Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

In the immense manufacturing workshop, countless robotic arms move up and down, and soon, a two-meter-tall Mechanical Samurai slowly takes shape.

Though it’s called a Mechanical Samurai, its body is equipped with numerous bionic components that can perfectly simulate the ability of tendons, nerves, and even cells. At this moment, it flexibly moves parts of its hands and feet, with dense energy flowing between the gaps in its armor.

In other words, it possesses ’biological instincts.’

Artificial biological instincts.

”Let’s try the implantation program first.”

”Okay.”

As the Armament Engineer operates, several tubes are inserted into the Mechanical Samurai’s forehead, waist, and chest.

They respectively infuse neural memory, cell memory, and sensory memory.

The combination of the three memories will give birth to a presence called ’soul.’

The next moment, the new generation Marubeni Warrior’s eyes light up.

...

I am Marubeni No. 14123, a new generation killing machine jointly created by Balance Technology and Marubeni Global Security.

My performance surpasses all other mechanical warriors and prosthetic transformers of the same size on the market.

The reason I am so powerful is that I utilize the latest Biological Transformation Technology.

I don’t need chips, processors, or any intelligent support equipment.

All parts of my body will be equipped with the deadliest weapons, 100% installed!

The ’Instinctive Combat Program,’ composed of tens of millions of biological signals, will inject a ’temporary soul’ into me.

And with a soul, I can fight!

…but why do I need to fight?

”How’s the debugging going?”

”Not bad, still the old issue, once the artificial soul is generated, self-consciousness awakens. This aspect needs more adjustments.”

”You need to hurry; Marubeni is pushing quite hard, saying it’s for weapon stockpiling for the Corporate War.”

”In a rush? Then just add money.”

”Don’t talk nonsense, we’re in the same boat with them now.”

”Once the ’Biological Program Robots’ can be mass-produced, even at headquarters, we will get recognized.”

As the Biologist and Armament Engineer discuss, the enormous manufacturing workshop operates once again.

One after another, ’Large Mechanical Warriors’ are being produced, and their level is 45.

...

Ah Q witnessed the high-level NPC’s skin disintegrate like dust before muscles, blood vessels, and even the internal organs, and brain matter evaporated visibly.

Then this strange NPC lay down.

”This, this, this—”

Ah Q’s first reaction wasn’t to report it but to loot the corpse.

However, the next moment, the mechanical skull sat up abruptly, with a peculiar smile on the faceless face, the gaze in the hollow eye sockets seems substantial.

”You, you are alive again?!” Ah Q sat down with shock.

”Yes, I lost one life, one left.”

The attributes on the panel are quite striking—

Biological Blood Volume: 0/7127

Biological Energy: 0/57810

Biological Computer (Sealed)

All the skills on the Biological Side have turned gray.

Gao Gong’s organism attributes are equivalent to a level 50 Advanced Biological Warrior, but its blood volume was instantly drained, and all sorts of powerful Biological Plugins and High-level Species Bloodline were of no use.

This is the terrifying aspect of the Cyber Test Field.

In it, you’re given no chance to resist.

But as an experienced driver, everything in front of Gao was within his expectations.

Without an organism, he still has a mechanical body.

With a raspy metallic friction sound emanating from his throat, Gao Gong coughed twice, the memory metal in the throat area started to protrude and reformed the Adam’s apple, although his voice still carried the distinct metallic friction sound of a robot, at least he could speak now.

”Your custom suit,” the Bionic Man salesperson smiled sweetly, in her eyes, whether the opposite party is a normal person or a mechanical skull makes no difference.

”Mm.”

Gao Gong put on the slightly smaller custom suit, which fit perfectly, and nodded in satisfaction.

”You should go to work now.”

”Huh? But—”

Ah Q wanted to say something, but suddenly countless blood threads swelled in his pupils, and he subconsciously replied—

”I understand.”

Oh no, I’ve been possessed by an NPC!

Looking at the ’Biological Control Mode’ on the player panel, Ah Q felt like crying but had no tears.

”Wait a moment.”

The mechanical skull called out to him, pointing at the salesperson.

”Pay for me.”

......

I am Ah Q, a liver emperor type player.

The meaning of my existence is to log in for eight hours every day to grind, and then let another me show off in the game.

The so-called ’代肝工具人’ (substitute liver toolman), that’s me.

What’s even more frustrating is that others play games for rich people who pay them, while I tirelessly grind tasks for a fool and end up losing money.

The key point being, this fool is me.

Oh right, today this fool took half a day off, who knows where he went to enjoy himself.

As usual, Ah Q walked into the production workshop dressed in a white uniform, with a face as though his mother had died.

As a level 20 Armament Engineer, his daily routine was like this: first, perform restoration work on mechanical bodies from yesterday’s failed experiments, then design and adjust new weapons according to the client’s requirements, and if there’s time left, run errands for some Biological Experts in other departments.

