Let’s Squander A Billion First!

Chapter 689: Chapter 689: Encountering Splendid Auspiciousness (23)

The movie lasted an hour and a half, ending with the male lead’s death as a tragedy, but the last part was a montage of the female lead’s memories.

As the end approached, Yan Yu suddenly leaned in, ”Miss Jin, may I pursue you?”

His voice overlapped with that of the male protagonist in the movie.

The lights in the theater came on, signaling the end of the movie.

Chuzheng stood up, while Yan Yu waited for her answer, remaining seated.

Chuzheng pulled away from his grasp, and Yan Yu’s eyes dimmed slightly, his heart sinking as well, hinting at a tendency to become upset.

Chuzheng raised her hand, resting it on his hair.

Yan Yu looked at her in astonishment.

Chuzheng, expressionless, gave a couple of rubs.

Indeed, it was soft.

If it weren’t for people behind them needing to leave, Chuzheng would have liked to rub it a few more times.

She casually pulled Yan Yu along, walking out.

Yan Yu watched her holding his hand as they exited the theater, and Chuzheng didn’t let go the entire time.

Yan Yu couldn’t figure out Chuzheng’s intentions and didn’t speak for a while, so the two of them just walked along the street like that.

”Miss Jin, you haven’t answered me,” Yan Yu stopped Chuzheng, ”May I pursue you?”

”That’s your right; you don’t need my permission,” Chuzheng answered calmly.

Yan Yu held Chuzheng’s hand a bit tighter and smiled faintly, ”Then that means yes.”

-

Chuzheng agreed to let Yan Yu pursue her, and he almost appeared before her every day.

They could bump into each other in the elevator going to work, and also by coincidence after work.

Chuzheng could only chuckle at this.

Bumping into each other, my foot.

He definitely had a locator on her.

Chuzheng moved from the hotel to a newly purchased house, and it was not until the next day that Yan Yu found out she was no longer staying at the hotel. He was obviously unhappy when he called her, asking why she left the hotel without telling him.

”Coroner Yan, where I live is my choice.”

”...” There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone: ”Right, you’re correct. Then can you tell me where you’re living now?”

Chuzheng gave an address.

”Could you not call me ’Coroner Yan’?” Yan Yu spoke softly, ”When you call me that, it makes me feel like strangers.”

Sometimes she would call him Yan Yu, but most of the time, she called him Coroner Yan.

Yan Yu didn’t like this way of addressing him.

At least he didn’t like her calling him that.

”Then what should I call you?”

Yan Yu couldn’t see Chuzheng’s face, but he could imagine her expression at that moment, surely calm and indifferent...

”Call me by my name.”

”Yan Yu.”

”Mm.”

”Yan Yu, what are you doing! Come over here!”

Hearing that voice, Chuzheng asked him, ”Are you busy?”

Yan Yu frowned as he looked toward Shen Siming, who was calling out to him, his eyes filled with a dark sheen: ”I’m not busy.”

”Chief Medical Examiner Yan, please don’t call anymore, okay?!” Shen Siming shouted again, ”This body is still waiting for you.”

”Go ahead with your work if you’re busy.”

”I...” The phone line went dead.

Yan Yu was not in a good mood, glaring at Shen Siming, who stood there stiffly. After a moment, he ran over, ”Why are you glaring at me? Who were you calling? You’ve been on the phone a lot lately, could it be... are you dating?”

”No,” Yan Yu put his phone back in his pocket, took gloves and shoe covers from an officer next to him, and entered the crime scene.

-

It was already past midnight when Yan Yu finished dissecting the body and the report. He flipped through his contact list, wanting to press call several times but ultimately pulling back each time. He took a deep breath, put his phone away.

”Coroner Yan, there’s someone downstairs looking for you.” An officer passing by seemed to remember something, came back, and added, ”She’s been waiting for a while.”

”Who?”

”Don’t know, a pretty young lady.”

