Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 48: Chapter 42: Biomimetic Origin

[Task completed, Experience +4500, Cable Tribe Favor +500]

[Brain-in-a-Vat Favor +400]

When Huang Yuanli, this little woman, fainted, substantive psychic waves suddenly emanated from the tentacles of the ’Brain-in-a-Vat’.

The blue radiance circled around, resembling the depths of the ocean.

Gao Gong squinted his eyes, his palm gently on the hilt, while the intense psychic waves made him feel the excitement simultaneously.

There are two types of Brain-in-a-Vat, one wild, one domesticated.

Wild ones are more ferocious, often developing a habit of eating human brains. They construct ethics by absorbing human emotions and memories, incredibly cunning, fitting the role of the antagonist behind the scenes.

On the contrary, artificially cultivated ones are relatively simple and harmless.

But no matter how you look at it, this thing is at least a level 30 boss, unbeatable in spiritual attacks, it’s okay to take advantage, but don’t really underestimate it.

In fact, when perception reached 21 points, he immediately sensed a dozen intangible tentacles slowly stroking him, especially near his head.

The other party didn’t agree to this transaction because of persuasion but accepted his arrangement only after confirming Gao Gong wasn’t lying.

In a sense, this guy is akin to half a prophet.

”Human, thank you, you are different from others.”

”Of course, I don’t do vivisection. I only love studying the peculiar preferences of different races... Ahem, what are you planning next?”

The Brain-in-a-Vat contentedly stretched its tentacles, draining the liquid in the nutrient trough rapidly.

”Researcher Han fed me many things I didn’t like, I intend to dispose of them, then—find a suitable body.”

”Researcher Han? Are you referring to Professor Han, don’t you hate him?”

”Forty years ago, with Researcher Han’s assistance, I gained my first life. Forty years later, also with his help, I awoke from chaos.”

”By your human principle of equivalence, all grievances between us are settled.”

”Yet someday, should my thought develop new ideas, or rather become more ’human’, I’ll return for reciprocal actions, oh, as you humans would say—revenge.”

Gao Gong shrugged, without objections.

”In the laboratory, Researcher Han hid some research materials from back then; these might be useful to you. I could feel some dangerous flames burning within you.”

”Apologies for using the word ’dangerous’, but in the human lexicon, I couldn’t find a more appropriate phrase.”

Carbon Stream+Mechanical Stream, say dangerous on this planet and it’s the same throughout the universe.

”So, goodbye, my human friend. I’ve found a very nice body. I hope we meet again, and by then, may you have achieved what you desire.”

The blue light grew brighter, and with a storm-like mental shock, the ’Brain-in-a-Vat’ vanished from the nutrient trough.

In another corner of the city, a high-risk area, in the Metal Zone.

In the center of this high-risk area lay scattered mechanical remains, and at the center stood the remains of a mechanical fortress-like giant, billowing green smoke.

And at ’its’ chest was a tank-sized cavity, where its radiation organ once resided.

A-Level Radiation Beast Leader, Mechanical Fortress.

In front of its lifeless eyes, a crimson flesh carpet was slowly retreating from what was once the lair of a mechanical bio-beast.

And the one who killed it, the ’Duke of Fission’, now had a blood-red mantle adorning his back.

Similarly, amidst the sky full of ’Red Lanterns’, clusters of nuclear energy illuminated within the lanterns.

One mountain cannot hold two tigers, unless one is male and the other female.

The Crimson Empress and the Duke of Fission seemed to have undergone some degree of ’fusion’.

Soon after, Scavenger City may see the rise of an S-level Beast King.

Or perhaps two Beast God Generals commanded by the Knight Order.

However, a small unexpected incident occurred.

Within the ’chest’ of the Mechanical Fortress, a pale blue octopus suddenly appeared, with countless neural lines piercing forth, injecting energy, illuminating the circuits of the various mechanical modules once more.

In the next moment, the eyeballs of the Mechanical Fortress slightly moved.

...

Gao Gong was unaware that he had, to some extent, altered the course of history. At this moment, in a pre-civilization era laboratory, he was flipping through the materials left by Professor Han.

”Biomimicry Principles and Experiments of Arthropods”

”Human Bionics and Amphibian Simulation”

”Is it possible for Ocean People to exist”

”Laboratory Log”

His heart stirred, and he opened the log.

3rd Xia Calendar, Year 231, June 4th

’According to the draw, my colleagues and I were sent to this Mesozoic site for ancient fossil cell sampling and restoration.’

’I thought this was a complete academic waste. The concept of gigantic bio-fusion soldiers had long been dismissed, merging dinosaur cells with bio-fusion technology to create ’humanoid battleships’? Whose idiotic idea was this?’

’When will those fools at the Empire’s Research Department stop having such wild fantasies?’

June 5th

’Digging rocks, dig your mother.’

June 6th

’Digging rocks, dig your mother.’

June 7th

’Digging rocks, continue to dig your mother.’

June 8th

’God, deep mountains and wilderness, not a single girl, next holiday, I must download hundreds of gigs of welfare photos, or life would be unbearable.’

The subsequent nearly two months involved the excavation of ancient fossils, interspersed with colorful language from a certain researcher.

This young researcher surnamed Han, named Han Yuan, had many selfies in the notes from various angles, including some without clothes.

Confirmed, this flamboyant young man was Professor Han.

One wonders what harsh change turned the cheeky youth from the diary into the current reclusive old curmudgeon.

July 15th

’Today, a group of university students majoring in ancient biology visited the site, heh, the girls are really beautiful.’

July 16th

’Today’s drones captured figures on the mountain; could they be wild men? I bet 500 Mechanical Coins that it’s a female.’

July 17th

’Caught them red-handed, though perhaps ’caught red-handed’ isn’t the right term, but it’s ridiculous. This is the 26th century; even extraterrestrial colonies have been established, yet there are still fans of ancient weapons playing cosplay in the wilderness. Can’t they just use VR to simulate the environment from home—by the way, how do they handle bathroom business out there?’

July 19th

’Busted! It’s all too absurd to use the term ”caught red-handed”. We’re in the 26th century, extraterrestrial colonies are established, how can there still be fans of ancient weapons playing cosplay in the wilderness, haven’t they heard of VR environments—how do these people even handle basic needs out there?’

July 20th

’What the hell, we found something huge, is this thing alive? Can ancient biological cells really integrate with reproduction technology? If this turns out true, my thesis has a bright future, I could ride towards the peak of life.’

July 22nd

’Unbelievable, it turns out that the upper echelons had already contacted alien civilizations, this so-called human application technology is just a cover, it’s clearly bionic technology!’

’On this planet, our country already possesses the most advanced prosthetic technology and bio-fusion technology.’

’With current biotechnology, trying to merge super ancient biological cells into bio-fusion technology is simply too far-fetched, with at least seven or eight key problems yet to be solved.’

October 21st

The body was completely different, much more authentic compared to that virtual body. The seams of machinery and flesh braided seamlessly, it was a perfect fusion. Once I return, I must record this.

Third Xia Calendar, Year 234, February 4th

Did two years somehow pass just like that?

”It’s unbelievable that the higher-ups had contact with alien civilizations long ago. What was supposedly about human application technology was just a front; it was clearly Bionic Technology!”

’On this planet, our nation already possesses the most powerful prosthetic technology and bio-fusion technology.’

’The ”AI Life Act” and the ”Human Bionics Act” have passed, granting our planet’s species the right to choose freely.’

Though this freedom was given to us by the aliens.

May 9th

The core of Bionic Technology is brain science!

Gao Gong flipped to the last page and raised an eyebrow, that’s it?
