his mind.

”Don’t worry, he’ll become one of ours.” The Super Brain emphasized.

Meanwhile, at the outer edge of Divine Land, a dozen undersea mechanical creatures, under some inexplicable will, swam to the ’Divine Wall’ of Divine Land.

The so-called Divine Wall is a place in Divine Land that stores ’temporary Digital Life’ bodies, a product of the ’Physical Security Treaty’ signed jointly by ten Super Corporations and the highest directive of the Mother City.

The contract ensures permanent protection of the body during ’temporary conversion’, preserving bodily vitality for 10, 20, or 30 years, akin to the effect of Trisolaran cryogenic chambers.

This ’treaty’ has been implemented for over a decade without a single mistake, as the Divine Wall’s protective measures are installed separately by ten Super Corporations, with final defenses from the Mother City.

Hence, the Divine Wall is also known as the Undersea Great Wall.
