Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

My name is Ah Q, and I’m a player.

I signed a contract called the ’Life Split Agreement’, so in the game, I lost my memory.

Then, in the game, I took on another mission called ’True Signal Tower’, so I lost my memory again.

In the first mission, I only lost part of my memory.

But in the next mission, I couldn’t even remember the content of the mission.

Can any of you pros help me out?

’The poster is here to trick us again, everyone run!’

’Send me 50, I’ll help you gather people!’

’I am Mr. G, I’m not dead, I’ve hidden 10,000 tons of gold bars in Nightless City. Send me 1,000 Mechanical Coins, and I’ll tell you where the treasure is.’

’Let’s give this poster another chance, even though he scams, cheats, cons, and is shameless, deep down, he’s a good person.’

In reality, Ah Q looked at the replies from other players in the post and sighed helplessly; no one believes the truth these days.

What a pain!

Such a pain!

So, he picked up the holographic helmet and put it on, entering the game world.

What he didn’t know was that as soon as he logged into the game, several private messages popped up.

’Bro, you encountered this bug too?’

’OP, your situation is very similar to mine, maybe we should compare notes.’

’Are you also an intern patient at a mental hospital? Which part of you is being researched?’

...

Meanwhile, in the Balance Branch in Liangzhou City, in a bright meeting room, a pair of mismatched high heels and a pixelated pink undergarment were reflected on the silver-white floor.

By the window, Mengna walked to the table and sat down, smiling slightly, sipping a bit of her coffee, seemingly not planning to speak.

Opposite her sat Han Tong, looking gloomy. At the moment, this first combatant of the Throne Department looked displeased, an intimidating biological aura sweeping the room, causing cracks to appear on the table and floor.

Dr. Liang did not attend; his deputy, Dr. Zhou, did.

Manager Charlie from Administration also did not attend; instead, his president secretary, a blonde woman no less stunning than Mengna, came.

Additionally, there was the restless Zhang Yu.

The moment Zhang Yu received the notice, his first reaction was to flee. If the issue of him selling company interests hadn’t been discovered, why else would they seek him for a meeting, especially on the topic of the Knight Order mole he recommended.

Once he nervously arrived at the meeting room, he realized that the actual situation wasn’t as he’d imagined.

Mengna still did not speak, just tapped the smart table, and the next moment, a projection popped up automatically, accompanied by the voice of the smart table.

”Mr. G, also known as Gao Gong, born in the Iron Sand Desert, 27 years old, a Primordial Person, Mechanical Transformer, Prosthetic Doctor...”

’This resume clearly makes him one of our Knight Order...’ Zhang Yu thought to himself.

In the internet era, it’s hard to keep personal information a secret.

And in the cyber era, not only your personal information, but also your mechanical body model, genome arrangement, and personality components, can all be exposed.

The former obtains your information to profit from you, while the latter gathers all your information to replicate you.

For a biotech giant to quickly grasp Gao Gong’s information is not all that surprising.

”Based on our analyzed information, Mr. G has implanted a large amount of Radiation Beast Bloodline. According to his performance in Nightless City, there’s a 65.4% probability he possesses S-Level Bloodline. Likewise, based on our analysis, this Mr. G is extremely skilled in biotechnology, and the biological chips and prosthetic bodies recently appearing in the market are closely related to him.”

Another figure appeared on the holographic screen, showing the face of Director Du.

”The ’Gao’ in Du Gao Technology is very likely Mr. G’s ’Gao’.”

”Then why would a top scientist from an emerging corporation show up at our Balance Technology’s branch?” the blonde secretary asked.

”That question should be directed to our Manager Zhang, after all, you were the one who recommended him.”

Zhang Yu twitched his eye corners, but before he could explain, another woman, Mengna, waved her hand in interest:

”We won’t discuss other matters for now. The most important thing, Manager Zhang, can you still contact your friend?”

Zhang Yu froze, blurting out, ”He left?”

