Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 126: Chapter 112: Challenge

Deng Chen understood that this was a great opportunity.

An opportunity to truly make a name for himself among the new students, with a high chance of success.

Though Lin Feng was very powerful and the most renowned, he had not yet refined a Demon Spirit and was not invincible.

A Demon Spirit Master ranks above a Martial Artist; at the same tier, a Martial Artist who has refined a Demon Spirit is considered invincible.

A powerful Demon Spirit Master even has the ability to challenge higher levels.

Deng Chen refined a Ninth Grade Flame Tiger, renowned for its robust Fire Series attacks, and its attack power is top-level among the Ninth Grade.

In his view, if he enters the Demon Transformation state, significantly enhancing his physical attributes, coupled with the Flame Tiger’s innate skills, the outcome is uncertain.

”As long as someone can defeat Lin Feng, it doesn’t matter who goes up!” Ye Ming said indifferently, seemingly unconcerned.

”Why don’t you go first? You’ve refined an Earth Chart Demon Spirit, so you’re more certain!”

Deng Chen glanced at Ye Ming, pondered for a while, then abandoned the idea.

Although defeating Lin Feng would bring great rewards, his identity as the president of a club complicates matters.

Since Lin Feng hasn’t refined a Demon Spirit, even if he defeats Lin Feng, making a name for himself among new students, it wouldn’t be an honorable victory and could damage his reputation unless he refrains from Demon Transformation and engages in a pure Martial Arts duel.

But in a pure Martial Arts duel, both being First Grade Martial Artists, he feared he would be crushed miserably.

”A Demon Spirit’s grade doesn’t determine everything.”

Ye Ming wasn’t surprised by Deng Chen’s refusal, as he had already anticipated it: ”Besides, there’s no need for us to take action personally; we can just have our people do it!”

”Have our people do it?”

Deng Chen started to understand at this point.

Ye Ming wasn’t interested in necessarily defeating Lin Feng nor putting on a show; he simply wanted to probe Lin Feng’s strength.

The goal was naturally for the Postnatal Throne Challenge!

Ye Ming’s strength is formidable; as a First Grade Martial Artist, he has refined the 194th-ranked Blood Shadow Beast on the Earth Chart, qualifying him to compete for the First Throne!

The new student Throne Challenge has one hundred positions, but there is only one throne, and the rewards are the most plentiful.

The appearance of the second and the hundredth position is not much different!

The Throne Challenge is like the college entrance examination.

People will only remember the name of the top scorer; no one pays special attention to the ranking.

And Lin Feng, a Body Cultivator of the Eighth Rank, could easily overpower a First Grade Martial Artist. Now as a First Grade Martial Artist, even without refining a Demon Spirit, no one dares to underestimate him; he also qualifies for the First Throne.

As for why Ye Ming wouldn’t take action himself, it’s not hard to guess; there are mainly two reasons.

The first is to avoid injury.

Against Lin Feng, none of them are confident of victory. If they fail, it would not only affect the Throne Challenge ranking for the Postnatal challenge but also damage the club’s reputation.

Secondly, joining the Red Cloud Team is more important compared to the Throne Challenge!

Lin Feng and Yun Kai, along with Dong Yunan; one is a gifted Demon Spirit Master, another is a rare combat genius, plus a Therapist. This is already the top configuration for the Glory Team.

In the eyes of many school leaders, the addition of Lin Feng and the other two suggests the rise of Red Cloud University in the nationwide Glory Battle among colleges three years later.

The three of them seem to have already secured the three main positions in the team.

The Glory Battle is team combat. Compared to individual combat strength, the camaraderie between team members, the selection and cooperation of Demon Spirits, and the combination of Demon Spirit Skills are more important.

If in the future, Lin Feng and the other two join the Hongyu Team and become key players, the remaining two key positions may likely refer to their opinions.

It is evidently unwise to offend Lin Feng so easily.

This is also the main reason why Ye Ming doesn’t take action himself.

”So, do you have any objections?”

Ye Ming asked since the stage was built by Deng Chen after all, and every new student who performed on stage needed to be selected. Without his consent, the plan couldn’t be implemented.

”Of course not, why would I have any objections!”

Deng Chen nodded; since he didn’t have to take action himself, he naturally had no reason to refuse.

