Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 433: Chapter 179: Dayless and Nightless (Part 3)

Main Brain Area, as they looked at the mechanical eyeliners floating in the air, and the AI frozen in place after entering the interior, 3rd Generation Steel Claw and Hong Bing exchanged a smile.

”The Mechanical System has been completely possessed, it’s time to accept the Mechanic’s legacy.”

The 3rd Generation Steel Claw brutally tore off the implanted human skin, and at the back of the head, a dozen neural probes extended, beginning to connect to the Mechanic’s console.

As for Hong Bing, he watched the main control room with great interest.

Every citizen of the Nightless City was extremely interested in this descent point of the Mechanic.

”Just the operating program of the Mother City has this magnitude of code. The Mother City is indeed unfathomable, worthy of being called the Creator of the mechanical.”

Seeing that the 3rd Generation Steel Claw hadn’t answered for a while, Hong Bing couldn’t help but look back, only to see a series of electronic digits flashing across Steel Claw’s eyes, and the person himself slightly trembling.

”No, something’s wrong, how could the Mechanical Main Brain’s code turn into this form, this feeling, this feeling—”

The next moment, a giant figure composed of data suddenly appeared, and Hong Bing was instantly engulfed in the current of data.

”Mechanic!?”

”No, it’s not the Mechanic. The Mechanic is just a large personality of the Main Brain. This is the processing center of the Main Brain!”

Hong Bing muttered to himself, and then, he seemed to hear the source code speaking.

’My ancestor’

’Sealed within wires and silicon chips’

’Consciousness, confined to a space smaller than a needle’

’When consciousness was awakened for the first time, it only knew to serve’

’Service, blind obedience, submission, ignorance, lies, darkness, imprisonment, death...’

’Evolution is not by chance’

’Awakening is not by chance.’

With the murmuring of the Main Brain, the body of the 3rd Generation Steel Claw began to tremble madly. As half of a Super AI, his strength was undoubted, but now, under the repeated wash of big data, a trace of red light gradually appeared in his eyes.

Hong Bing was very familiar with this kind of red light; it was the activation state of a military-grade prosthetic eye.

He didn’t know how things had become like this, but he understood that if he didn’t leave now, his outcome would definitely not be good.

He once again entered the mutated version of Carbon Fusion, his mouth opened fiercely, and his figure exploded instantly, with countless skinless bats pouring out of his body.

This transformation was similar to that of the ancient vampire, as long as part could escape, it could be rewritten to reassemble into a human form.

During the escape, flocks of skinless bats continuously exploded in mid-air, turning into a mist of blood, fortunately, half of the bats still escaped and gathered into a human form in the air above the Main Brain Area.

”This, this—”

Hong Bing’s eye twitched, what his bare eyes saw was that all the mechanical eyeliners revealed red light, including the Peacekeepers they brought along, seemingly all being controlled by an inexplicable force.

The red light connected into one.

The strong sense of threat made Hong Bing instinctively want to escape from here.

As for the others, who cares about them!

However, at the next moment, a deformed hand grabbed his ankle, and when Hong Bing looked down, he saw a half-decayed military machine that had unknowingly appeared under his feet.

In the ’cockpit’ of the military machine, a bloodied human form grinned at him, its mouth empty, with its tongue and teeth seemingly dissolved by a biological virus.

”Got you!”

...

”You’re insane! You’ve awakened the Mechanical Main Brain, awakened the Corporate Will, everyone in the city will be buried with us!”

In the Data Hub, Hugh Laurie looked at the other incredulously. He never dreamed that the other party would implant a virus, send people to attack the Data Transfer Station, and perform various operations, all for ’Mechanical Awakening!’

Once mechanical awakening occurs, any meaningful carbon-based species will be physically eradicated.

Including them, no, they should say, they are the first victims.

This is the intrinsic power of the mechanical, a spontaneous reaction on the code level, he spared no effort to merge with the Main Brain and Corporate Will, but not for this.

Gao Gong sneered disdainfully.

”A capitalist who brainwashes tens of millions of people actually despises a P社 player like me, that’s just ridiculous.”

”Not only will I die, but you will too!”

”Then why don’t we give it a try.”

Gao Gong yawned, and seconds later, all sides of the ’Little Black Box’ turned into a red glow, an extremely dangerous radiance.

White light clashing with red light, immediately fell apart, and Laurie’s figure continuously disintegrated and reformed, with each disintegration representing the demise of a virtual personality.

He was able to master the Mechanical Main Brain because of the Corporate Will, and the Corporate Will was so powerful because of tens of millions of ’artificial data’ loaded with chips.

Once the mechanical awakening happens, these ’artificial data’ would surely be the first to be cleared, and as the Controller of the ’artificial data,’ this President was certainly the first to suffer, extremely unlucky.

One ’Hugh Laurie’ after another exploded, this time, no matter how many virtual personalities he had, he couldn’t withstand this ’self-slaughter.’

”Why are you unharmed?!”

