Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 690: Chapter 690: Encountering Splendid Auspiciousness (24)

”Chief Medical Examiner Yan, why aren’t you helping me analyze the case instead of snatching someone else’s victim?”

Shen Siming pushed open the door, only to see Yan Yu squatting on the floor, holding a girl’s leg and carefully cleaning a wound.

Chuzheng: ”...”

This is the end.

It was bad enough that Good Person Card saw the wound.

Now another one has popped up... Might as well get rid of them.

Shen Siming slammed the door shut and glanced at the sign outside.

Forensic Office.

He hadn’t walked into the wrong place.

So what did he just see?

Had he seen a ghost?

Yan Yu, who loved to be with corpses, was actually holding a little girl?

The alarm bells were ringing in Shen Siming’s head.

Shen Siming pushed the door open again: ”Yan Yu, I’m telling you, murder is illegal!!”

”Captain Shen, don’t you know how to knock?” Yan Yu said with an unpleasant tone, showing his discontent with Shen Siming barging in twice.

Shen Siming: ”I’m just worried you’ll make a mistake. Since when has a medical examiner become a doctor?”

Yan Yu: ”A forensic pathologist is also a doctor.”

Shen Siming: ”Haha, who told me before that, ’I’m a medical examiner, I only deal with dead bodies, not the living’?”

Shen Siming mimicked Yan Yu’s tone perfectly, capturing his way of speaking.

They had worked on cases together in the past. Back then, if he got injured, asking Yan Yu for help with first aid, he’d just watch him bleed without offering to stop the bleeding.

With a lofty attitude, he said that a medical examiner only deals with dead bodies. If one wanted his assistance, one had to be dead first.

Chuzheng unexpectedly chimed in: ”He might have mistaken me for a corpse.”

Good Person Card was considering killing herself.

If this wasn’t treating oneself like a corpse, what was?

Truly terrifying.

Yan Yu frowned: ”I only help you.”

Shen Siming’s suspicious gaze shifted between Chuzheng and Yan Yu.

He had just heard downstairs that Yan Yu had taken the victim from someone else’s case.

Seeing this young girl and Yan Yu’s behavior upon his arrival, he genuinely worried that Yan Yu was finally turning into a deviant.

Unexpectedly, Yan Yu was quite protective of this girl.

That was rare.

Yan Yu applied good medicine and wrapped Chuzheng’s wound with a bandage before letting down her trousers.

Shen Siming pulled Yan Yu aside: ”Chief Medical Examiner Yan, you’ve been making frequent calls lately. Could she be the one you’re always on the phone with?”

Yan Yu admitted without hesitation: ”Yeah.”

Shen Siming exclaimed in surprise: ”Damn, are you really in a relationship now?”

Shen Siming had always thought that Yan Yu would end up spending his life with corpses.

He had known Yan Yu for a long time. Yan Yu always masked himself with a layer that others couldn’t see through, showing a lack of compassion and attention to the living.

Every now and then, he would seem terrifying.

Like the aura surrounding the psychotic killers he had apprehended.

Such people, if not careful, could cross the line and become criminals, and the troublesome kind at that.

Shen Siming had always been worried about this, afraid that someday Yan Yu would stop being vigilant,

Yan Yu answered in a low voice: ”Not yet.”

Shen Siming let out a ”Huh”: ”You haven’t won her over yet? Impossible, with your looks, shouldn’t the girls be chasing you?”

Shen Siming had blind confidence in Yan Yu’s appearance.

Of course, Yan Yu was indeed attractive.

In their department, even the female officers couldn’t compete with him.

”Soon.”

”Tsk, you’re about to be taken, and how many girls in our department will be heartbroken...” Shen Siming shook his head, ”I really didn’t see this coming...”

Shen Siming glanced over at Chuzheng.

The young girl was dressed casually, and her clothes didn’t seem to be designer labels, but her demeanor was not something an ordinary person could match.

