One-Eyed Monster

Coban Kangen was lost in a sea of memories. Although his recollection was not very clear, he was still certain he had heard of this organization before.

Back then, he was in the family school engrossed in spiritual enlightenment, hoping that one day he could open his mind to become an extraordinary Wizard.

Coban Kangen was a diligent person, and aware that he wasn’t naturally gifted, he chose to practice extra hours every day.

And all his extra practice sessions were done alone, without anyone supervising him.

He faintly remembered hearing the term Death God unintentionally, as he was practicing meditation at the time, sitting motionless on the school cushion like a wax statue.

He was still young back then and didn’t understand the meaning of what the adults were discussing. He only heard the name Death God and it seemed that the family’s elders were worried about the rise of this organization.

The conversations of adults inherently carried a secretive tone, and the inclusion of a special term like Death God greatly frightened the young Coban.

To this day, many of Coban’s friends and family believe that the scare back then dispersed his Spirit Power.

In fact, Coban himself knew that it wasn’t the case because after he switched to becoming a Fighter, he clearly felt his Spirit Sensing improving.

Sometimes finding what suits oneself is the right path, while the pursuit of ancient familial traditions only leads to disappointment.

Coban understood this principle, and he no longer sought whether he could inherit the ancient traditions of the Kangen Family, devoting himself wholeheartedly to the study of the Fighter, and instead found success via an alternative path.

Even now, Coban remains someone the family speaks of with great interest.

However, these matters are not much related to the present; these memories merely transported Coban back to that time, making him feel very nostalgic. How to put it? So much time has passed, and the Kangen Family has also undergone many changes, yet he still misses that ancient family,

hoping that one day he could return to take a look.

”I remember, I was just a little when I first heard the name of that organization.”

”If I remember correctly, the Death God is an organization assembled by people from our Kangen Family. Of course, that person is a traitor to our family and has already been exiled!”

”It seems there is a bit of a connection between Death God and our family!”

Coban Kangen slowly narrated as he collected his thoughts. Despite using words like vaguely or it seems that made his narration somewhat ambiguous, he nonetheless provided some information for everyone.

Lord Popovich took Coban’s information seriously because behind every ancient family there are many secrets, and traitors of such families are always able to stir up significant turmoil in the world. Therefore, regardless of how vague Coban’s memories were, they required attention.

Igor’s brows furrowed tightly at this moment, nearly twisting into knots.

Kadi, observing Igor’s expression, was puzzled: ”What’s the matter with you? Have you thought of something?”

”Speaking of, doesn’t the name Kangen Family sound a bit familiar to you too?” Igor tentatively asked Kadi.

”Kangen Family, hmm, a bit. It seems like that woman walking with Xiso is from the Kangen, right?” Kadi’s memory seemed much better than Igor’s.

Xiso, a woman, Kadi’s casual remark reminded Igor!

Finally understanding after all this time, wasn’t the Kangen Family the place where Xiso-senpai and Witch Bigas went to!

He had nearly forgotten about this pair after being apart for so long!

And who knows what result they met with; had their visit to the Kangen Family caused a stir?

These past two years, he and Kadi had been focusing on improving themselves, not remembering to inquire about Xiso-senpai’s situation.

”By the way, are you familiar with Xiso-senpai?” Igor suddenly leaned close to Coban and asked.

This question dumbfounded Coban. This wasn’t right; hadn’t they been discussing the Death God just now? Why was Xiso suddenly brought up?

The people of the Kangen Family naturally knew Xiso; there was no one who didn’t recognize Xiso.

The story of Xiso and Bigas was considered a beautiful tale throughout the Empire.

Of course, it was also considered a blemish for the Kangen Family.

Every person in the Kangen Family had a deep impression of Xiso, and many of them thought Xiso was remarkable. But they couldn’t understand why Xiso had left without a word back then.

However, Xiso and Bigas’s reappearance cleared up their doubts, as now everyone knew Xiso had transformed into the appearance of a monster.

Miss Bigas’s feelings for Xiso made them believe the two of them were truly in love.

So, regardless of how much the family elders opposed, all the younger ones chose to remain silent.

No matter what form Xiso took, he remained the same Xiso, the Empire’s excellent Scholar. The young generation of the Kangen remained silent.

The elders eventually had no words for the young ones, and Xiso’s reappearance once again added a deep blot on the Kangen Family’s blemish.

Therefore, regarding Xiso and Bigas, most people of the Kangen Family didn’t mention them.

Thus, Igor’s current question was quite abrupt.

This left Coban Kangen a bit at a loss.

Whether he answered or not, neither seemed quite appropriate...

After all, they were from the Kangen Family, and regarding the issue of Xiso, they had already chosen silence, so they had to maintain silence in front of everyone.

However, facing Igor and the others, responding seemed impolite.

This made Coban feel stuck between a rock and a hard place; the previously eloquent him suddenly became mute, unable to utter a word.

Igor was also puzzled; why did Coban Kangen go silent after just one question, making the atmosphere awkward?

Being a senior, Lord Popovich noticed Coban’s difficulty and helped him out: ”Everyone in the Kangen Family recognizes Xiso; now not just the Kangen Family, but the whole world might know the story of Xiso and Lady Xiso.”

”Ah? So does Lord Popovich know where Xiso-senpai is now? I suddenly have many questions I want to ask this senior.”

”Oh?” Lord Popovich was intrigued by what Igor said. He was curious about what questions this youth needed to ask Xiso.

”I also want to see Xiso,” Kadi mused, resting his chin on his hand, clearly reminiscing about the times spent with Xiso on Guru Mountain.

”Xiso-senpai previously discussed the Soul Guardian with us on Guru Mountain, and now it seems this Death God might be related to the Soul Guardian,” Igor mentioned as he noticed Lord Popovich’s confusion and directly shared his thoughts.

Lord Popovich was taken aback; this young man named Igor had an exceptional ability to capture details; they hadn’t yet realized the connection between the Soul Guardian and the Death God organization, yet this young man had already perceived it…

Lord Popovich suddenly viewed Igor in a new light…

Truly commendable for their youth!