That shouldn’t be; as an Infiltrator, shouldn’t you obediently stay within the corporation? What’s the matter with fleeing halfway?

”Yes, two days ago, after meeting with Hao Jie from our Throne Department, this top biological expert suddenly disappeared.”

Mengna smiled, wiping the coffee stain from the corner of her mouth, ”As a headhunter, losing your prey is very troubling.”

”Well,” Zhang Yu hesitated, ”I’m not sure, but I can try to contact him.”

”That would be great, then I’ll trouble Manager Zhang to act now.”

Is that it?

Zhang Yu was bewildered as he stood up and walked away in a daze.

”This guy is suspicious,” after the other left, Han Tong suddenly said, ”The probability of being a Business Spy is high.”

”That’s not the point,” Mengna said with a smile, ”The point is, where did my Biological Expert and Hacker Master run off to?”

Dr. Zhou took out a projection-like device without a word, and the next moment, a full map of Liangzhou City was projected, and unlike a typical map, this one had a multitude of particles swirling and howling, their intensity undiminished even when magnified a hundredfold.

These are the city’s biological signals.

Dr. Zhou operated the map, and soon, a long thin line began to appear, first in the 11th Biological Zone, then the 21st Biological Zone, and then the 41st Biological Zone...

It can be seen that Gao Gong’s movements were extremely irregular, but he traveled quickly, changing locations nearly every half hour.

At this rate, in less than three days, he’d have covered most of Liangzhou City.

”So, our Biological Expert hasn’t left but is running around, right?”

”Yes, and as time passes, this person’s traces are becoming harder to track. After all, being a Mechanical Body, he’s not within the range of biological signal detection.”

”Therefore, we request that the Throne Department joins the capture operation,” Mengna smiled, ”After all, capturing this person definitely requires our Corporate Warriors to make a move.”

”I refuse,” Han Tong coldly replied, ”We only protect the branch, everything else is your problem.”

”Oh~ is that so?” Mengna looked deeply at him but didn’t press further, instead looking to the other side.

”I heard that there’s a new model of Super Samurai here in the Liangzhou Branch, right?”

Dr. Zhou replied, ”It can enter combat mode.”

”Wait, what do you mean?” Han Tong’s expression changed, saying.

”Nothing much, it’s just that if the people from the Throne Department don’t act, then I can only mobilize some more obedient weapons.”

Han Tong hesitated for a long time before finally saying, ”We will take action.”

Mengna smiled, ”Since that’s the case, let’s keep the Super Samurai on standby.”

...

Meanwhile, Zhang Yu, covered in sweat, returned to his office, and only after using up half a box of tissues did he manage to stop his sweating.

He couldn’t figure out why, as a spy, this Knight Order mole would be so high-profile — you’re a spy! Isn’t being low-profile supposed to be the top priority?

At this moment, his private communication device rang, and after glancing at the number, his expression changed, quickly turning off all surveillance equipment.

”I am your new contact.”

”Your people are about to be caught!”

In the holographic projection, the Black Shadow representing the Knight Order fell silent for a moment before speaking:

”Our people?”

”Yeah, the one you had me insert into the Balance Branch, that Mr. G, personally arranged by General Dongg.”

”...”

The other side was silent for a moment before saying, ”This time, I contacted you to tell you that General Dongg, along with Winterhold, has been destroyed by the enemy.”

”This enemy’s codename is Mr. G.”

”...”

...

In Liangzhou City, at the rooftop of a tall building in the 123rd Biological Zone, at the center of a vortex, Gao stood looking up at the sky, talking to himself.

”With this, this area is also marked complete.”

”Although Kaibao doesn’t understand what you’re doing, can you add me in?”

Gao turned around to see a small robot with big eyes wobbling over.

”Oh, it’s you,” Gao smiled, ”As expected, you’ve also realized someone is going to sabotage this Cyber Test Field, right?”
