His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1840: Chapter 526: Asking Him for Help (Part 2)

Mu Yichen was still looking at her. Hearing what she said, his heart leaped with excitement; she finally had something to say to him.

”Okay!”

He pretended to be calm, speaking with a steady voice.

”The Ruisa store next to our JY, just a few stores away, isn’t doing very well in business either. I talked to their boss before I came back, and he wasn’t keen on selling.”

Qin Mu saw how readily he agreed and reminded him.

Mu Yichen nodded: ”Leave this to me. Is it urgent?”

Qin Mu looked up at him, their eyes meeting. She then lowered her gaze, gently stirring the porridge in her bowl, seemingly unperturbed and composed.

”As long as you can buy it, nothing else is urgent!”

Qin Mu answered, but she no longer looked at him.

Mu Yichen watched her for a while longer and felt his appetite improve slightly during dinner.

He had gone out to socialize tonight, fearing she wouldn’t want to eat if she saw him at home. He hadn’t eaten anything but a few drinks. Seeing that it was past dinner time, he returned unexpectedly late, not thinking she’d return so late either.

However, this was a pleasant surprise.

Qin Mu didn’t know how excited Mu Yichen was that she could talk to him, asking him to handle matters.

For now, he desired nothing else, only hoping she’d recover quickly, and then...

After dinner, Mu Yichen went upstairs while Qin Mu sat on the sofa with the elders. Feng Fanghua glanced at her, seeing her listlessness, and felt frustrated: ”What happened this afternoon? Did you leave your phone at the studio?”

Mu Yichen hadn’t gone up yet and heard Feng Fanghua’s question while on the stairs.

”Yes! I forgot after taking Mingzhu home in the afternoon!”

Qin Mu nodded in response.

”Don’t be so absent-minded at such a young age, all right?”

Feng Fanghua sighed, helplessly advising her.

Qin Mu nodded: ”Got it!”

”Say no more, hasn’t everyone been confused at times?”

The old man wasn’t happy hearing his daughter-in-law criticize his granddaughter-in-law. Qin Mu’s father had just passed away, and the old man was brimming with compassion for her.

Feng Fanghua stopped speaking with a lowered head after hearing this, and the old man returned to watching TV. Mu Zihao sat next to Feng Fanghua, engrossed in the TV show, oblivious to their conversation just now.

In the study, Mu Yichen made a call and had just hung up when another call came in; it was Zhao Huai.

”What’s up?”

Mu Yichen suspected Zhao Huai might be drinking, calling at this time.

”Did you know someone’s been causing trouble at your wife’s studio lately?”

Zhao Huai suddenly asked.

Mu Yichen frowned slightly: ”What happened?”

”Xiaomei just told me that several bosses who have been collaborating with your wife came to discuss terminating contracts today; it happened yesterday too!”

”Got it! Let’s talk tomorrow!”

Mu Yichen ended the call upon hearing footsteps approaching, and once he stepped out, he saw Qin Mu coming up. Qin Mu turned her head instinctively upon hearing the sound, their eyes meeting; she glanced at him with a look of doubt.

Mu Yichen didn’t say anything, just followed her into the room. After Qin Mu walked in, he closed the door and leaned against it for a while before turning his head, his dark eyes fixed on the back of her head.

”I’m going to take a shower first!”

Qin Mu said softly, taking off her dress.

”Have people been seeking to terminate contracts with you lately? Why?”

Mu Yichen asked her directly, his brows still furrowed.

Qin Mu didn’t stop what she was doing, and underneath the dress was a black lingerie set, undeniably sexy.

As Mu Yichen watched her turn around, he reflexively took in the sight of her whole body, then irritably looked towards the bathroom.

Qin Mu ignored his look, only responding softly: ”After my father passed, I heard some people believed we were getting a divorce. I don’t know who spread such eye-catching rumors. They think I’ll decline after we divorce, so they choose to leave me early!”

Qin Mu chuckled bitterly after speaking, then went to the cupboard, grabbed her pajamas, and headed to the bathroom.

Frustrated, Mu Yichen lowered his head, hands on his waist, wishing he could strangle whoever spread those rumors. Who the hell said he was getting divorced?

Mu Yichen looked towards that closed door, instinctively turning around and giving the wall a hard kick.

There was a vile fire in his heart, waiting to be unleashed.

Qin Mu filled the bathtub, removed her lingerie, and gently placed it aside, stepping into the tub with her long slender legs and slowly lying down.

The hot water enveloped her, causing her to inhale sharply, but she gradually relaxed.

Mu Yichen sat at the bedside outside, head lowered, lost in thought for a long while. Qin Mu seemed like she’d gotten tired of him all of a sudden, yet he hadn’t had enough of her. There wasn’t a sound from the bathroom, but his imagination ran wild.

Later, unable to wait any longer, he took his pajamas and went outside to shower. By the time he finished and returned, Qin Mu was lying on the bed in a loose nightgown, with her phone playing a video call with Mu Qingxin.

Mu Qingxin, having heard about her father’s passing, called specifically to console her.

”You have to look ahead; parents with us and us with kids, we’re all bound to part one day.”

Five years ago, Qin Mu couldn’t have imagined Mu Qingxin, who was once so carefree, would say such words.

”Your brother is back; do you want to talk to him?”

Qin Mu lay on her stomach, arms crossed, head resting on them, unsure of what to say to Mu Qingxin. She heard Mu Yichen approaching, then asked Mu Qingxin.

”Oh! Sure! But I haven’t finished talking to you!”

Mu Qingxin agreed instinctively, realizing she hadn’t seen her brother in a long time. But Qin Mu was already resting her head and holding out the phone to Mu Yichen.

Mu Yichen took the phone and glanced while standing at the bedside: ”Why aren’t you asleep at this hour?”

”Bro! You need to show more care for your sister-in-law. Use this time to fully showcase your husbandly ability to be considerate; you must...”

Mu Yichen hung up abruptly, unable to continue listening.

He did want to show care, but his ’sister-in-law’ had to give him a chance.

”What did she say to you?”

Mu Yichen asked Qin Mu as he lifted the blanket and got into bed.

”She told me to mourn!”

Qin Mu replied sullenly, lying there.

Mu Yichen said nothing more. As he lay down, his eyes unintentionally caught sight of her freshly bathed soft skin, and suddenly his lower abdomen felt uncomfortable, making it hard to even lie down properly.

”Don’t meddle with my studio’s issues! I’ve decided to terminate contracts with them; the documents have already been printed!”

Still lying face down, Qin Mu reminded Mu Yichen not to intervene in her matters.

Listening to her weary voice, Mu Yichen stared at the ceiling and responded with a simple: ”Hmm!”

He hadn’t yet wrapped his mind around it; he didn’t understand what her intention was by not wanting him involved this time.

But at least there was one thing he could do for her—to help Qin Mingzhu buy a storefront.

Later, Qin Mu turned over, her back to him, sniffled a bit, then closed her eyes to sleep.

Her head still felt hot and swollen, like she was about to become feverish from the heat.

Mu Yichen turned to look at her at last; he feared overthinking, so he barely glanced at her. Seeing her ready for bed, he turned off the light, bringing a quiet stillness to the room.

In the middle of the night, she kicked the blanket away in the heat, and after opening her eyes in a dry throat, she struggled to sit up from the bed after fumbling with the remote to switch on the light.

The glass in the room was already empty. She looked at the empty cup on the nightstand and had no choice but to get water for herself.

Suddenly in the quiet space, a loud bang.
