One-Eyed Monster

The entire betrayal incident of Willem within the Kangen Family was disclosed as much as possible, and the severity was reduced from Thunder Level to Wind Level due to the previous downfall of Black Crow.

If the level of this matter hadn’t been lowered, Coban Kangen wouldn’t dare to explain it so thoroughly to Igor and the others.

After all, it’s a disgrace to the Kangen Family, and the reason they’re exposing this disgrace now is because they truly regard Willem as significant.

The Kangen Family believes that their current power might be insufficient to deal with Willem.

Especially after the secret of Guru Mountain was revealed, they became even more vigilant of Willem.

The power that transcends life and death, along with Willem’s rebirth, must have some connection.

This is a speculation they all share.

Moreover, Willem has once again become elusive, highlighting the mystery surrounding him. Unfortunately, Estev can no longer seek Willem’s whereabouts this time.

The identity of the entire squad has been exposed, and they can no longer perform their previous roles.

Coban Kangen greatly admires Estev, although Estev is not part of the Kangen clan, he invested more effort in the Willem matter than the Kangen Family members, relying on his personal strength to discover Willem’s whereabouts. But when he sought help from the Kangen Family, they hesitated, so Estev had to return alone to guard the secret they once protected in the Guru Mountain area.

Due to the downgrading of the secret’s level, Estev was informed of the specific location, leading to the story of guarding together with Master Guzan and others on Guru Mountain...

No matter what, Coban Kangen holds deep admiration for Estev; he even thinks that he must visit him if given the chance.

The steam railway clattered towards Xinbal, time passed unconsciously, and during this narrative process, no one realized how quickly time had slipped by.

Igor rested his chin, lost in thoughts, while Coban Kangen stared blankly, evidently in deep contemplation, only Kadi had already closed his eyes and was sound asleep.

Unknowingly, it was already evening, and the quiet night descended without a single sign.

Igor had many thoughts now; he had made numerous deductions from Coban’s account, particularly his own experiences, which provided him a lot of insight.

Whether it was the previous Wizard Reed on Guru Mountain, or the Soul Devourer Master on the Border Realm later, both more or less mentioned the concept of rebirth, not to mention the circus he dealt with recently, Clown Quinn who claimed to be reborn...

Igor gradually realized that these enemies he encountered shared a common trait: no matter what, they all yearned for new life, as if these people were extremely dissatisfied with their current selves, always attempting to change their looks; Wizard Reed is the beginning, Soul Devourer Master is the process, and the circus seems to be the result...

Thinking about it, it indeed seems true. Clown Quinn never wanted to revert to his original form, seemingly having deep aversion to his previous self.

Some thoughts you don’t feel the need to think about, but once you do, they keep flowing!

Could that power that transcends life and death be similar to the Soul Devourer’s force?

Or is it because the power from Guru Mountain was unleashed, leading to abnormal excitement in the Border Realm?

Igor suddenly realized many things are connecting rapidly now.

It seems everything is related to that mysterious power.

Ultimately, all these people are pursuing a rebirth, which is the power that transcends life and death...

”What are you thinking about?” Coban Kangen suddenly snapped back to reality, noticing Igor’s furrowed brow, enough to hold several birds.

”Uh, I’m thinking about the connections between these things,” Igor said.

”Connections?” Coban Kangen naturally didn’t know what Igor had experienced, so he wasn’t aware of Igor’s dilemma.

”These matters are hard to explain in one sentence; I seem to have found their commonality.”

”Tell me, perhaps I can give you some advice too.” Coban Kangen became interested, as they quickly invested curiosity into unknown matters.

”Previously, when you mentioned Willem’s betrayal, you talked about rebirth.”

”Yes, Willem was killed once by our family’s aces.” Coban Kangen nodded, rebirth was indeed a rare occurrence.

”I feel Willem is already dead!”

”Hmm?” Coban Kangen found it inconceivable, after all, Willem is still there, an undeniable fact.

”You encountered Soul Devourer for the first time in Bistal, and Soul Devourer, how to say, I think it’s an energy consciousness capable of occupying someone’s body.” Igor began explaining to Coban Kangen; this is a complex process, but Igor had ample patience at this moment.

”You mean Willem’s corpse was occupied by a Soul Devourer?” Coban Kangen showed good comprehension, quickly deducing Igor’s intended message.

”That’s right, I mean Willem is dead, and now it’s someone else living in Willem’s body.”

”No, Willem is alive and challenged our family!” Coban Kangen was still skeptical.

”After a Soul Devourer occupies a body, its consciousness automatically gains the host’s memories, they call this process Devouring; only by devouring another’s consciousness can they occupy that person’s body completely.”

Coban Kangen contemplated thoughtfully.

”But not all Soul Devourers can devour another’s consciousness, meaning not everyone is a weak lamb, waiting to be devoured.” Igor continued.

”You mean people can resist the Devouring?” Coban Kangen wasn’t quite assured of this notion.

”Yes, resistance is possible, for example, Kruz kept resisting, never allowing himself to be devoured by that Soul Devourer!”

”This truly is a peculiar matter...” Having his first encounter with Soul Devourer, Coban Kangen was naturally amazed.

”So, I believe Willem must have been devoured, as your family experts could easily kill him the first time, but the second time, Willem seemed entirely different...”

”Your analysis makes sense...”

”Yes, I also think Willem encountered Soul Devourers once, initially just encountering them, later transforming into a Soul Devourer...”

”What do you mean?”

”Remember, you mentioned your family’s Spellcraft seal!”

”Of course, this seal craft failed only on Willem, the sole failure case!”

”I believe when Willem resisted, he already died.”
