Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 130: Chapter 116: The Throne Challenge Begins

Two days later, early morning.

For Red Cloud University, this day is a special one.

And for the people of Guanglin, this day is a rare weekend; after the hard work on weekdays, they can finally have a good rest and sleep in.

But as soon as the skies brightened, many people threw off their blankets to the sound of alarm clocks, quickly washed up, and left their homes with their families. They couldn’t even spare time for breakfast and quickly appeared at the entrance of Red Cloud University, clustering up in groups as they walked in the same direction.

”The annual throne challenge is about to start, and I’ve been looking forward to it for a month!”

”Last year, Zhang Xuanfei of the Black Wings was quite impressive, but unfortunately didn’t make it to the First Throne and was only ranked third. I wonder if there will be such talents this year?”

”How could there not be? I’ve heard that the quality of this year’s new students is much higher than previous years. Setting Lin Feng aside, I think that half-beastman Yun Kai is much stronger than last year’s Zhang Xuanfei. I’m here to see him today.”

Amidst the colorful sea of people, a group of middle-aged men and women, clearly office workers, discussed as they walked.

The throne challenge at Red Cloud is not only an event for Red Cloud University but also a celebration for the people of Guanglin.

On this day, the closed Red Cloud University will open, allowing everyone free entry to watch the throne challenge match.

”Why do I feel like there are more people at this year’s throne challenge? Is it just my imagination?”

A sophomore wearing a white T-shirt, flip-flops, carrying a giant sword, and eating a big meat bun looked at the crowded flow of people with a hint of doubt in his eyes.

Though he knows the annual new student throne challenge is popular, not only within the school but also outside, with many interested, even broadcast live on television, the popularity over the years didn’t seem as high as this, right?

It feels like it’s already comparable to the national college Glory Battle?

Even regular matches don’t usually have such a high turnout!

”It’s not an illusion; at least a third, maybe even half more people. I think they’re all here to see Lin Feng and Yun Kai!” a male student explained.

In fact, it’s not hard to guess why people are so curious and enthusiastic.

Red Cloud University is one of the nation’s three Heroic Academies. Although its fame and history are far less than the Great Wall and Demon Star, it has its foundation and uniqueness since it became one of the three Heroic Academies. As a semi-military college, children of military and political families or those intending to develop towards military politics choose Red Cloud.

Because of this, geniuses at Red Cloud University are many, and prodigies are not uncommon.

And the new students’ throne challenge is the stage where prodigies showcase themselves for the first time.

Though many of this year’s new students just became adults and some haven’t yet become Martial Artists, you can still see their potential and future development trend.

Today, the large turnout is indeed largely due to Lin Feng and Yun Kai; compared to others, their fame is indeed immense.

Not only at Red Cloud, even nationwide, they are renowned!

Especially at the welcome party two days ago, Yun Kai’s demon transformation resembling the Golden War God’s appearance was filmed and posted online, inciting enthusiastic discussions among Guanglin’s people.

Although Yun Kai was born in Jiang City, it doesn’t stop Guanglin people from loving him, with many netizens even calling him the ”Glory Son of Guanglin”!

Many people want to come and see Yun Kai in person!

For most people, seeing the Earth Chart’s 97th ranked Golden Lion King, such an advanced demon spirit, is something they may never experience in their lifetime.

As for ancestral demonization, currently, there are only three people nationwide.

One is a child only three years old, a girl, who just learned to walk; another is a middle-aged uncle over thirty who has long missed his awakening opportunity, with his life force overdraft, nearing the end of his life. The only one with such a demon fiend appearance who is still visible to the world is Yun Kai.

Of course, Yun Kai’s rare talent is indeed eye-catching, but he may not necessarily be the main character of this throne challenge.

”Brother Feng, so many people!”

Gao Hai looked at the surroundings of the martial arts arena, the tiered seats already covered by a sea of old students and spectators, with at least over 100,000 people watching this event, that attention and the buzzing discussions made his heartbeat quicken.

Even though he knows today is the stage for prodigies, and it has nothing to do with him.

”Yes, quite a lot of people.” Lin Feng nodded in agreement.

In his view, this new students’ throne challenge has a bit of the shock of Awakening Day.

Not only are there lots of people, but Lin Feng also noticed the presence of many journalists and photographers, and on the high platform in the distance, many teachers and college leaders dressed in Martial Artist’s uniforms and military attire were also getting into position.

”It’s 8:50, just ten more minutes until it starts.”

Yang Fan glanced around, his expression also very excited.

He, like Gao Hai, has strength that ranks at the bottom among the new students. Although it has nothing to do with him either, today is undoubtedly the day Lin Feng and Yun Kai make a name for themselves, a day in the limelight, and also the best opportunity for the Jianghu Martial Arts Club to gain fame.

If the Jianghu Martial Arts Club grows and thrives, then as a founding member of the Martial Arts Club, his chance to fulfill his personal aspirations is here!

