Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 454: Chapter 193: Preparations Before Departure

On Fucheng Island, Gao Gong listened lazily to Tamil’s report, especially when he heard that ’Nightless City’ had become ’Orbit City,’ he couldn’t help but laugh.

”Whether it’s mecha or star armor, essentially, they are large mechanical bodies that assist humans in combat. Humans are the real controllers.”

”But that’s not necessarily the case.”

”In fact, mechanical life has also developed a technology that allows humans, or rather, intelligent species, to assist it in battle. This system is called the ’Intelligent Species Implant.’

”Boss, are you saying that the new mechanical main brain is preparing to develop this kind of technology?” Tamil quickly continued.

Ever since learning that Daisila made a breakthrough with the boss’s support, this person couldn’t wait for Gao Gong to start training him right away. As soon as he arrived on the island, he stuck around Gao Gong.

”Maybe it’s also influenced by some kind of mechanical species, just not sure which faction of mechanical species it is.”

”Whether the Mechanical Hub or the Mechanical Legion, both are produced in the Planet Factory under General Cybertron’s command, and their relationship is quite good.”

Gao Gong waved his hand and asked Tamil to call the two people over.

Quickly, Yao Xue and Jack K came over together.

”Have you both made up your minds and completely decided to join us?”

”From now on, President Du’s will and President Gao’s will become the will of our Mercenary Clan!” Yao Xue said firmly, and her tone was no longer seductive.

As Daisila revealed, in Nightless City, after Yao Xue negotiated with Director Du, she walked out pale, leaning against the wall.

It’s said that Director Du negotiated a super harsh contract with the other party.

Even with so much capital, Director Du’s personality is still improving, which Gao Gong couldn’t understand.

”And you, Jack? Orbit City no longer follows the ’human chip’ route,” Gao Gong curiously looked at this burly man.

”Your reemployment as a retired person is quite rare.”

Honestly, Lady Red Dream choosing to join didn’t surprise him.

However, Lady Red Dream chose to stay in the new Orbit City, continuing as a local bully, while Jack followed the fleet over here.

Jack K, with an electronic cigar in his mouth, looked fierce, even more so than when he sold noodles.

”It’s nothing, I just wanted to move around. Your place is a good choice.”

This super mercenary who hunts bionic men paused and finally revealed a bit.

”I heard from a certain woman that you are going to take action against those ’assembly trash,’ right? I’m very interested in this.”

A certain woman, Sister Rose?

As for assembly trash, that’s a derogatory term for bionic men from decades ago.

This middle-aged man seems to have a past too, and if you dig deeper, there’s probably more to the story.

In the alliance panel, two system prompt sounds rang out—

[Level 35 Modified Human Jack K joined the alliance, alliance experience +200,000, leader reputation +800]

[Armed Mercenary Clan Leader Yao Xue joined the alliance, alliance experience +200,000, leader reputation +1,000]

The leader reputation suddenly reached 29,800, and according to the system prompt, once reputation exceeds 50,000, it will trigger a boss template mission.

This will be Gao Gong’s fourth boss template.

”Rest assured, both of you, since you’ve chosen to join us, we won’t leave you on the sidelines,” Gao Gong reassured them with a smile.

”Du Gao Technology is about to establish a new ’Corporate Security Department,’ which will become a core department of Du Gao Technology. The business will focus on accepting corporate orders and providing security work for large enterprises. The various corporate weapons we have seized and developed, both of you need to become acquainted with them soon...”

Hearing this, Yao Xue secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Although she prides herself as resourceful, when facing that woman, she ends up crushed.

There’s no way around it; the other party holds too much, a gap in power that skills can’t compensate for.

Fortunately, the clan wasn’t split, and she didn’t end up on the sidelines.

Yao Xue knew her value and hastily expressed her loyalty.

”In the Mercenary Clan, there are many talented people fighting outside. I will persuade them along with other clan leaders to join Du Gao Technology.”

”Apart from that, our clan’s intelligence network will soon be handed over to the organization.”

Gao Gong nodded in satisfaction, not demanding that people have no ambition. In fact, Gao Gong would rather they have a bit more ambition.

A bit more, in every sense.

After soothing the two, Gao Gong cheerfully went to his president’s office, where Du Zhaodi was working.

Director Du hadn’t slept for three days, still working, and Gao Gong, even seeing this, felt a bit liver-pained. He sneaked up, finding she was examining the new blueprint he gave her.

[Universal Machine Consciousness]

The technology that could make mecha intelligent is undoubtedly a significant killing weapon.

Just as Gao Gong was about to massage her shoulders, Director Du pulled him down to sit and study together.

”This is our mecha line and mecha sales. Take a look first.”

This workaholic wanted to work together on this.

Gao Gong scratched his head and started going through the materials, quickly stunned by a number.