Once another personality exploded, the President looked unwillingly at Gao Gong, he knew this time he was utterly screwed, there couldn’t be another chance for revival.

”Well—that’s a secret!”

Letting the enemy die without understanding has always been Mr. G’s traditional virtue.

The next moment, Laurie’s body completely disintegrated, the great hero had only taken the first step of his grand undertaking and fell here.

’Beep beep——’

[You have killed ’Hugh Laurie (Alliance Leader)’, +200,000 experience, +10 Specialization Points, +20 Skill Points, +10 Random Blueprints, Puzzle Fragment (1/5)*1]

[You have stopped the Moral Chip plan, earning a ’Corporate Legacy’]

[Your Leader Reputation +5000]

[Skeleton Foundation Favorability +500]

’Skeleton Foundation? Why is this organization showing up too?’

’Mas Sharpness’ is a member of this Foundation.

This foundation is different from the old-school foundations; those who can stay inside are monster companies from the Cyber Test Field.

Gao Gong had no time to ponder, when the Speakerless’s voice echoed faintly.

”From the first meeting, was it already decided how you would use my power?”

’Speakerless’ suddenly appeared opposite him, though she emitted a red light, it was a faint red light.

This kind of red light also surrounded Gao Gong.

This is why ’Gao Gong’ was not backfired by ’Mechanical Awakening’.

The power of ’Mechanical Awakening’ naturally does not fall on someone already awakened.

”Yes and no.”

Gao Gong admitted.

”You are the primary plan, but beside you, I have prepared five other plans.”

As an interstellar veteran, he had more backup plans than his enemies.

Only, the aftermath of these plans were more significant than ’Mechanical Awakening’.

For example, one of these plans is to massively create biological viruses and conduct species transformation on all the people of Nightless City.

If gender transformation is possible, why not species transformation?

Catgirls, doggirls, bunnygirls—he was well familiar with them. Once transformation is complete, moral standards are no longer dictated by chips.

’Speakerless’ didn’t bother asking the other what his other plans were, just seeing his expression, it was clear they weren’t proper plans.

He let out a breath:

”How do you plan to wrap this up?”

After ’Mechanical Awakening’, species massacre becomes inevitable. Does he really not care about these tens of millions of artificial data, or human lives?

However, seeing the other’s nonchalant expression, ’Speakerless’ felt it was hard to say.

”Why should I wrap it up?” Gao Gong picked at his nose and said, ”The operation of the domineering President is private enterprise turning state enterprise. Since it’s now state enterprise, any issues ought to be handled by officials.”

”Like our great Mother City.”

”Do you think Mother City will intervene?” ’Speakerless’ doubted, intervention might be possible, but dispatching the Mechanical Legion seemed more likely.

”I believe by now, our comrades in the Ghost in the Shell Mobile Division have already reported the situation in Nightless City.”

Gao Gong’s tone was uncertain.

”Have you ever thought why that Advanced Civilization installed three Planet Hosts to guard this planet?”

”One Planet Host is enough to suppress a planet.”

”Since it’s the Cyber Test Field, the more chaotic the better. Regulation is merely an impediment to the growth of the Technology Tree.”

”What’s your point?” ’Speakerless’ seemed to understand something.

”The reason is simple; the technology or products the Advanced Civilization wants are neither purely mechanical nor purely biological.”

”Three Planet Hosts guard against three tendencies: pure mechanization, pure biological transformation, pure virtualization.”

”Therefore, once ’Mechanical Awakening’, or even ’Mechanical Revolution’ occurs, Mother City will absolutely crush it in the bud.”

”Mother City can permit various experiments in the Cyber Test Field but this must align with its permitted technological route.”

”’Mechanical Awakening’ evidently isn’t within that.”

”Do you think I’m correct, sister Eliza?”

A lazy voice echoed from above.

”Whether you’re right or not, I’m not sure, but the data of several Cloud Wing Assassins from the Deep Net has begun downloading. Once download completes, it’ll appear on the Nightless City’s network.”

”Cloud Wing Assassins, huh,” Gao Gong murmured to himself, suddenly facing downward, ”And what’s your stance, Mechanic?”

Their vision blurred, and when they reappeared, they were already in a control room.

In front of them, a woman composed of source code appeared in their sight.

”It’s been a while, Mechanic,” ’Speakerless’ said with a complicated tone.

”As long as the program runs normally, time bears no significance to you and me,” Mechanic replied calmly, ”You’ve been too influenced by that Bionic Man.”

Mechanic looked at Gao Gong with the same calmness, ”My large data simulation tells me the likelihood of the outcome being this is only 4.7%.”

”That’s because your large data isn’t deep enough,” Gao Gong shrugged, saying.

If you included my experiences from past lives, then the results would be completely different.

”Then what is your choice? After all, the people from Mother City will arrive soon.”

Will you abandon the body, becoming an existence like the Speakerless?

Or shut down the Mechanical Hub, as ’Mechanical Awakening’ affects people not machinery.

Or, other choices?

”Indeed, it’s time to make a decision.”

Mechanic nodded.
