Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 412: Chapter 163: Cell Woman_2

The homebody elevated to godhood by millions of Cyber Race surely possesses more than just a little power.

...

Fucheng Island, 6 a.m. Dr. Yuu, who was in the midst of organizing her materials and luggage, was astonished to hear a piece of news.

The technology lock on metallic cells had been unlocked.

However, she was only slightly surprised and soon regained her composure.

The working environment here was excellent; the equipment was comprehensive, and even Mr. G had helped her resolve a series of troubles caused by bankruptcy.

Logically speaking, she ought not to be ungrateful.

But the only problem was that what the other party wanted her to research was large-scale biological transformation, while she wanted to study the origin of life.

This was an irreconcilable conflict.

Therefore, she could only apologize to the other party.

The first common ancestor of life was the direction she pursued.

From the simplest genetic parasites to large viruses, bacteria, simple eukaryotes, and complex eukaryotic cells, up to multicellular organisms, everything stabilized perfectly.

This was an incredible feat.

Yet it happened naturally just like that.

In Dr. Yuu’s view, this was the most beautiful and incredible process in the world.

No matter the cost, she had to uncover the truth within.

A knocking was heard.

Dr. Yuu frowned. Through the surveillance, she saw the mechanical body of the ’Boss.’

Was this one still not giving up?

Dr. Yuu took a deep breath, just ready to decisively refuse with words, but as soon as she opened the door, she heard a sweet voice.

”Hello, sister!” Xiao Yu cheerfully called out.

”You, you are——”

Dr. Yuu was somewhat incredulous. She was not interested in cosplay, but she had heard of cross-dressing enthusiasts.

Could it be that Boss G was actually versed in this art?

Xiao Yu chuckled, ”It’s me, not the boss. The boss is busy.”

From the perception of the biological aura, it indeed was not the person from yesterday.

”Young lady, who are you?”

”I’m called Xiao Yu, the Xiao from Xiao Family, the Yu from electronic rain.” As soon as Xiao Yu rushed in, she babbled on.

”Sister, are you a biologist? That’s amazing! My dad often told me while he was alive to respect scientists; they are the true monsters. Ah! I didn’t mean you are a monster, sister. However, your room has so many bottles and jars; what are these things? Don’t worry, I have great balance and promise not to touch anything.”

Dr. Yuu pressed her lips together; this little lady really made herself at home. But, was her surname Xiao?

Dr. Yuu had mentors too, and hers was an empire remnant who often told her stories from the empire days, in which the Xiao Family frequently appeared.

But that wasn’t important anymore.

As Dr. Yuu was about to escort the overly energetic girl out, Xiao Yu suddenly slapped her forehead, acting startled.

”I almost forgot, the boss sent me over for something, Sister Yuu. The boss told me you could repair my injuries, right?”

”Injuries?”

Dr. Yuu glanced at the cracks on the other’s mechanical body, shaking her head, ”I’m a biologist, not a mechanical expert. You’ve found the wrong person.”

”Oh~”

Xiao Yu puffed her cheeks, wearing a resentful expression that somehow induced a feeling of guilt in Dr. Yuu, but it seemed she remembered something.

”Right, the boss also said that if you refuse, I’m supposed to show you this.”

Xiao Yu slapped her forehead again, her eyes changed, and a terrifying killing intent caused the surrounding glassware to crack. Next moment, black gas, transformed from Destructive Energy, surged out from all parts of her body. Each wisp of black gas induced a suffocating feeling in Dr. Yuu.

”This is——”

”Nika Bacteria Macrofission!!??”

Hardly anyone knew that the origin of life didn’t stem from a birth, but from a destruction.

A bacterium somehow inhabited another body.

This habitation was destructive, directly breaking down the energy shackles of another bacterium.

The remnants of the breakdown developed into a massive species evolution over time.

This process is the energy release process of ’Nika Bacteria.’

And the energy released by ’Nika Bacteria’ in this process, in ancient texts, is called ’Destructive Energy.’

...

Gao Gong, or rather, Gao Gong’s only remaining mechanical head, was working on the console with tubes inserted into the back of his skull.

He had to admit that the gap between a Level 10 Biologist and a Level 20 Origin Scholar is quite significant.

After unlocking the seal on metallic cells, he spent an entire night and only unlocked three Genetic Chains.

Moreover, these three Genetic Chains were those of the ’Pupil.’

This was a headache.

As a software master, he indeed wasn’t good with hardware.

In his last lifetime, he never built a Giant Structure either.

Soon, Gao Gong’s trouble was resolved.

Dr. Yuu came charging in with terrifying speed, dragging along a dumbfounded Xiao Yu.

”Here she comes, right on time for work.”

Gao Gong bore a capitalistic attitude, raising his chin, wrinkling his nose, and looking with disdain, a look of viewing rubbish.

Having already hooked her in, he didn’t care about his attitude.

”Boss, you make me want to hit you. Can I smack you?” Honest Xiao Yu asked earnestly.

”No.”

”Oh~~”

”What are you looking at, get to work! Believe it or not, I’ll whip you!”

Dr. Yuu glared at him fiercely, understanding she was thoroughly under his thumb despite having a million questions about why Destructive Energy appeared in a mechanical-bodied girl, why energy from Nika cells resurged after tens of thousands of years, and more.

Yet she knew better: Work first, talk later.

”Everyone step back a little. When I left the association, I made some small modifications, but I’m not very proficient.”

”Got it!”

Like pulling a carrot, Xiao Yu yanked Gao Gong’s mechanical head from the tubes and ran off with it.

Dr. Yuu took a deep breath. It was a shame there wasn’t a biological detector here, otherwise it would have shown an acceleration in the biological energy in her body.

Countless transparent bubbles surfaced from her body, looking like blisters with odd tendrils, each in different forms—round, oval, caterpillar-like.

In the Cyber Test Field, anyone appearing normal somewhat wasn’t, particularly if they were top talents in the industry.

”It turned out to be like this!” Gao Gong murmured.

”Like what?” Xiao Yu curiously asked.

Dr. Yuu’s voice echoed.

”This planet is a cauldron teeming with cells.”

”Every body is a ’public enterprise’ of cooperative symbiosis among billions of cells.”

”Between host and cells is a nurturing relationship through metabolism.”

”Until this balance gets disrupted!”

Next moment, Dr. Yuu’s skin vanished, leaving only a crimson, skinned flesh.

Countless ’bubbles’ almost covered the entire experimental center.

Then, they crazily burrowed into the petri dishes.

The dish boiled like roiling water, surface bubbling furiously.

Paralleled by a frenetic rise in resolution, changing almost every ten seconds.

”Such beautiful bubbles!”

Xiao Yu foolishly gazed at the shimmering ’bubbles,’ wanting to touch them.

”Don’t touch,” Gao Gong said, ”these are someone else’s cells.”

”Merely cells magnified ten thousand times.”

Proving effective, the capitalistic methods led to a full resolution of the pupil’s nerve cells and collider’s metallic cells in under half an hour.

At some point, Dr. Yuu returned to her normal form, but her face was pale, looking ten years older, with pronounced wrinkles.

She gave Gao Gong a fierce glare.

”Can we talk now?”

”Of course.”

Simultaneously, under the artificial fresh air of the morning, Nightless City’s first high-explosive nuclear bomb descended upon the Sub-human Continent.