The officer, busy with work, left in a hurry after speaking.

A pretty young girl?

An image flashed through Yan Yu’s mind, and he almost ran downstairs.

In the hall, he saw a familiar figure.

Seeing him come down, that person immediately ran over: ”Brother Yan Yu.”

The young girl was not very old, seemingly underage, with her hair tied into a bun, very pleasing to look at, and even cuter when she smiled.

The joy in Yan Yu’s heart instantly dissipated, his brows slightly furrowed: ”Why are you here?”

The young girl pouted, complaining: ”Why didn’t you come to see me when you got back? Brother Yan Yu...”

The girl tried to grab Yan Yu’s hand, but he avoided it: ”It’s getting late; you should hurry back.”

”Quiet down, everyone be quiet.”

”Sir, listen to us, she started it, really!!”

”We clearly saw you hit someone first, and now you’re making excuses—do you think we’re blind? Everyone quiet down, no more noise!”

”It’s not like that, we’ve been wronged...”

The noise came from the door, Yan Yu glanced over there, then looked away, but in the next second, he looked back quickly.

Among the crowd, Chuzheng was being helped and walked at the rear, Yan Yu’s expression changed slightly and he rushed over.

Wan Xiaoxiao was pushed aside, and Chuzheng fell into Yan Yu’s arms: ”What happened?”

Chuzheng looked bewildered: ”I’m fine.”

”President Jin, you’re bleeding.” Wan Xiaoxiao was on the verge of tears beside them.

Chuzheng glanced at her, then turned to Yan Yu: ”I’m fine.”

Yan Yu picked up Chuzheng, the officers nearby were obviously confused: ”Hey, Coroner Yan, that’s our...”

Yan Yu, without turning back, said: ”Come see me upstairs later.”

Yan Yu carried Chuzheng upstairs.

”Brother Yan Yu!”

Chuzheng looked back, then patted Yan Yu’s shoulder: ”It seems like she’s calling for you.”

Yan Yu paid no attention and whispered in her ear: ”Miss Jin, please don’t be so generous; keep a closer eye on me.”

Chuzheng: ”??”

Chuzheng’s eyes slightly brightened,

Is this an invitation for me to lock him up with the Good Person Card?

[...] No, that’s not what he meant! Don’t misinterpret it!!

Yan Yu brought Chuzheng to his office, placed her on the desk, holding her shoulders, his face filled with concern: ”Where are you injured?”

Chuzheng denied: ”I’m not injured.”

Yan Yu didn’t believe it: ”Your assistant said you were bleeding.”

Chuzheng insisted: ”She was mistaken.”

”If you don’t tell me, then I’ll check for myself,” Yan Yu’s grip on Chuzheng’s shoulder tightened slightly.

Chuzheng: ”...”

Yan Yu’s hand left Chuzheng’s shoulder, tracing down her arm and landed on the buttons of her shirt hem.

The man’s slim fingers unfastened the bottom button, slowly moving upward.

Chuzheng brushed his hand away and jumped off the desk directly: ”I’m fine.”

What’s the big deal with a girl getting a little hurt!

Who hasn’t been injured before!

There’s no need to make such a fuss!

Yan Yu’s gaze fell on her trousers, where there was a clear bloodstain.

Yan Yu crouched down, and Chuzheng took a step back; he grabbed Chuzheng’s ankle but was cautious, afraid she was really hurt there and didn’t use much force, so Chuzheng broke free easily.

However, as she moved, the bloodstain on her trousers became more evident.

Yan Yu restrained the violence in his heart: ”Let me have a look, be good.”

”I...”

Before Chuzheng could finish refusing, Yan Yu picked her up again and placed her on the desk, quickly pinned her legs down, and lifted the trouser leg.

Chuzheng’s trousers were quite loose and slid up easily, revealing the bleeding wound.

Chuzheng: ”...”

I can’t wear such loose trousers anymore.
