Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 422: Chapter 170: The Plan Unfolds (Part 2)

In the previous life, the reason Gao Gong chose the Superbrain Civilization was precisely because of its ’supercomputing traits.’ When combined with Brain Power, it can temporarily transform any individual piece of equipment into collective equipment.

In other words, even an ordinary computer, when enhanced by Civilization Traits, will become a Large Data Processing Center.

Soon, these Neural Equipments, originally designed to create an ’Electronic Brain Backdoor,’ began to connect to the brainstem chips of tens of thousands of players, absorbing and converting their Sensory Data.

The more chaos the players caused, the more ’Black and White Data’ would be converted. Gao Gong was also a veteran in data theft.

Only big data can fight against big data.

The legend of a single person can only end in death.

But a miracle can be created by a group of Celestial Calamities joining forces.

...

The Peacekeepers of ordinary corporations are level 20, whereas those of the Illusionary Union are level 25. Their weapon systems are quite advanced, equipped with Energy Modules, boasting strong endurance, and integrated with Electronic Defense Walls, making them immune to hacks from ordinary hackers.

It takes three to four players to destroy just one; in a one-on-one situation, players are simply not opponents.

Therefore, very soon, five or six unfortunate small players were tied up and taken to the Illusionary Union’s experiment center.

”We will never surrender! No matter how you interrogate us, it won’t work!”

”Right, our real feeling is zero, torturing me is useless!”

”Unless you give Mechanic Tokens, give me a hundred thousand Mechanic Tokens, and I’ll tell you everything!”

”If not money, then Advanced Equipment would work too, and if worse comes to worst, give us Prosthetic Bodies.”

Unfortunately, for these Modified Humans, the high-ups at Illusionary Union had no patience at all, simply waved their hands, and had them pushed out.

Soon, five blood-stained ’Laughing Bat’ chips appeared in the meeting room.

Dr. Murray calmly picked up a chip and inserted it into a processor, causing a brain-flower-like neural projection to appear.

Very quickly, a large amount of chip parameters were deciphered.

”The lowest-grade universal chips on the market, lacking even the most basic protective power,” an expert said disdainfully, ”these kinds of black market chips are usually only used by the lowest-grade robots.”

”I don’t need you to boast about your technical skills,” a high-up said grimly, ”I just want to know why the Moral Chip is ineffective on the implanters of this type of chip.”

”If a low-grade chip can interfere with the effects of the Moral Chip, this would deal a fatal blow to our company’s global expansion. Do you know what the consequences are?!”

”Or do you want to personally experiment with the effects of this chip?”

The expert was immediately speechless, cold sweat dripping down.

”Let me explain,” Dr. Murray stood out and said, ”In fact, just these kinds of chips won’t pose much of a blow to our operations.”

”But we indeed overestimated the results of our human nature experiments. There indeed is a class of people who can surpass normal ethical human nature.”

”According to our investigation, this class of people is called players.”

”Players? An ancient term for gamers?”

”It seems there is such a saying.”

”Bionic Men? Mutants? Is it a test from a competing company?”

Dr. Murray cleared his throat and said, ”Everyone, since we’ve already figured out the principle, please rest assured, the protective patch for this class of people will soon be available on the chips. Our security department is also taking action and will naturally provide an account to everyone by then.”

”Then we are relieved.”

”There are no questions about Dr. Murray’s technical level, at Mother City standards.”

”As long as there’s no problem with the plan, I’ll arrange production immediately.”

Soon, the holographic projections of these shareholders went offline one after another, and after they were all offline, Dr. Murray’s tone made a 180-degree turn, speaking in a deep voice: ”This chip issue cannot be resolved by us, we must initiate the Human Completion Plan in advance.”

”No way at all?” Hugh Laurie frowned, ”In biology, neurology, pharmacology, as long as you need, I can get you experts of all kinds, regardless of cost on funding.”

”It’s all useless!” Dr. Murray interrupted decisively.

”Put simply, human nature is equivalent to the bottom logic of the human brain, and it is on the basis of this logic that we crafted the Moral Chip. But if these people’s bottom logic operates differently from ours, then nothing can be done!”

”The foundation of the Human Completion Plan is human nature based on ethics and morality! Species beyond human nature are beyond the scope of control.”

”So we can only complete the first part of the plan while there are not many of these people, and then proceed with species extermination.”

”As many as come, kill as many! Just like clearing out cockroaches!” the chief expert said coldly.

Just as the 4th Celestial Calamity stirred trouble, the player clearing plan also seems to be about to commence in advance.

Hugh Laurie took a deep look at his counterpart, slowly nodding his head.

...

Even Gao Gong, must respect the basic rules of the system, at least in the task release section, the difficulty is calculated by the system itself.

If a Hell-level Task is one that is virtually impossible to complete, then a Nightmare-level Task is one where you have a chance of completion by narrowly escaping death.

Apparently, the moment players entered the city, they immediately understood what the difficulty of a Nightmare-level Task meant.

Countless undefeatable Peacekeepers, various new weaponry, drones pursuing for 30 hours.

It was far more thrilling than gang warfare in alleyways.

Fortunately, players experienced with high-stakes maps like City of Crime are already familiar with such scenarios where missiles rain down from the sky, and large robots sweep entire areas in one go.

Dodging when needed, activating skills when necessary, and when desperate, throwing Advanced Equipment onto teammates, turning into a human bomb directly.

Gunfire and artillery shelling continued deep into the night.

Of the surviving players, not even half remained.

And they were scattered across different city districts.

In this game, being a player has a hidden perk, which is that as long as you put away your weapons and equipment, no one can tell whether you are a player or an NPC.

Soon, the players discovered something off about Nightless City.

First off, the previously omnipresent, swarming ’giant flies’ were nowhere to be seen.

Also, the street gangs previously ’Martial Virtue Overflowing’ had vanished.

Thirdly, the citizens in Nightless City had become abnormal.

The abnormality was that even when gunfire was raging on the nearby street, these citizens continued about their business—going to work, shopping—as if they were NPCs, just shy of pulling out a pack of Gwent Cards.

Strange! Terribly strange!!

Why aren’t the NPCs in this game intelligent anymore?

A big question mark formed in the minds of these players.

”Their condition seems off.”

At this moment, a player with reconnaissance skills shared the data they had obtained.

Intelligent Zombie State: A large amount of human brain computational power has been extracted by an unknown entity, and the implanted Moral Chip forces them to act according to ’correct’ behavioral patterns, the loss of biological nature has turned them into zombies in some capacity.

”What is this, brainwashing?”

”Acting according to certain behavior patterns?” a player mused, ”Isn’t this just like the games we normally play?”

Several players exchanged glances, and their black bars immediately filled up!

”Raid the weapon store!”

”Fools, who raids weapon stores these days! Rob a bank!!”

”Idiots, who’s the richest in Nightless City? Of course it’s the corporations, Prosthetic Bodies, weapons, blueprints, knowledge, they have it all!!”

At this moment, on a rooftop, watching the players starting to take action, Gao Gong muttered to himself.

”The NPCs should start moving too.”