”In the past six months, you sold 200,000 mechas?”

In the alliance panel, producing one mecha rewards a thousand alliance points, 200,000 mechas is 200 million!

Gao Gong finally understood where his billions of alliance experience came from.

”Who have you sold it to?”

Du Zhaodi glanced sideways at the other person and, unusually, didn’t answer directly but changed the subject.

”Are you sure there’s nothing wrong with this kind of technology?”

”Believe me, this is the Empire’s highest technology! Have you seen the gigantic engine wreckage beneath Fucheng Island? That’s an imperial relic.”

Whenever there’s an inexplicable blueprint or information, the Empire is a good scapegoat.

”To mass-produce this universal machine AI, we need a sufficient number of Neural Editors.”

Gao Gong was about to answer when a playful voice suddenly came forth.

”Brother, we can help!”

Amidst pure white data radiance, a girl dressed all in white, like an angel, suddenly stepped into reality.

”Weren’t you studying the [Remote Backup Center] I gave you?” Gao Gong asked, surprised.

This technology is very useful for AI; after all, being able to back up in the Backup Center means AI won’t be so easily destroyed.

”I finished studying it, brother.”

Another relentless worker!

Seeing Gao Gong’s astonished expression, Gao Yuanyuan couldn’t help but cover her mouth and laugh.

”Uh, alright, let me introduce you—”

”No need to introduce, Sister Du, brother’s bride, right? We’ve met.”

Director Du, who always had a calm demeanor, blushed slightly at the mention of ’bride.’

And as for someone seasoned like Gao Gong, how could he not be tactful? He immediately nodded and said gravely, ”Of course, she’ll be your sister-in-law from now on.”

”I’ll stay to help sister-in-law, and you, brother, can go out with peace of mind. Isn’t that good?”

”You want to stay?”

”Exactly, and, brother, aren’t you researching other imperial technologies? Leave it to me, how about that?”

”Leave it to you?”

Gao Gong felt somewhat tempted, knowing that engaging in ’blueprint modeling’ would inevitably consume a lot of energy, leaving it to ’professionals’ seemed more reliable.

After all, there are some tactics that can’t simply be showcased through coding.

”Rest assured, Yuanyuan will stay on my side, and I’ll take good care of her.”

”Care... is not my worry, just, when did you two become so close?”

Gao Gong skeptically examined the two women, suspecting they were up to something behind his back.

Gao Yuanyuan hummed lightly, while Director Du directly reengaged in work mode, with no intention of entertaining him.

”Ahem, alright, since you both are willing, I have no objection.”

Gao Gong thought for a moment, then changed the subject: ”Before I leave, there are some things to settle first. ’Corporate War,’ has Du Gao Technology decided to participate?”

”Of course! How could we pass on such a feast?” Du Zhaodi said emphatically.

The global corporate war is a massive battle on the corporate level, yet for military contractors, it’s a feast. Numerous corporate orders will pour down like mana from heaven, and various corporate secrets will be open to contractors who sign agreements.

In this battle, not only can you make money, but you can also absorb the most advanced technologies; a win-win—provided you’re not knocked out.

In the corporate war, more contractors than corporations perish. When a corporation loses, it’s mostly annexed; it’s the military contractors who often end up obliterated.

So Gao Gong was still contemplating.

But Du Zhaodi was resolute, determined to participate. It was an opportunity for a military group to make a significant leap forward.

”In that case, I have no objections either,” Gao Gong said, tapping the table with a smile.

”I suppose at this point, all major corporations have begun secretly reaching out to us mercenaries. Have you decided who to collaborate with?”

”Not with the Bionic Men,” the two women said in unison.

”...”

Gao Gong remained silent for a moment, decisively steering clear of this dangerous topic.

”Besides being a feast for military contractors, the world corporate war is also a great opportunity for certain neglected projects, idle talents, and marginalized executives within companies to reclaim power. Although they lack resources, the collaboration threshold is lower.”

”I happen to know a secret intelligence, it’s about the Holy Brain Group...”

The Holy Brain Group, one of the top four giants in the Biological Domain, has its fixed partners.

Notably, the Holy Brain Group has many clandestine connections with underground sects, with lots of internal secrets, and rarely hires outsiders.

Let alone novices like Du Gao Technology.

But as Gao Gong said, no super corporation is completely unified inside. Each division and executive has different interest demands.

For example, the person in charge of the 2134 Biological Project—Ms. Qiao Hong.

She herself isn’t something remarkable, not even a top executive, just a mid-level manager.

But the person she’s in charge of is immensely prestigious.

The ultimate victor of the corporate war, the next executive officer of the Holy Brain Group—Dark Girl.

If Director Du can connect with this line, to some extent, it’s as good as winning by default.
