Merging with Demon Spirits

Chapter 118: Chapter 104: Losing Face

Lin Feng couldn’t understand why this buzz-cut cousin was so excited to see him?

Could he be a fan of his?

”Cousin.” Lin Feng greeted back.

Seeing Lin Feng call him cousin, Lin Xiaofei grinned even wider, just like his father.

He seemed to foresee the start of a wonderful university life.

”Cousin, I’m so happy to meet you. It’s my first time meeting you, so let me introduce myself. My name is Lin Xiaofei, and like you, I was admitted to Red Cloud University this year.”

Lin Xiaofei quickly said, and although it was their first meeting, Lin Feng could tell that this cousin was naturally sociable.

”Cousin, when are you going to school? Can we go together then?”

”What a coincidence, the date is not yet decided.”

At this moment, Lin Feng somewhat understood why Lin Xiaofei was so excited.

Lin Feng glanced at Lin Anbang, a thought flashed in his mind, but he didn’t pay much attention to it.

”Brother Feng, why are you here?”

Just then, Dong Yunan appeared in front of Lin Feng, looking pleasantly surprised.

”Here to celebrate, just like you.”

Lin Feng ruffled Dong Yunan’s hair, not explaining much.

Although they were the same age, Dong Yunan was like a little sister to Lin Feng.

Sure enough, he’s a big shot!

Seeing this scene, Lin Xiaofei secretly thought.

Although the Lin family and Dong family were not close allies, they had a decent relationship.

Of course, he knew Little Sister Dong, but unfortunately, she wasn’t pretty. Though somewhat cute, she wasn’t his type, and their personalities didn’t match, so their relationship was average.

After the college entrance exams, upon learning that Dong Yunan also got into Red Cloud, Lin Xiaofei contacted Little Sister Dong, thinking of building a good relationship. If he could team up with Little Sister Dong at Red Cloud University, that would be great.

With the support of a therapist, safety would be assured.

If a team has a therapist, it’s as good as gold. And the eighth-grade Sea Demon spirit is the top-notch among therapists.

Just Little Sister Dong alone could attract many talents to form a powerful team.

Lin Xiaofei wanted to build a good relationship, but unfortunately, Little Sister Dong became haughty and didn’t care much for him.

Unexpectedly, in front of my cousin, she’s also just a little sister.

”Lin Xiaofei, what kind of expression is that?”

Dong Yunan glared at Lin Xiaofei, her eyes showing a bit of displeasure.

”Nothing, what do you mean?”

Lin Xiaofei quickly changed his expression, looking puzzled, glancing at Lin Feng and spreading his hands to show his innocence.

”Haha.”

Seeing this, Lin Anbang couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

Just as he had expected, Lin Feng and Dong Yunan had a good relationship, now Lin Xiaofei had backing at Red Cloud.

As Lin Xiaofei and Dong Yunan bickered, at least forty to fifty people gathered in their direction.

Among them were mostly children and teenagers, and also some men and women in their twenties, all with excited expressions.

”Lin Feng, can I take a picture with you?”

”Brother Lin Feng, give me an autograph, I’m your little fan.”

Many people came to attend Old General Lin’s event, and many brought their children along.

These children, like Dong Yunan, were originally bored playing with their phones, but now seeing Lin Feng, they swarmed over like crazy, startling Lin Anbang and the others.

At this moment, the handsome young man with a faint smile seemed to become the star of the birthday banquet.

This left Lin Yuanshan a bit speechless!

Not out of jealousy, but wasn’t it supposed to be his big birthday celebration, how did someone else steal the limelight?

”Second Brother, is this really your grandson?”

”No way, Lin Feng is Second Brother’s grandson? I didn’t know!”

”Old Lin, you can really keep a secret! Your grandson is so successful, how humble of you!”

”Little Lin, I’ve never asked you for anything, but this year my granddaughter also got into Red Cloud. Please ask your grandson to look after her.”

