Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 517: Chapter 51: Gaidu

One day later, Liangzhou City

With the descent of the Level 9 flying device, another important figure from the headquarters of Balance Technology arrived.

Unlike the previous Mengna, this one was a member of the Armed Faction, a Super Mechanical Transformer.

Upon seeing the other party’s arrival, Han Tong managed to squeeze out a smile on his typically expressionless ”dead mother” face; the two were quite familiar with each other, having both served as instructors at headquarters.

”You guys really messed up this time,” the other laughed heartily, ”Luckily, you managed to pass the blame in time, and that fool Mengna conveniently took the fall.”

Han Tong sneered coldly, ”A self-righteous woman; if it weren’t for her, it wouldn’t have gotten to this point.”

”Even the Corporate Will was alerted, unbelievable,” the other rubbed his brow, ”Honestly, I was shocked back at headquarters.”

When an organization forms a cluster, the boundaries of individuals become blurred, the collective thought becomes the brain, and the collective will becomes the guideline.

In plain terms, once the Corporate Will is affected, all the high-level officials are alarmed, including him.

”Take my car.”

The headquarters investigator waved his hand, and the next moment, the heavy mechanical components on him began to transform into a small magnetic suspension car while a pale-faced young man’s face emerged, with two-thirds of his body replaced by mechanical parts, leaving one-third as crimson muscles, looking somewhat terrifying.

Han Tong exclaimed, ”Legion Technology from the Mother City.”

”Don’t be surprised, mechanical transformation has long ceased to be a secret, get in.”

After the two got in, the magnetic suspension car switched to automatic driving mode, simultaneously blocking their communication.

”Alright, with no one else around, you can tell me the truth now,” the headquarters investigator rubbed his forehead, a thick vein pulsed vigorously.

”Before I came, I heard all sorts of wild rumors, like an outsider beating down your entire Throne Department, dismantling the mechanical main brain, and finally wrecking this testing ground. What on earth happened?”

”Even if it’s a failed experiment, you guys should come up with a better excuse, otherwise how do I report back?”

Han Tong’s mouth twitched, and after a moment of silence, he said, ”That’s basically the truth—apart from not dismantling the main brain.”

The investigator turned his head, looking at the street, and ever since the signal tower was gone, the pedestrians seemed to have more vitality on their faces.

For the people here, perhaps the destruction of the experiment was a good thing.

”...That’s the situation, Charlie is waiting for you at the branch.”

Han Tong rattled off his explanation, then looked up to find the other watching a holographic video with great interest, instantly furious.

The investigator didn’t care, his eyes shining with excitement as he pointed at the surveillance video, exclaiming, ”What’s with this kind of mechanical transformation? It’s incredibly powerful! So you really were thrashed this badly!”

”...”

Soon, they arrived at the ruined Balance Branch, where once-arrogant employees who looked every bit the elites were now scavenging through the rubble, trying to recover any valuable data.

In the ruins of a building that was leaking on all four sides, the investigator met this branch’s top administrator, Charlie.

”Didn’t expect you’d actually be made into a living puppet, soaking for so long, did you get marinated?” the investigator remarked, clicking his tongue in amazement.

Charlie appeared calm, waving his hand to summon several mechanical soldiers who brought over the tied-up Dr. Liang, a blonde secretary, and several researchers involved in the ’rebellion’.

”These are the witnesses you wanted. From the current clues, we can infer that the person who disrupted the experiment is a high-ranking member of the Knight Order, who calls himself Mr. G, and the business spy he contacted is Logistics Manager Zhang Yu, currently missing. We’re searching for him.”

”Can you confirm they are from the Knight Order?”

”Based on the technological methods they demonstrated and their communication methods, it seems highly likely.”

The investigator asked again, ”Then how did they manage to control all the defense weapons of the branch in such a short time?”

”It was Mengna. The woman was impatient and in her haste to catch the intruder, activated the branch main brain, and got hacked, causing this chaos.”

”Hacked—it sounds like hacker methods? Moreover, Mengna is one of the few at headquarters who’ve undergone advanced biological transformation; who could hack her?”

”Not clear, the Knight Order, being a terrorist organization, always has some special methods.”

”But I heard the branch’s defense system could only be activated with authorization from the primary administrator,” the investigator said mysteriously.

