Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 122: Chapter 108: First Throne

What Wu Yixing refined was an Eighth Grade Demon Spirit, the Night Ghost.

The Night Ghost belongs to the Undead Class, Nether Race, Spirit Series Demon Beast, a type of Demon Beast extremely rare, normal people have never even heard of it, let alone seen it.

This is a Demon Spirit passed down through the Wu Family, its innate ability lies mainly in those completely black eyes.

Because of its eerie and terrifying nature, along with its special abilities, these eyes are also called Ghost Eyes.

Ghost Eyes not only possess a Spiritual Attack but also have a special ability; they can see some supernatural phenomena that normal people cannot see.

For example, a person’s talents, future fate, the auspiciousness or ominousness of a journey, etc.

Moreover, as the Demon Spirit’s strength increases, what it can see also varies, and legendary evolutions of the Night Ghost allow those Ghost Eyes to glimpse the rules and mysteries of the world.

”What did you see?” someone couldn’t help but ask curiously.

Wu Yixing’s profession is a Demon Controller, but because of the Night Ghost, he also has a recognized profession as an Astrologer.

Astrologer is a nicer term; in fact, it just means a fortune-teller.

Everyone has been looked at by those Ghost Eyes, and everyone sees something different, but all are very accurate, which is why everyone uses this honorific title.

When they go on missions, if the mission level is high or dangerous, they spend a little money to let Wu Yixing take a look.

If it’s a good omen, they naturally have more confidence; if it’s a bad omen, they prepare more, call more people, or just cancel the mission altogether.

”Strange, why is it unclear!”

Wu Yixing looked down at Lin Feng, his brow slightly furrowed; in his eyes, Lin Feng showed no changes.

Generally speaking, unless the strength gap is too great, even if it were a Seventh Grade teacher from the academy, he would still see something vaguely, never before has this situation occurred!

And Lin Feng’s strength is just a First Grade Martial Artist, has yet to refine a Demon Spirit, with his strength as a Second Grade Martial Artist and a First Grade Demon Spirit Master, he shouldn’t be unable to see.

”White Nether!”

Wu Yixing frantically channeled his Spiritual Power, activating his Demon Spirit Skill, the light in his eyes became even more dazzling, and a white dot suddenly appeared in the originally black eyes, expanding and contracting like a pupil!

”Shadow?”

In his eyes, Lin Feng’s figure grew increasingly dark, like a shadow flickering in the night, and began to change color, turning blood-red!

”Ah!”

Wu Yixing let out a scream, his whole body uncontrollably trembling.

”Yixing, what’s wrong?”

The team next to him was startled, not knowing what happened.

In their eyes, Wu Yixing’s expression was terrified as though he had seen something horrifying, and his originally black eyes had turned blood-red, with two streams of fresh blood flowing from them, looking especially terrifying.

”Stop it!”

Beside him, holding a long knife, Zhang Yu, who had first asked Wu Yixing to take a look, hastily shouted to stop.

But at this moment, Wu Yixing had no reaction, his body stiff, eyes vacant but still staring at Lin Feng with a deadly gaze.

Zhang Yu’s face changed, his figure flashed, appearing in front of Wu Yixing, using his hand to block Wu Yixing’s gaze.

As expected, once he blocked it, Wu Yixing slowly ceased trembling, and the blood flowing from his eyes stopped.

”Yixing, what’s wrong?”

When Wu Yixing stopped trembling, Zhang Yu asked worriedly.

If something happened to Wu Yixing, he couldn’t escape responsibility.

The Wu Family would not let him off easily.

”It’s fortunate you acted in time; otherwise, a bit longer, and I’d have gone blind!”

Wu Yixing closed his eyes tightly, looking somewhat terrified; if Zhang Yu had been a step later in blocking, he might really have ended up blind.

He couldn’t imagine life afterwards, which would be worse than death.

He still felt lingering fear now.

”Almost blind, this serious?”

Zhang Yu and others looked grim, somewhat unbelieving.

”Why scare you, even if not blind, won’t be able to open my eyes for two or three months!” Wu Yixing’s tone was somewhat despondent and fearful.

Two to three months of not being able to open his eyes meant no training or going to the Otherworld, a very bad message for the team.

Fortunately, today, due to training, the main team members were not present, or else Zhang Yu would have been severely chastised as the instigator.

