Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 133: Chapter 118: The Radiance of Heroes (Part 2)

”How many First Grade Martial Artists are there among them?” the middle-aged instructor asked.

”More than two hundred, not quite three hundred!”

The King Seat Challenge has only one hundred seats, but the number of competitors reaches as many as 1,542 people, among whom only those two hundred-odd new Martial Artists truly qualify to compete for a seat. The rest, who are at the Ninth Rank of Body Cultivation, are really just making up the numbers, merely being bystanders.

Many people are clearly aware of this, yet they hold the naive hope of muddling through the chaos.

”The show is starting!”

Among the crowd, Zhang Yu’s gaze lingered on Lin Feng.

Compared to the audience, as a veteran, he understands the King Seat Challenge better.

The King Seat Challenge allows the use of weapons, with no rules and no restrictions.

Furthermore, with numerous Therapists and many powerful instructors watching, there’s no need to worry about students getting injured or dying, making this King Seat Challenge infinitely close to actual combat.

Because there are no limitations on power or numbers, whichever team has more members naturally holds an advantage. No matter how strong an individual’s skills are, if they fight alone without team support, they might be the first to be eliminated.

This is also one of the reasons why Ye Ming, Deng Chen, and others have paid a price these days, desperately forming alliances.

Many new students know they have no hope and are just playing the role of thugs.

Some new students may feel it’s unfair, but in the world of martial artists, there’s no such thing as fairness.

Talent!

Family!

Resources!

Which of these is fair?

If you enter the Otherworld, where there are no laws or rules binding you, who would talk fairness with you?

Who would engage in a fair one-on-one fight with you?

Survival of the fittest, might makes right; this is the law of the jungle in the Otherworld.

The King Seat Challenge is really just a vivid lesson for the newcomers.

”Brother Feng, what should we do?”

Among the crowd, Dong Yunan asked quietly while being guarded by Lin Feng and the other two.

The rules of the King Seat Challenge were well-known to the new students early on, so in the past few days, those who felt they had the strength to earn a seat and some resource backing have all started forming alliances and teams.

These teams consist of at least five members, with many having more than ten people. Ye Ming and others even have thirty or forty members. Aside from some lone wolves, their four-person squad is considered small compared to other small groups.

As a Therapist, Dong Yunan had originally not planned to participate in the King Seat Challenge, since her combat power was not even as good as Lin Xiaofei’s. But Lin Feng and Yun Kai intended to forcibly secure a seat for her.

The rewards for the King Seat Challenge are secondary; Lin Feng doesn’t care about a few million at this point, but certain privileges are extremely important for their squad.

”Don’t worry, let’s wait and see!”

Lin Feng said calmly, but he was also observing the surroundings.

Though he hasn’t performed a Demon Spirit Refinement, relying on his battle experience, he fears no one in single combat. However, no matter how strong an individual’s prowess is, facing a team, especially one made up almost entirely of Demon Spirit Masters, the outcome is predictable.

Perhaps due to lack of battle experience or a hint of mercy, none of the new students dared to make the first move. Each hastily-formed small team watched excitedly yet uneasily.

But as a barrier appeared around the Martial Arts Arena, accompanied by growls and shouts, a burst of colorful Spiritual Power exploded, and the battle erupted instantly.

The diameter of the barrier was a substantial four or five hundred meters, but it kept shrinking towards the center of the Martial Arts Arena.

The new students frantically surged towards the central area, as appearing outside the barrier meant elimination.

”Damn it, you dared hit me?”

”Kid, if you’ve got the guts, don’t run!”

”Come chase me, you idiot.”

Angry curses echoed continuously from the Martial Arts Arena.

Although some new students had already broken through to the Body Cultivation Realm and become First Grade Martial Artists, they still hadn’t cultivated Martial Skills. At the beginning, the fighting style was almost savage, with fists hitting flesh, blades drawing blood, competing in speed and power.

Of course, as Demon Spirit Masters, demon spirits were naturally the most important means of attack. Many people let out beast-like roars; their bodies transformed, with demon possession showcasing their innate skills.

Lin Feng and the other three didn’t join the fight immediately but instead ran towards the center of the Martial Arts Arena.

”Fall back quickly!”

At this moment, he pulled back Dong Yunan, retreating quickly, and saw a wedge-shaped formation quickly being formed by seven small groups ten meters ahead. At the forefront stood a girl in a long white dress.

”The girl from the party!”

Lin Feng instantly recognized the girl; she was the one who performed the Water Control Technique on stage at the freshmen’s party.

The girl raised her hands, a faint blue light gathering at her palms.

”Rainfall!”

A cerulean waterfall descended from the sky, with surging streams sweeping towards over a hundred students not far away. Some students rapidly dodged, but some unfortunate ones got hit.

Simultaneously, behind the girl, a boy with silver-white scales covering his left cheek let out a roar, arcs of lightning flashed across his body, and bolts of purple-red electricity shot out fiercely. The fierce currents darted instantly, electrifying the already turbulent waters. The engulfed students twitched all over, letting out painful cries, as they were washed out of the barrier by the torrent.

This sudden waterfall broke the deadlock and caused a certain amount of chaos, with muffled sounds frequently echoing. Quite a few people fell to the ground, bruised and swollen, yet one person turned a blind eye, charging straight into the water and disappeared without a trace.

”It’s Bai Ji!”

Someone recognized the figure; it was indeed the genius young man, the Poison Beast Master Bai Ji, from the West River Bai Family!

”Retreat quickly!”

Those who saw the scene quickly withdrew. If today’s new students had varying opinions on who was the strongest, Bai Ji was undoubtedly the one most feared and dreaded.

”Hiss....”

At this moment, the turbulent waterfall seemed to boil, with tiny bubbles forming and bursting. Numerous pitch-black, fly-like bugs emerged, shooting forth through the water. These insects followed the water stream and burrowed into the gory wounds of the injured new students, creating a chilling scene.

The speed of these bizarre insects in flight was very slow, with hardly any offensive capability, yet using the water current’s cover and aid, at least a dozen new students got hit and quickly fell, their bodies convulsing on the ground, tearing at their skin.

”Truly a monster, utterly disgusting!”

Many shivered at the sight and avoided the waterfall while quickly invoking demon possession, flapping their wings to fly into the air. Yet before they could regain composure, a shower of fist-sized stones rained down from above, leaving another dozen figures on the ground.

In less than ten minutes, the chaotic battle had already reduced the number of participants by nearly a third.

Various strange abilities, rare talents, and even bloodline talents all bloomed together!

In this moment, the stars shone bright!
