Chapter 679: Chapter 679: Encountering Splendid Auspiciousness (13)

[Side Quest: Acquire the company where Miss works within ten days.]

The task from King’s Account came unexpectedly.

Chuzheng, the poor thing, huffed and puffed her way to buy the company.

The company she worked at was a privately-owned enterprise, and the owners were not very keen on selling, it would take some effort to acquire it.

The CEO of the advertising company probably never expected that an employee he hired would have such grand ambitions, even thinking of buying the company.

Of course, he didn’t give it a second thought before refusing, and even considered firing her.

”Bastard, look, money isn’t everything.”

[Raise the offer!]

King’s Account has deep pockets.

Chuzheng: ”...”

As it turned out, the offer Chuzheng made did not tempt the owner.

Chuzheng entered the creative department feeling half dead.

”Chuzheng, you still dare to come back?” As soon as she walked in, someone sneered.

Chuzheng: ”??”

Why wouldn’t I dare to come back.

It took Chuzheng a while to figure out that the project Xiao Ze was working on had gone awry.

After Xiaoxiao returned, she repeated Xiao Ze’s requests to the person in charge. But after the work was shown to the client, they said it was not at all what they wanted and accused their company of not being serious or responsible.

”I really did repeat it exactly as he said,” Xiaoxiao cried, her eyes red.

She had written it down in her notebook and recited it word for word when she got back; how could she have conveyed it wrong.

It was clearly the client who had changed their story.

But Xiaoxiao, being an intern, nobody believed her words.

Everyone thought it was her fault for mishearing, resulting in the client scolding them.

”If they’re not satisfied, then we won’t do the job.” That bastard Xiao Ze definitely changed his story on purpose, with ill intentions.

”Ha, you think you run this company? You say we won’t do it, so we just won’t do it?” someone at the side immediately mocked.

”Exactly, you’ve been away from the company for so many days, did you already know about this?”

”We got scolded because of you.”

”Wait till the director comes back from the meeting, you’re going to get it.”

Chuzheng: ”...” Not sure who’s going to get it yet.

Speaking of the director, there he was.

He came in with a dark expression, and right in front of everyone, he scolded, ”Jin Chuzheng, Wan Xiaoxiao, what’s the meaning of this? You’ve been at the company for quite some time now, can’t you even handle such a small matter? What did the company hire you for?”

”You... how many days have you not been at the company?”

The director pointed at Chuzheng.

”What do you think this company is, a place you can come and go as you please?”

Chuzheng: ”...” Now it is my place, of course, I can come and go as I please.

”Since you don’t cherish this opportunity, then pack your things and leave.”

Chuzheng: ”...” There’s no use in firing me now!

Seeing Chuzheng remain silent, Wan Xiaoxiao plucked up her courage to explain: ”Director, I really didn’t mishear...”

”You didn’t mishear? Then why does the client say it wasn’t said like that before? A colleague from the client department was also present, he heard it, you misheard and you still have the nerve to argue?” The director was furious, probably got scolded quite a bit in the meeting.

The project with Xiao Ze wasn’t as small as previously reported; on the contrary, if this initial collaboration was successful, there would be larger projects to follow with considerable profits.

Wan Xiaoxiao was left speechless.

She didn’t understand why the colleague from the client department would side with the other party.

Her defense seemed weak and powerless.

She felt as if she could already see herself leaving the company in disgrace.

Thinking about it made Wan Xiaoxiao unbearably sad, finding a good company for an internship was really difficult these days.

Chuzheng was much calmer.

”Are you done talking?” Once you’re done, it should be my turn.

Director: ”???”

Chuzheng emotionlessly brought up her phone, found a recording, and pressed play.

The office suddenly fell silent, with only the voice from the recording playing.

The supervisor’s face changed from anger to confusion, and then to a shade of iron blue.

After the recording ended, Chuzheng looked at them and calmly asked, ”Who is wrong here?”

Wan Xiaoxiao stared with disbelief at Chuzheng—she had actually made a recording...

The director had never imagined that Chuzheng would pull such a stunt as to record the conversation; he was speechless, choking on a thousand words.

Chuzheng had only made the recording because she was too lazy to listen, and to prevent the embarrassment of not knowing should anyone ask.

She had never expected that Xiao Ze would pull this off on her.

-

As everyone stood in awkward silence, several people came in from outside.

Everyone made way for them.

”Assistant Xu?”

The director was surprised to see the visitor, a person from the company’s CEO’s inner circle, seldom seen as they usually stuck by the CEO’s side. Despite the mistake, could it really be that serious as to involve the big boss?

The director quickly said, ”Why have you come? I will resolve this matter immediately...”

Assistant Xu just smiled and said, ”Director Luo, what matter are you resolving?”

That smile from Assistant Xu made the director feel extremely uncomfortable: ”It’s just an intern’s mistake that has caused dissatisfaction with our client, we will come up with a new plan right away, Assistant Xu, you...”

Assistant Xu had no other intention, just a polite smile.

Now, hearing the director’s words, he was even less aware of what the director was talking about. So, he waved his hand, cutting off the director mid-sentence.

”Director Luo, I am here to see Miss Jin. Please carry on with your work, don’t mind me.”

The director felt there was something off in Assistant Xu’s tone.

The rest of the staff looked at Chuzheng with schadenfreude, the situation having escalated to involve top executives.

Even if she had a recording in her possession, they figured she’d still be blamed.

Assistant Xu walked up to Chuzheng: ”Miss Jin, do you have any belongings you need to take with you?”

The office fell into dead silence once more, the employees exchanging glances of confusion.

The tone and form of address from Assistant Xu were unusual.

The word ”you” was a term of respect.

Why would Assistant Xu use such a respectful term for Chuzheng?

Chuzheng looked down at the desk, unsure which items were useful or useless for the original owner: ”Pack everything up.” Just take everything away was the way to go.

”Alright.” Assistant Xu signaled for the people behind him to gather the items: ”Your new office has already been prepared, shall I take you there?”

Chuzheng: ”...”

I have another office?

Wasn’t I just supposed to be a hands-off shopkeeper who only provided the funds?

Why would they prepare an office for me?

”Reassign her to a different position,” Chuzheng pointed at Wan Xiaoxiao.

”Certainly.” Assistant Xu paused for a moment, not daring to assign her too high a position due to the intern’s lack of capability, nor too low for fear of the new boss’s dissatisfaction. He carefully said, ”How does the assistant position sound to you?”

An assistant could, after all, be one of many.

”Whatever.”

”You...” He glanced at Wan Xiaoxiao’s work badge: ”Xiaoxiao, please come with me too.”

-

”What’s happening?”

Only after Chuzheng and Assistant Xu had left was the silence in the office broken.

Everyone was looking at each other, clueless about what had just occurred.

”Director Luo, what... what’s going on with her?”

Director: ”...”

How would he know what was going on? He was also at a loss!

Unable to get any information from the director, the group began to murmur quietly.

”Do you think she could be involved with one of the high-level executives...”

”Assistant Xu came in person; it must be the CEO, right?”

”Heaven... no way!” The CEO was almost an old man.

”There’s nothing she wouldn’t do.” Someone said disdainfully.

”She’s been away from the company for so long, is that what she’s been up to?”
