Not Being a Trainer This Time

”Later, the chief invited me to join the Paldea League, and then I was assigned to work at the Levincia Gym! Hehe, actually, I quite like this job!”

”Oh, I see!” Naoki nodded, ”I thought you inherited your family’s gym!”

Talking about this matter, Lono couldn’t help but complain, ”My parents just can’t sit still. Every year they go traveling, saying the world is so big, they have so many places they haven’t seen yet, often leaving me alone in Levincia City.”

Naoki envisioned the scene in his mind and couldn’t help but laugh, no wonder they could raise such a quirky daughter like Lono, those parents must be interesting.

”What about Naoki?” Lono suddenly asked, ”I heard from the chief before that Naoki only moved to the Paldea Region in the last few years, right? Where did you live before?”

”Me?” Naoki was slightly taken aback, then replied, ”I used to live with my parents in the Hoenn Region, but after they passed away due to illness, I left there and traveled around the world.”

”It wasn’t until three years ago that I returned to the Paldea Region to inherit the ranch left by my grandfather.”

Before, their relationship wasn’t that close, and Lono hadn’t heard Naoki mention his parents. Now hearing him say that, Lono couldn’t help but feel a little heartache.

”Everything will get better,” she comforted.

”Yeah!” Naoki nodded gently, ”But I’ve gotten used to it. Now with Koraidon and the others with me, and you, I feel pretty happy.”

He wasn’t lying to Lono.

Because before he crossed over to this world, his parents also passed away early.

But he was strong-hearted, didn’t commit suicide, and later, although he became a corporate drone, Naoki always maintained an optimistic attitude towards life.

After all, he still had Pokemon to accompany him, and the Pokemon games and anime series.

Hearing Naoki’s words, Lono nodded repeatedly, ”Mm, I will always be by your side too!”

Naoki’s heart softened, then he nodded lightly, ”Mm, I’ll remember that.”

Then, the two of them started talking about other things, chatting until the midnight bell tolled.

Hearing that sound, Naoki knew it was now the year 201 in the League calendar.

It was too late, and everything returned to silence in the night.

Lono, on the other side of the screen, yawned sleepily.

Naoki glanced at the Pokemon beside him who had already fallen into dreamland, and said to Lono:

”If you’re tired, go sleep!”

Lono also realized it was too late, she responded softly, ”Mm, got it! Goodnight~”

”Goodnight.”

The call ended, Naoki turned off the TV, and started carrying the sleeping Pokemon back to their little nests one by one.

For larger Pokemon like Dragonite, Naoki couldn’t carry them, so he asked Calyrex to move them with Psychic powers.

During this, Koraidon was startled awake by Calyrex’s Psychic powers, it opened its eyes wide, looking around in a daze, finally looking at Naoki:

”Ah, gah, sss?”

”Time to go back to sleep.” Naoki patted its head.

Koraidon yawned, then obediently followed Naoki back to the room.

Naoki went to the bathroom to wash up. When he came out, he found that Koraidon was still not asleep.

Naoki sat on the bed, patted its head, his thoughts shifted slightly, then he asked aloud:

”Koraidon, what do you think of Lono? Would it be okay for her to join the ranch and live with us?”

”Ah, gah, sss!” Hearing this, Koraidon was instantly wide awake, it excitedly nodded its big head.

”Hmm?” Naoki was very surprised, ”You like Lono a lot?”

”Ah, gah, sss!” Koraidon looked very happy.

”Is that so?” Naoki smiled slightly, ”Then it’s settled!”

”Ah, gah, sss~”

”Alright, sleep now!” Naoki rubbed Koraidon’s head, then lay down on the bed.

He took a deep breath, looking up at the ceiling longingly.

Perhaps... maybe he could really have a complete family of his own in this world.

Running the ranch together with Lono, taking care of the Pokemon on the ranch.

Maybe they would have a child, just like all the children in this world, starting their journey as a Trainer at the age of ten.

Just like Mr. Elif next door at the Elif Cherry Garden, running a cherry garden with his wife and children, living a simple and happy life.

Naoki closed his eyes and soon fell into a deep sleep.

He had a dream, dreaming of a wedding with Lono, Geeta acting as their officiant, and Koraidon and Cyclizar playing the role of flower children.

Winter passed, spring came, snow melted, and everything started to revive.

After the New Year ended, the Heroic Expedition Team resumed their journey.

But to Naoki’s surprise, Zapdos temporarily left the team.

According to Zapdos, it had some things to do and would come back once they were done.

Naoki was puzzled, he asked Zapdos what it was, but Zapdos secretively told neither Mew nor Teddiursa, saying it was going to give them a surprise.

Before leaving, Naoki gave Zapdos a Rotom Phone to keep in touch with Mew and Teddiursa.

Zapdos thanked him, then flapped its wings and flew away.

While Mew and Teddiursa watched its departing figure, they also embarked on their journey.

This year, they planned to travel to a place called the Sinnoh Region.