Most importantly — the young girl appeared rather cold and aloof!

”You actually like this type.” Yan Yu, who already wasn’t a warm person, now paired with someone so icy... Two icebergs at home, Shen Siming thought, was a terrifying prospect.

”It’s not about the type,” Yan Yu said. ”You don’t understand.”

”Right, right, right. How would I understand, a single dog like me. I won’t bother you anymore; I’ve got a case to work on.” Shen Siming originally wanted to discuss the case with Yan Yu, but now he had to rely on himself.

When leaving, Shen Siming patted his shoulder, his words laden with significance, ”You should hurry up and take her down, they’re waiting for her to give a statement.”

-

Yan Yu went down first to inquire about the situation.

It wasn’t anything major, just a few young thugs harassing Wan Xiaoxiao on the street, which Chuzheng happened to witness.

The thugs even tried to bully Chuzheng, but eventually, they were subdued by the promptly arriving police officers.

The thugs claimed Chuzheng had hit them, but what the police officers saw was the thugs ganging up and bullying Chuzheng.

While Chuzheng was giving her statement, Yan Yu accompanied her the whole time.

Since Chuzheng was the victim, when Yan Yu requested to be present, they couldn’t really refuse.

So by the time Chuzheng finished giving her statement, everyone knew that Chief Medical Examiner Yan was possibly in love, shattering the hearts of countless young women.

Thus, while Chuzheng waited for the outcome, someone peeked in through the doorway every three minutes on average, trying to catch a glimpse.

In the end, the young thugs were detained, and they kept shouting about their innocence.

Yan Yu came in with a cup of water and handed it to Chuzheng.

”Are we done?” Can we leave now?

”Yes,” said Yan Yu. ”We can go now; I’ve already had someone take your assistant back.”

Yan Yu paused for a moment, ”Next time something like this happens, don’t take it on by yourself. What if you get hurt?”

”As if they could do anything,” Chuzheng said, unconcerned.

”You got hurt.”

”It was an accident!” Chuzheng said, her small face stern as she defended herself, ”It has nothing to do with them.”

Would those punks have been able to hurt her if it hadn’t been for Wan Xiaoxiao’s interference?

It was all because of the Oil Bottle, Wan Xiaoxiao.

”The fact remains that you were injured,” Yan Yu emphasized.

”Accident,” Chuzheng said fiercely, glaring at him, ”I said it was an accident. Is it so necessary to keep bringing up that I got hurt? Can’t you just let it go?!”

”...”

In light of Chuzheng’s injury, Yan Yu didn’t argue with her but simply advised her not to do it again.

”You sit here for a bit. I’m going up to get my coat, and then I’ll take you home.”

Chuzheng’s lips parted, but Yan Yu cut in before she could speak, ”You’re injured, don’t refuse me.”

Chuzheng: ”...”

Such a minor injury.

She was still full of energy!

Chuzheng waited for Yan Yu below, and it took him roughly ten minutes to come down, with Shen Siming following along.

Shen Siming handed him a car key, and seeing Chuzheng, he cheerfully waved to her, ”Little girl, brother will treat you to a meal another day!”

Yan Yu glared at him.

Shen Siming sighed and left, shaking his head, ”A single dog like me can only work overtime. What are you guys looking at? Have you finished reviewing the documents? Have you checked the people related to the deceased?”

Shen Siming’s voice grew louder, and a cacophony of sounds collided.

Yan Yu approached Chuzheng, his tone low and gentle, ”Do you need me to carry you?”

”My legs aren’t broken,” Chuzheng refused, ”I can walk!”

Yan Yu chuckled, ”Don’t be stubborn. If the wound bleeds again, it’ll need to be rewrapped. Let me carry you.”

”No!”

Chuzheng refused adamantly and walked towards the outside.

Her steps were normal, showing no sign of injury, and even carried a bit of an imposing air.

Yan Yu: ”...”

Truly interesting.