Zhang Yu also felt somewhat regretful now; today, almost all of the team’s attendees were second-year students, and the emergence of first-year newcomers meant a high possibility of replacing them in the team!

The third and fourth-year students, however, were unaffected.

Among them, Lin Feng and Yun Kai had the most significant reputation, the most likely to threaten his position.

”What did you see?”

Zhang Yu asked as Lin Feng’s faint silhouette disappeared.

”A shadow, a red shadow!” Wu Yixing’s expression was grave.

”Red shadow? What is that?” Zhang Yu did not understand.

”Don’t know, just a red shadow!”

Shaking his head, Wu Yixing also didn’t understand what he had seen, why it had injured him severely!

Even upon seeing the red shadow at that moment, his mind was captivated, his body uncontrollable, even unable to close his eyes.

For that instant, Wu Yixing felt like a puppet, controlled by another.

”Red shadow? That shadow was Lin Feng? Red, might be a bad omen!” someone speculated, gaining much agreement.

Soon, Wu Yixing, eyes tightly closed, was carefully led down the tower, causing many students’ surprise.

Now, when the Red Cloud Team looked at Lin Feng, their eyes held a trace of gravity and caution.

Regardless of what Wu Yixing had seen, that Lin Feng could nearly blind him meant he was evidently terrifying.

.....

”Is someone spying on me?”

Lin Feng’s skin prickled, sensing a Spiritual Power secretly watching him.

At that moment, he felt as if stripped naked, every secret exposed, and at the same time, the Nightmare within him stirred restlessly, though the Spiritual Power lasted only ten or twenty seconds before disappearing.

”As expected of Red Cloud University, all sorts of talents exist!”

Lin Feng looked up towards the tower, vaguely sensing the Spiritual Power originated from there, but he didn’t know the specific location.

Lin Feng’s expression didn’t change, but he was inwardly vigilant; Demon Spirits have all sorts of innate abilities, some never before heard of, requiring caution.

Fortunately, the Nightmare seemed to have mutated due to the Sealing Evil Seal.

The Nightmare within him, seemingly merged with his blood, couldn’t be detected by the Demon-Revealing Mirror.

This was also a good thing for Lin Feng, avoiding the risk of exposing the Nightmare.

Amidst the public’s eye, the group from Jiang City entered through the city gates.

Inside the city, aside from the architecture leaning towards the antique style, the teaching buildings, training grounds, and library were all present, not much different from a usual university campus.

Occasionally, groups of three or five adventurer teams bearing weapons, stained with blood or carrying Demon Beast trophies, passed by them.

”Third Grade Profound Tiger!”

Yang Fan couldn’t help but exclaim; at that moment, a robust youth, bare-chested, was carrying a large, entirely fiery-red Demon Beast past them, with droplets of blood dripping from the beast’s neck wound.

”Rookie!”

The youth glanced at Yang Fan, his eyes like knives, filled with aggression and ferocity.

”They are all third-year students, just having ventured into the Otherworld.” Jiang Hong smiled, introduced, pointing northwest:

”There are two Otherworld Spatial Gates in the campus, one in the northwest where Demon Beasts’ strength ranges from First to Second Grade, the other located centrally in school where Demon Beasts’ strength is Third Grade and above, only accessible to third-year and fourth-year students, certain core areas are student-restricted and only teachers dare to venture.”

These facts Lin Feng had understood before coming to Red Cloud, but with Jiang Hong as a teacher, he naturally had clearer details, so he observed the campus, listening as well.

Under Jiang Hong’s leadership, Lin Feng arrived at a vast plaza.

Countless multicolored tents filled the plaza, looking extremely spectacular; occasionally, new students emerged or entered the tents.

”You’ll all be staying in tents for the next two days; the new student tournament officially begins the day after tomorrow!”

Jiang Hong took a red tent from the new student reception, handed it to Lin Feng, and smiled: ”Wish you to claim the First Throne!”

Lin Feng accepted the tent, not surprised.

As one of the Three Heroic Academies, Red Cloud naturally wasn’t short on funds; the campus was vast, it naturally wouldn’t lack dorms, even standalone student villas existed.

However, as new students, both dorm allocation and resources are distributed based on strength rankings.

The ranking is determined by the new student tournament the day after tomorrow.

This year, Red Cloud’s first-year students number seventeen thousand, competing for one hundred seats.

And the first seat is the First Throne!