Compared to Yang Fan and the others, Lin Feng and Yun Kai appeared very calm.

”I want to see what qualifies you to act so arrogantly in front of me!”

Five hundred meters away from Lin Feng and the others, Chen Nan looked calm, but his whole body emitted a gloomy aura.

He came to the welcome party with confidence, intending to recruit Lin Feng and the other two, only to leave dejectedly with four subordinates. Under Lin Feng’s indifferent stare and Yun Kai’s defiant gaze, he didn’t even dare to utter harsh words.

He had never imagined that as a senior and the head of the student council’s organization department, with his identity and strength, he would be so disregarded at the Red Cloud Association. He couldn’t believe how mature and cunning Lin Feng was, just having graduated high school at the tender age of sixteen, ready to confront his threats and dissuade him with just a few words.

Of course, this was because Lin Feng and the others’ talents shone too brightly, already garnering attention from the school’s leadership, making him hesitant to resort to petty tricks.

Had it been a regular freshman, they would have succumbed to his maneuvers long ago.

Precisely due to losing face in front of Lin Feng, he faced ridicule from many, and the attitude of members in the organization department began to shift, no longer as obedient as before. Among them, a deputy minister boasting similar strength and background started eyeing his minister’s seat.

And the culprit behind all this was Lin Feng!

If given the chance, he would certainly seek revenge!

”So many powerful figures!”

Yun Kai looked up at the sky, his eyes filled with amazement.

Above them, two to three hundred people flew with wings sprouting from their backs, hovering mid-air. These people’s wings were multi-colored, formed from different attributes of spiritual power, clearly indicating they were formidable figures at or above the Seventh Grade Realm capable of infusing spiritual power into wings.

Apart from that, there were wings in bizarre shapes, resembling a bird’s wings. Those possessing such wings had unusual appearances, and their bodies underwent mutations, evidently due to refining flying demon spirits.

Amongst them were Eighth and even Ninth Grade powerhouses. Their strength was formidable, yet even they showed substantial interest in today’s throne challenge.

The throne challenge at Red Cloud University essentially represents this year’s top prodigies emerging from Guanglin.

In the throne challenge, the new students who secure seats are likely to have intricate connections with them in the future.

A significant number of powerful families and consortia came with recruitment intentions.

Gifted yet lacking background freshmen are their preferred targets.

”That one named Ye Ming refined the Earth Chart’s 194th Blood Shadow Beast, reaching First Grade Martial Artist status, having strength to enter the top ten.”

Many gazed toward Ye Ming. Regardless of the grade and strength of the demon spirits, he was a prominent newcomer with a notable reputation, hence not unfamiliar to many.

In comparison to Ye Ming, although Deng Chen and others had commendable fame, they hadn’t refined Earth Chart demon spirits, thus drawing less attention.

”That’s Poison Beast Master Bai Ji, from the notorious poison clan of West River. Rumor has it he’s the most talented in the Bai Family in ten years; his strength should be able to crack the top three!”

The crowd turned their gaze to a youth dressed in white, holding a Jade Flute, his face appearing pale, yet his demeanor revealed a hint of apprehension and fear.

Beast Control Master is a Legendary Profession. One must refine rare Spirit Series demon spirits to control demon beasts, making Poison Beast Master a branch of Beast Control Master.

A profession that strikes fear in everyone.

Controlling inherently violent and wild demon beasts is difficult; it requires nurturing from a young age, building emotional bonds, and possessing formidable spiritual power, whereas for Poison Series demon beasts, these methods are almost worthless.

Poison Series demon beasts are nearly all cold-blooded animals, with limited intelligence. Even if raised from a young age, they wouldn’t recognize their owner. A careless bite could lead to severe consequences, potentially costing one’s life.

In all professionals’ eyes, those daring to choose Poison Beast Master as a profession are madmen.

Madmen unafraid of death!

Among them, the Bai Family of Guanglin is most renowned.

The Bai Family is famous for their poison, and its members have been raised with poison since childhood. Even the Glory Race dares not easily provoke them.

Though Bai Ji appears frail, his ability to become the most outstanding talent of the Bai Family in ten years naturally exhibits uniqueness, leading no one to underestimate him.

Bai Ji is merely one focus of discussion; many others, though lesser-known, possess outstanding talent, vying for the First Throne as prodigies.

Though Yun Kai boasts ancestral demonization talent, refining the Earth Chart’s 97th Golden Lion King, he may not hold an advantage against Bai Ji and the others.

As for Lin Feng, despite having the greatest fame, his absence in refining demon spirits leads many to dismiss his chances!

”Alright, time’s up.”

At nine o’clock sharp, an elder clothed in a yellow robe stepped onto the platform, lightly waving his hands, causing the ground to tremble. Amidst the roaring sound, golden seats of various sizes emerged from the ground.

The throne challenge officially begins!