He actually also wanted to see the true strength of the top scorer of the college entrance examination; if possible, he also wanted to compete for the First Throne.

As a First Grade Martial Artist who refined a Ninth Grade Demon Spirit, he naturally has hope!

After Deng Chen agreed, Ye Ming didn’t intend to continue chatting. After exchanging a few simple words, he left.

”Brother Deng, what did Ye Ming want?”

After Ye Ming left, a young boy came to inquire.

”Nothing, just a small matter!”

Watching Ye Ming’s disappearing figure, Deng Chen’s eyes flickered slightly, and he felt a little more wary of Ye Ming.

Not only in background but also in strength, the two were almost evenly matched; even in terms of Demon Spirit grade, Ye Ming was stronger.

Their goals were also the same: to attract new students and establish their own forces, hoping to join the Red Cloud Team in the future.

From their conversation just now, he realized that Ye Ming had considered things far more comprehensively than he had, and he was bound to become his main rival at Red Cloud University.

As nine o’clock approached, the place became increasingly lively, and the excited freshmen had no plans to rest.

New student performances continued non-stop on stage. With seventeen thousand new students, even just one percent, with each performing for ten minutes, could fill an entire day.

Not only new students but many returning students joined in; for the older students, with their daily heavy courses, the harsh battles in the Otherworld, it was rare to have a day to relax and enjoy. They too didn’t want to miss it.

Groups of returning students gathered, having barbecues, sipping small drinks, and chatting.

They didn’t engage with the new students, unless it was a cute and pretty junior.

In a corner.

Zhang Yu looked at Lin Feng with a troubled expression: ”That big tall guy is the half-beastman Yun Kai, and the one beside him is Lin Feng. When the Yixing Night Ghost possessed him and looked at him, even using the first Soul Skill ’White Nether,’ nothing was seen? If I hadn’t noticed the danger early and shielded his eyes, Yixing’s eyes might have gone blind!”

Sitting next to Zhang Yu was a long-haired young man, his pitch-black hair hanging to his shoulders, with an ancient-looking long sword by his side. Upon hearing these words, he furrowed his brows: ”Zhang Yu, I heard it was you who encouraged Yixing to use Ghost Eye. Do you know how important Yixing is to the Wu Family? The Night Ghost isn’t something just anyone can refine. If he truly went blind, the Wu Family wouldn’t easily let you off, and not even the captain could protect you!”

Zhang Yu’s face changed slightly. He didn’t deny it, his tone was somewhat bitter and regretful: ”Deputy, you also know the innate ability of Yixing’s Demon Spirit; over these years, nothing has ever happened to anyone he’s looked at. Who knew this would occur!”

”Yeah, Deputy, the main issue is that Lin Feng is too mysterious; a red shadow, who knows what it is!” Seeing the awkward atmosphere, a young girl chimed in.

Mu Xingguang evidently realized this was the case, so he didn’t blame Zhang Yu further. He glanced slightly at Lin Feng; he had heard many times about this top scorer, who almost blinded Yixing. Indeed, he was extraordinary.

”Oh, why is someone carrying a weapon?”

While Mu Xingguang was observing Lin Feng, the young girl who spoke earlier slightly exclaimed. Mu Xingguang shifted his gaze and saw a robust young man standing at the center of the stage, holding a giant battle saber.

”Hello everyone, my name is He Shan. Today’s welcome party is exciting, but I find it lacks some passion and blood boiling.”

Facing the surprised eyes of the crowd, the young man extended his right hand, pointing the battle saber at the new students: ”How can Martial Artists be without combat? I don’t have any talent, but my skills are decent. As a First Grade Martial Artist who has refined an Eighth Grade Profound Iron Rhinoceros, today I want to challenge someone to entertain everyone!”

Challenge?

He Shan’s words took many by surprise. No one expected challenges at the welcome party, but it indeed seemed interesting.

Though the performances were exciting, after two hours, they became a bit dull, nowhere near as thrilling as combat!

”Does anyone want to come on stage? Or should I choose my opponent myself?”

After speaking, He Shan’s eyes swept over the new students. Finally, he pointed his battle saber in a direction and laughed loudly: ”Among the new students, there’s someone most famous, so I’ll challenge him!”
