Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 456: Chapter 1: A-level Sea Serpent

On the low cliff, the ’Trilobite’ gazed at the endless ocean and inhaled the unique iron rust-scented sea breeze, letting out a long sigh.

”When will this damn profession change task be completed?”

”The little bug is babbling nonsense again, hurry up, it’s your turn for duty today, head into the sea.”

The Biological Hunter uncle next to him mocked him as usual, then pushed him off the cliff.

”Even if I go into the sea, make sure to censor it for me!”

This was the player Trilobite’s final struggle.

Then, he crashed into the water, sinking tens of meters deep in an instant, with a strong feeling of suffocation and ear ringing, just like an ordinary person falling into the water.

With a thought, his chest started to beat violently, and five thick tendons burst from his chest, with four extending to his limbs and one drilling into his chin along a major blood vessel.

Trilobite shivered intensely.

Though reluctant to admit it, the sensation of the ’Biological Chip’ activating was undeniably somewhat improper.

The next moment, Trilobite’s hands and feet sprouted webbed fingers, while gills squeezed out from his jaws, instantly dispelling the previous suffocation, replaced by a sense of euphoria.

Trilobite emitted a bizarre scream and dived into the deep sea, swimming towards a distant trench.

As a player hailing from the Iron Sand Desert, Trilobite felt that even if he didn’t have a godly start, it was at least an earthly one.

Although lacking enough Intelligence, having no Talent for manipulating Mechanical Bodies, failing to get into the Mecha Academy, and unable to play with devices.

But due to sufficient Perception, he caught the eye of an Old Hunter upon rejection, transforming into a Biological Hunter—a very intriguing Profession.

With various wild creatures, richly rewarding hunting tasks, and free faction biological bloodline implants, compared to those city players with tragic experiences, Trilobite felt he was in Heaven.

But the recent level 20 profession change task had him troubled.

He needed to find the most suitable High-level Bloodline to create his third Biological Chip.

At the start, Biological Hunters receive a Low-level Biological Chip for free from the faction, capable of recording five Low-level Radiation Beast Bloodlines.

Upon reaching level 10, players undergo their First Transformation and can exchange Hunting Points for an Intermediate Chip, which can record the bloodlines of three Intermediate Radiation Beasts, equivalent to D-level and C-level Radiation Beast Bloodlines.

However, at level 20, the profession change task suddenly becomes challenging.

Not only must he acquire a B-level Bloodline, but it also has to be from an Intelligent Species.

Because, according to his chip Implanter, the punk girl faction NPC Helli Wilder, only Intelligent Species can reduce Biological Rejection.

Otherwise, simply implanting a B-level Bloodline has a 55.9% probability of causing bloodline rampage.

Trilobite had barely caught up with the steps of first-tier players; he wouldn’t risk losing this account.

When he complained to his Hunter mentor, the Old Hunter, the Old Hunter sneered.

”Young people don’t know how to cherish what they have; being able to break through the Hunter limit is such a blissful matter. Back then, we had no biological chips, no rejection inhibitors, no...”

In short, a whole heap of reminiscing mixed with admiration for the faction leader, the great Legendary Hunter ’Wilderness Lone Wolf’.

Trilobite’s ears were about to develop calluses from hearing it.

But being able to establish a faction NPC is indeed quite something; who knows how long their health bar is, or how tough they are to fight.

Fortunately, his usual reputation brushing paid off, and after various inquiries, he finally discovered two pieces of good news related to the task.

The first is that there is a sighting of an Intelligent Species underwater called the Ocean People.

Although the Ocean People are a B-level Bloodline themselves, they are not very powerful, just well hidden and hard to find.

The second is that in the deepest part of the Land of Flames, there is a Legendary Level faction Guardian Beast, seemingly called ’Brain-in-a-Vat’.

To see it, faction points must reach 100,000.

Trilobite applied to go underwater without hesitation.

The dark sea area appeared as bright as daylight to him due to his implanted C-level Bloodline ’Eye of the Deep Sea Fish King’—dubbed the Sea King’s Eye—which, besides granting oceanic vision, also gives fish species a +500 favorability.

Though this ability is quite useless, during the profession change task, it became widely valuable.

Suddenly, Trilobite squinted his eyes, abruptly diving and hiding behind a rock.

Not far off, two figures in diving suits were moving, with metal skulls visible behind their diving goggles.

”Skull heads, damn it, those Knight Order bastards again!”

Trilobite originally held no ill will towards them until one of these blasted a little spawn just before its death, utterly disgusting him.

Science keeps progressing, irrespective of the faction.

The current Knight Order Artificial Soldiers are even stronger than half a year ago, not only in Defense, Attack Power, but also with their exclusive biomechanical technology.

Even the lowest-level Artificial Soldiers can trigger ’Biomechanical Burst’, a simplified version of ’Biomechanical Unity’, doubling 1-2 Attributes temporarily, making them tougher than cockroaches.

Trilobite suffered significantly during this period.

However, watching these two guys’ actions, they seemed to be burying something?

Trilobite held back his impulse to act, for doing so now would merely alert the target.

Ten minutes later, after the enemies left, Trilobite swam over to investigate the installation.