Charlie remained unemotional, ”You should know what state I was in. Do you think I could collude with outsiders in that state?”

The investigator glanced at the blonde secretary, rubbed his chin, and suddenly chuckled, ”You’re quite lucky; if it hadn’t been for someone overhauling your leadership, your position would be 100% lost given the current situation.”

”Hmph!”

Charlie snorted expressionlessly.

”What does Marubeni say?” Han Tong suddenly asked.

”What else could they say? The newly developed samurai legion was manipulated, the Earth Branch Willow Garden Studio vanished without a trace. Even though the two sides have a good relationship, it still caused a big problem. Fortunately, the specific technical data of the Marubeni Warrior is still intact, or else it would’ve been a major headache.”

Han Tong wanted to interject, but the investigator stopped him, ”Alright, the key now is to rebuild the testing ground and... find that Mr. G!”

”At all costs!!”

...

”Achoo!”

On a stretch of ocean in the Pan-Asian region, Gao Gong sneezed.

”Which rich lady is thinking about me again?”

Opening the Civilization Panel, within the Brain Domain Civilization, the ’Knowledge Chain’ under Mechanical Brain Technology had three more pieces of Professional Knowledge lit up.

[Brain Simulation Technology], [Brain-Machine Transformation], [Brain Speed Information Channel].

This was Gao Gong’s true objective in causing trouble—acquiring the cutting-edge ’fundamental theories’ of the enterprise, also known as ’Professional Knowledge’.

In fact, this time, he obtained five pieces of Professional Knowledge, two of which he had already acquired previously, such as [Information Network], which was part of the Knowledge Chain gifted by Rich Lady Sister Rose.

As more Professional Knowledge accumulates, this situation becomes inevitable.

Among these three pieces of Professional Knowledge, their functions are evident: [Brain Simulation Technology]can transfer brain zone abilities to other parts of the body.

For example, an emotionally rich left hand or a thinking right hand.

[Brain-Machine Transformation]is about knowledge of brain computing capability, useful for enhancing Intelligence, Perception, or brain enhancement plugins.

[Brain Speed Information Channel]focuses on communication abilities, enabling communication solely through the brain without speaking, common in insect nest-like civilizations, but rare among carbon-based species.

All three pieces of knowledge have significant uses; for instance, [Brain Simulation Technology]can develop more advanced combat modes like Man and Sword as One, or Man and Cannon as One. [Brain-Machine Transformation]can develop various pills that permanently increase Intelligence. [Brain Speed Information Channel], though its personal use is limited, is indispensable in group experiments.

Most importantly, with [Brain Chemistry], [Brain Structure], and [Brainwave Control], Gao Gong is only two pieces away from completing the entire ’Mechanical Brain Technology’ chain.

One is called [Brain Ecology], the other is [Zone Zero]

Once the entire Knowledge Chain is completed, the entire Mechanical Brain Technology can be fully illuminated, and then, he can wager on the ’back-of-the-head plug-in’.

According to what he discovered, Director Du has initially gained ’Ms. Qiao’s’ trust, getting closer to touching the ’Dark Girl Plan’.

Compared to his previous life, he needed to enable that girl to gain power faster and then become his strength.

Switching to the personal panel, the Experience bar was already full, and the upgrade button was lit.

Unlike leveling up, each Tier transformation is a life-level enhancement.

The first three tiers can be upgraded independently, but beyond Tier 3, one must depend on a particular civilization.

In the later stages, players seek revenge on society, and this becomes a significant reason.

If they can’t cling to civilization, they can destroy one and gain its heritage for advancement.

The later cosmic nobility lure players to be cannon fodder this way.

”Perfect, during advancement, life will enter a ’purification state’, time for me to lay low—ahem, physically.”

After adding the last bit of Experience, a series of system prompt sounds rang out.

However, by then, Gao Gong couldn’t see them anymore.

A powerful drowsiness began to emerge, and he sank, sank, and sank deeper, descending into the sea, his remaining muscle memory burying him deep below.

The ocean turned into a shell, until finally, it broke free.

That’s on the physical level.

Meanwhile, on the network level, a very special browser opened up.

The search engine portal was a new brand called ’Gaidu’.

It looked like a child of Google and Baidu.