Many relatives and friends asked Lin Yuanshan, their words filled with excitement and envy, even a hint of flattery.

Clearly, to them, having a top scorer grandson was a great honor.

Even Lin Yuanshan himself didn’t expect that his captain would ask for a favor.

The envy and jealousy of his comrades made Lin Yuanshan feel a bit complex, but on the surface, he remained composed.

”Eat, you old fellow, I’ve always been very low-key!”

Lin Yuanshan did not admit it directly, but indirectly confirmed it.

Elsewhere, Seventh Sister, holding Lin Fang, looked at Lin Feng with some envy and said:

”Fifth Sister, you’re amazing, raising Lin Feng so well, so accomplished. If my son were half as successful as Lin Feng, I’d wake up laughing from a dream.”

”Yes, Fifth Sister, look, even the old man doesn’t seem angry anymore.”

Lin Xinyuan also said with a smile.

Lin Fang secretly glanced at her father. At this time, Lin Yuanshan’s expression was still normal, which finally calmed Lin Fang’s anxious heart, as she was worried her father would get angry.

”No, the child put in his own effort!”

Lin Fang modestly said, yet she couldn’t help but feel proud of her son in her heart.

Though born into a military family, with a father who was a martial arts expert, Lin Fang was never interested in martial arts and didn’t have any talent for it.

As a girl, after her mother passed away early, her father was very strict but loved her dearly, never demanding that she must pursue martial arts.

She had no interest in politics or business, and after meeting that man, she didn’t even graduate from college.

Her childhood dream was to be a professional homemaker with a loving husband, to have two children. That was the life she wanted.

Among the ten siblings, she is the most unaccomplished.

For the sake of a man, she even broke ties with her family. Undoubtedly, she is a complete failure.

Out of inferiority and fear, she never dared to return home.

But now, because of Lin Feng, she has gained some confidence in front of her family.

Her whole life might have been a failure, but at least she has a good son!

...

An hour later, when the last dish was served, it signified the official end of the birthday banquet.

Guests began to leave, while some war buddies and relatives close to Lin Yuanshan were still lingering.

”Old Lin, the meal is over, where is your precious grandson? Have him come over and add my granddaughter’s contact so he can take care of her at Red Cloud.”

”Yeah, my grandson is waiting to call him big brother. Why aren’t you asking him over?”

”Exactly, Old Lin, what kind of excuses are you making? Are you not giving me face, or even the captain?”

As the banquet ended, old comrades and relatives expressed some discontent towards Lin Yuanshan.

At that moment, Lin Yuanshan was terribly awkward.

He hadn’t yet forgiven his daughter, so what was the point of asking his grandson to help?

If he did, how could he maintain his grandfatherly authority with that boy later on?

Yet, he couldn’t ignore the face of his comrades and relatives, but this situation was tricky to explain, causing the atmosphere to become tense.

”Brother Lin, that’s your grandson. You wouldn’t say you can’t summon him, would you? Just say it if you can’t, we won’t laugh at you.”

A chubby old man stood up, patted his big belly, and laughed.

From the earlier interaction between Lin Fang and Lin Yuanshan, he vaguely sensed something, but clearly, it wasn’t related to Lin Feng, so he deliberately provoked.

”Li Dapao, you’ve had a few sips of horse urine and forgot who you are! Our Old Lin is known for strict family discipline, what makes you think he can’t summon his own grandson?”

Another old man pretended to chide, but was actually stirring things up.

”Yeah, even if Lin Feng is a top achiever in the entrance exam, a genius, he would still obediently call grandpa in front of Old Lin!”

”Not necessarily. I think Lin Feng doesn’t seem to fear Old Lin.”

Lin Yuanshan had drunk some wine too, and his comrades and friends’ jeers left him in a pickle, so he couldn’t help but curse: ”You guys are talking nonsense, my grandson, how could I not summon him!”

The friends exchanged glances and all showed a hint of smugness, yet continued to tease: ”Then call him, see if he comes.”

