One-Eyed Monster

Igor and Kadi were not merely sitting ducks during this process. Although they both took a hit to the stomach, it was only because they were initially caught off guard by the light attack.

Once they calmed down, they engaged in coded communication. Even in such dire circumstances, they were still able to find opportunities to tap out their coded language.

Kadi suggested a blind attack at the time, as he wasn’t skilled in defense and believed the best defense was a good offense.

However, this proposal was rejected by Igor, who felt that a blind attack would waste unnecessary Spirit Power and also give the enemy a better understanding of their attack methods.

Igor opted for a conservative approach, telling Kadi that this would wear down the enemy’s patience.

Kadi had always trusted Igor, so he didn’t object and proceeded to fully defend according to Igor’s instructions.

Patrick the Housekeeper was unaware of this little interlude. Had he known, he would have been utterly astonished.

However, the things that would astonish Patrick had only just begun.

He saw the two young men close their eyes tightly, rapidly moving their bodies, their weapons directly attacking his direction.

Whoosh—Clang—

A sound of impact pierced the sky, forcing Patrick back several steps. He never expected these two young men to be able to launch an attack on him so quickly. How did they manage to identify his position? Patrick was still very puzzled about this.

Igor and Kadi did not stop attacking due to Patrick’s hesitation. They continued to wield their Meteor Sword and Butterfly Blades, launching a full-scale attack on this Kangen family grand housekeeper.

Once again, the blades and Sword Qi attacked Patrick, forcing the Kangen family grand housekeeper to wield his White Robe to ward them off. This wizard robe was his weapon, with all his Wizard’s power infused into it, enabling it to serve as a shield when defending and a weapon when attacking.

Clang, clang, clang—No one could have imagined that a wizard robe clashing with swords could produce such a sound, as if metal was violently colliding!

The gatekeeping Gray Robes witnessed a heart-stopping battle. Patrick, the Housekeeper, was just a step away from reaching Saint Robe level, a top expert within the wizard squad. Yet, this expert found himself evenly matched against these two young men.

Dazzling light continuously emitted from Patrick’s body. This was his ultimate move, meant to suppress his opponents. However, the dazzling light’s effect was now diminishing, leaving many family members blinded, while these two young men seemed to have adapted to the strong light, their movements showing no distortion and each attack aiming directly at Patrick himself…

If these young Gray Robes weren’t using Spirit Power to protect their eyes, they probably couldn’t even witness this scene, given that Patrick’s light attack was area-wide.

Igor and Kadi could move so freely because Igor had discovered the breakthrough point.

Since the enemy used an obstruction spell to affect their vision, then discard vision to fight.

Fight like bats do.

Igor found a rhythm; his Spirit Sensing Ability no longer relied on his eyes. Smell, sound, rhythm—all these helped him sense the opponent’s position. With their defense shields covering their whole bodies, they could attack the target with impunity, and so they did.

Patrick was now somewhat awkward. He originally thought he could crush them, that the interference of strong light combined with his attack would cause the two young men a lot of trouble. Yet, he never anticipated he would be the one struggling to cope.

Wizards aren’t skilled in close combat, yet the current scenario forced him into close-quarters battle because the two young men pressed him too hard.

The attacks of blades and swords were relentless, leaving him no opportunity to unleash his spellcraft.

This utterly deprived him of the chance to utilize his strengths.

And his family members, the gatekeeping young Gray Robes, none of them were able to provide help… He understood—it wasn’t that these young people didn’t want to help; they simply couldn’t get close. Not to mention, the strong light alone required them to spend time dealing with it.

Why is there such a disparity among young people? Igor and Kadi’s performance deeply astonished Patrick, causing him to marvel involuntarily.

Igor and Kadi were growing more and more vigorous in their battle, gradually gaining the upper hand. In close combat with a wizard, they would certainly hold the advantage. For a wizard to withstand a couple of blows would already be a miracle. They didn’t know Patrick, nor did they understand wizards, but they did understand that to defeat someone, you must keep attacking.

In this aspect, Kadi was the most persistent. Unlike Igor, he wasn’t hesitant or burdened by overthinking strategy during combat, fearing the opponent might have reserves. Kadi was straightforward, opening with a full-blown attack, paying no mind to whether the opponent had backup plans.

This was why Patrick kept retreating.

Kadi’s frenzied assaults weren’t easy to defend against.

Could it be that today will be my unlucky day, that this position as a housekeeper will be my last, that I will become the shortest-lived housekeeper in the history of the Kangen family?

The disadvantage was becoming increasingly apparent, prompting Patrick to entertain all sorts of worst-case scenarios, as he had never faced such a predicament as a Kangen family expert.

Today’s scenario indeed drove him into a corner.

His Flame Type spellcraft was temporarily suppressed, that madman’s attacks were too swift, and the Blue Flame on his body seemed to perpetually weigh him down, making him feel as though he couldn’t exert his strength.

This feeling was terrible because if the Flame Type elements were completely suppressed, his light attacks would also be greatly reduced.

It was known that his ability to wield the strong light was because he could control these Flame Type elements.

The Blue Flame on Kadi’s body seemed to possess immense power, showing a dominant flair either against Spirit Power or fire, a flair that sought to devour everything around it.

Whether flame or Spirit Power, it aimed to devour them all!

Neither Kadi nor Igor could sense that an external force was aiding them. This Blue Flame was currently expanding its power, seeking to devour!

Yet, this power affected Patrick. He could clearly feel his power being gradually eroded…

This was an extremely bad feeling; he had to use his strength to restrain this Devouring Power.

Patrick constantly increased his power, for now, he wasn’t just contending with these two young warriors’ Physical Technique Attacks, but also an inexplicable Devouring Power.

He could use his wizard robe infused with spellcraft to fend off Physical Technique Attacks, but he had to rely on his own Spirit Power to resist this Devouring Power.

If he managed to resist it, then he could say he narrowly escaped disaster. But if he couldn’t, it would mean his skills would be completely drained here…