Although the work is monotonous, it does provide quite a bit of experience.

Balance Technology is a biological giant, employing hundreds of thousands, and it’s natural that those front-line Biological Experts hold the most power and highest status.

Running errands for those Biological Experts is probably the most interesting job.

Possibly due to the leave, when he returned to the company, most of the work had already been taken over, but slacking off is impossible, and soon the Artificial Intelligence assigned him a temporary task.

Repair some machinery for the Bioinformatics expert, Dr. Liang.

Where Dr. Liang is located is the company’s underground test base.

’It’s the first time coming here, uh, not necessarily.’

After all, memories can be deleted.

According to his memories, Dr. Liang is the top-tier technical expert here.

With the automatic opening of the security doors, Ah Q walked into the experimental base he had no permission to enter before, and met Dr. Liang.

’This guy’s head is really big!’

That was Ah Q’s first impression.

This guy’s head is almost as large as his upper body, and what’s even more peculiar is that it’s cone-shaped, looking like a huge fleshy nail.

’This guy must be a modified monster too.’

On the Mechanical Split Star, body modification is extremely popular, especially among frontline researchers who love self-modification to enhance memory, computational power, and even enhance the rather superstitious ’inspiration for research’.

After all, once the fundamental theories are broken through, it will surely trigger a technological frenzy of the era.

This is every scientist’s pursuit.

For this purpose, anything can be modified.

Dr. Liang was surrounded by a group of people, and a robot came over, directly guiding him to the repair location, which was filled with a large amount of scrapped experimental equipment.

’Signal towers, communication devices, all military-grade, is it another military contractor’s order?’

Ah Q repaired these machines while keeping his ears open.

He didn’t worry about being discovered, for the fact is, all memories he has here will only stay here.

Dr. Liang’s voice was somewhat irritable.

”You want Artificial Souls but don’t want Artificial Intelligence, you want Wisdom but want to entirely eliminate emotions, aren’t your demands too high?”

Opposite him, a little old man in Japanese military uniform was stooped over, looking respectful but not budging at all.

”We at Marubeni believe your side can achieve this. We only need pure, absolutely controllable Warriors, not robots that might rebel any moment.”

”You should know, robots with wisdom receive protection from General Cybertron, and we don’t want our corporate assets to be damaged. In this regard, trust me, we have a common language with you.”

”What we need is pure beasts.”

As the two continued their discussion, they walked off into the distant Signal Tower, and Ah Q gradually couldn’t hear them anymore.

After repairing these military signal towers, the robot came over, gestured to him, and the two took these signal towers and walked towards the Signal Tower.

The signal tower at the test base was quite peculiar, looking like a tree composed of over ten thousand wires, countless bioelectric currents lighting up and exploding on the tree crown.

Just entering, a strong sense of dread came over.

’Level 2 Building - Biological Signal Tower!’

Looking at the introduction on the game panel, Ah Q took a deep breath, the biological energy of this signal tower was actually in the millions.

That’s too exaggerated, right!?

Feeling extremely uneasy, Ah Q walked into the tower, and in that instant, he seemed to enter Cyber Space.

Consciousness transformed positions between endless sinking and rising, signals gathered like torrents from all directions.

Unlike the Cyber Network that handles ’Sensory Signals’, here it is biological signals, so, for a moment, Ah Q felt like he grew countless limbs, and the next moment, it was like his whole self split, growing wildly...

This sensation lasted till interrupted and awakened by the robot.

Countless grain-like protrusions were already growing from his body surface.

”Take this medicine, it’ll alleviate your symptoms.”

”Install these signal towers, and you can leave.”

Ah Q quickly took the medicine the robot offered, swallowing it, and the hallucination instantly decreased by ninety percent, and the protrusions rapidly withered, falling away like dried Bean Sprouts.

On the system panel, the state known as[Biological Signal Rampage]quickly disappeared.

In such an environment, he couldn’t afford to be distracted, and as he crossed paths with Dr. Liang, he seemed to hear terms like ’solution modification’, ’Brain Beam’, and ’signal’.

An hour later, Ah Q left the biological test base, sat in the elevator, and the prior memories had long been completely erased.

He even forgot who Dr. Liang was.

However, a voice filled with a hint of laughter unexpectedly emerged from Ah Q’s mouth.

’So that’s it, is it about manufacturing such weapons, the purpose of this test field.’

...

Meanwhile, at a street corner, in a Signal Tower, the mechanical skeleton known as Gao Gong’s mechanical body inserted a connecting line into its wrist.

’Processing information——’

’Information connection completed’

Soon, a holographic projection popped up, it was Manager Zhang Yu.

”Who are you? Why do you have my private communication code?”

Zhang Yu skeptically scrutinized the skull in front of him.

”Do I need to say it? Manager Zhang Yu, ’General Dongg’ asked me to pass you a message.”