”Indeed, if he doesn’t come, it’s embarrassing. Next time we drink, I’ll tell Seventh Hong, he’ll laugh till his belly bursts.”

Lin Yuanshan, unsure whether it was anger or alcohol, showed a reddish hue on his face.

Seventh Hong was Lin Yuanshan’s nemesis who didn’t attend the birthday banquet due to a mission. They shared a good relationship, equally matched in prowess, and equal in rank, but neither submitted to the other. If the other knew about this, he certainly would laugh heartily.

Plus, even his old captain had made a request, which he couldn’t refuse at all.

Thinking of this, Lin Yuanshan made up his mind and shouted: ”Lin Feng.”

The voice was quite loud, startling everyone.

Upon hearing his name called, Lin Feng looked up; the person calling seemed to be his grandfather?

”Go on, your grandfather is calling you,” Lin Fang urged promptly.

Seeing his mother’s expectant eyes, Lin Feng nodded and walked toward Lin Yuanshan.

Facing a group of older individuals, many donned in military attire, Lin Feng smiled slightly and came in front of Lin Yuanshan, respectfully saying, ”Grandpa!”

He had just been made aware of the truth; his mother had changed her name after leaving home, trying everything possible to prevent them from finding her, though his uncle had searched many times without success.

Therefore, the previous resentment Lin Feng held vanished.

”Mm.” Lin Yuanshan responded calmly. He initially worried Lin Feng might not give face, leaving him embarrassed. After all, Lin Feng seemed to have quite a notorious temper, but surprisingly, Lin Feng behaved so well, leaving him relieved.

”Wow, Old Lin, I, Li Dapao, admit my mistake; I’ll finish this drink in respect.”

The chubby old man playfully shouted and downed a large glass of white wine, which made Lin Yuanshan feel a little triumphant.

”These are your grandpa’s comrades and friends; this is your third uncle. Some of their grandsons and granddaughters got into Red Cloud University this year, you exchange contacts with them, and take care of each other at school!”

”Yes, understood, Grandpa.”

Lin Feng behaved very politely, his attitude very respectful, further satisfying Lin Yuanshan.

”This kid, as long as cultivated well, isn’t too bad!”

Lin Yuanshan muttered in his heart.

”Lin Feng, this is my granddaughter’s number, remember to add her. She’s my precious granddaughter, my darling, your grandpa calls me captain, you should give me this face!”

A one-armed elder smiled at Lin Feng.

Though a senior, for his beloved granddaughter, the elder did not put up airs.

”Don’t worry, I will definitely take care of her.” Lin Feng promised earnestly.

”And my grandson, named Li Zixing, he has good talent and strength, just weak in real combat; if you have time teach him a bit, Lin Feng.”

The chubby old man introduced a young boy to Lin Feng.

In contrast to their teasing of Lin Yuanshan, these elders were much more courteous to Lin Feng.

They didn’t expect Lin Feng to form an adventure team with their grandchildren, but as long as he could look after them, at least in Red Cloud University, their grandchildren wouldn’t be bullied at will.

If they encountered danger in the Otherworld, and Lin Feng happened to pass by, lending a hand would be sufficient.

For their grandchildren, they all lowered their stance before Lin Feng.

”Okay, you can find me at school; I’ll take you into the Otherworld a few times, and your combat skills will naturally improve.” Lin Feng said to the young boy.

Li Zixing nodded repeatedly, not speaking, seemingly shy.

”Brother Lin, thanks, old buddy, I’ll take my leave; hope we can gather again sometime.” The chubby old man nodded in satisfaction, thanking Lin Yuanshan.

Lin Yuanshan waved his hand: ”You rascal, there’s no need for thanks between us!”

After all the guests and relatives left, only Lin Yuanshan and Lin Feng were left.

This unfamiliar grandfather and grandson pair remained silent.

After a while, Lin Yuanshan looked at Lin Feng, his gaze sharply piercing: ”Have you killed someone?”
