His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1836: Chapter 524: Numbness

Afterwards, Qin Mu came out and glanced at Feng Fanghua discreetly, Feng Fanghua glanced at Qin Mu.

”Mom, I’m going back to my room!”

After handing her the book, Qin Mu said.

”Alright!”

Feng Fanghua nodded her head, but stood at the doorway without plans to enter, Qin Mu knew she couldn’t avoid it, so turned and went back to her room.

Mu Yichen was taking off his clothes, he didn’t look back upon hearing the door open, and his hands continued unbuttoning.

Qin Mu didn’t lift her eyes, she had showered long ago, bypassed from behind him to go to her side, sat on the edge of the bed and glanced at her phone, then got up and covered herself with the blanket, to sleep.

She lay sideways, towards the window.

Mu Yichen finished undressing and went to the bathroom, only then did Qin Mu slightly turn over, but she was still idle.

How does it feel for two people to lie on the same bed like this?

Qin Mu reached out and touched her chest, feeling somewhat cold, was it numb?

Or was it heartlessness?

Later, Mu Yichen lay behind her, she pretended to be asleep, after he turned off the light, Qin Mu couldn’t help but open her eyes again.

She couldn’t know the feelings her father experienced at the moment of the explosion.

Qin Mu felt the pillow gradually being moistened by tears, quietly.

She couldn’t figure it out, surely Qin Haiming could feel it in the end, but it was too late; nothing was useful anymore.

Their father-daughter relationship destined for so many regrets.

Now, her mind was filled with the image of him smiling at her, so kind, so regretful, so wanting to care, yet helpless due to her indifference.

Qin Mu bit her lip hard, afraid of sobbing aloud.

She didn’t know if the person behind had fallen asleep, she couldn’t connect with him, because it felt like her thoughts had scattered with Qin Haiming’s passing.

She slowly closed her eyes, her lashes were also wet.

Mu Yichen lay beside her, staring at the ceiling, his dark eyes clearly visible in the dimness.

He couldn’t utter a single word of comfort, because she didn’t need it.

Even the embrace, it seemed he had suddenly lost the right.

When her mother left, he was so unwaveringly by her side, accompanying her through so many long years.

But when her father passed, he felt like the culprit.

The night grew darker, until the middle of the night, the wind gradually turned cool, the room seemed colder, she unconsciously turned over, seeking a warm embrace in her light sleep.

Mu Yichen half lay in bed, seemingly prepared for this moment.

He just watched quietly as she nestled into his arms without touching her.

Only when she’s asleep will she be honest.

He could only watch her, let her remain unaware.

He wanted to gently brush the corners of her eyes, dry her damp corners, warm her, wanted to stroke her cheeks, softly kiss her lips, tell her he’s sorry, but he couldn’t utter it, because time couldn’t rewind, Qin Haiming was truly gone.

He wanted to hold her tightly, but feared waking her, making her flee suddenly.

That’s the thing she’s best at, fleeing.

In the morning, the sunlight quietly shone into the room, the curtains were unknowingly opened, when Qin Mu opened her eyes, he was already gone from beside her, but upon slight movement, she realized her hand was draped over his pillow.

This position, this feeling, last night afterward, it must have been in his arms, sleeping?

Qin Mu opened her eyes suddenly, again subconsciously touched his now cold pillow, her heart, empty.

Yet the sun was already shining like that, she couldn’t justify staying in bed any longer.

”Mommy! It’s time for breakfast!”

Huanhuan pushed open their bedroom door and ran in, effortlessly onto their bed, lay beside Qin Mu and spoke.

”Okay! Where’s your dad?”

”Dad went to work! He told me to wake you for breakfast!”

Huanhuan lay there talking to Qin Mu, reached out and touched Qin Mu’s warm face, then lightly kissed her forehead.

”Dad went to work so early, surely he didn’t kiss you, I’ll kiss you for him.”

Huanhuan said after kissing.

Qin Mu looked at the clever little girl in front of her, couldn’t help but laugh, raised her hand to gently stroke Huanhuan’s little braid.

Actually, when Mu Yichen got up, he had quietly kissed her long ago.

If he didn’t kiss her, he simply couldn’t leave.

Qin Mu didn’t linger in bed, after eating, she greeted the elders and went to the studio.

Feng Fanghua sighed slightly worried, and said to Mu Zihao: ”This girl is really unreasonable!”

”Give her some time, she’ll be better after a while.”

Mu Zihao comforted Feng Fanghua, Feng Fanghua also thought that after a while, once Qin Mu wasn’t so upset, she and her beloved son could return to a normal life, although when those two were lovey-dovey it looked annoying, seeing them avoiding each other like that, not even talking at home, she felt uneasy.

——

Qin Mingzhu habitually went to the studio to find her, Qin Mu was in a meeting, occasionally glanced towards the guest area sofa, Qin Mingzhu was seriously reading one of their studio’s fashion magazines.

As expected by Qin Mu, today again, someone came to discuss terminating a contract.

Qin Mu had just finished the meeting and was about to go upstairs when Yanzi called her, she turned her head just in time to see a partner walk in, Qin Mu had to gather herself, smiling to exchange pleasantries.

Just as she sat down for a few minutes...

”I’m very sorry, my wife was diagnosed with leukemia this year, I really don’t have the energy to continue doing this, so, can we resume cooperation once I get through this hard time?”

Qin Mingzhu sat nearby listening, her brows furrowed tightly, almost unable to hold back her insults.

”I will have someone prepare the termination contract, since you’re taking care of your wife, I won’t say much more, let’s proceed according to the terms in our contract!”

Qin Mu deliberated, then replied.

Qin Mingzhu looked at Qin Mu in surprise, wondering how Qin Mu could be so composed.

”Alright! Regarding the penalty fees, could you possibly...”

”I can’t! If you must terminate the contract, we’ll proceed according to the contract process, otherwise you should wait until the contract expires!”

The man hesitated to speak, but Qin Mu was decisive.

The man looked at Qin Mu, not expecting such a firm refusal, his facial expression turned awkward, but he said nothing more, nodded: ”Alright! Then call me when the termination contract is ready, I have other business so I’ll take my leave for now!”

After listening, Qin Mu slightly lowered her gaze, only after the man left did she lean back against the sofa unhappily.

”Just because the wife has a terminal illness, should the company simply close down?”

”This man divorced his wife three years ago, he only has a lover now, where does the wife come from?”

Coincidentally, Qin Mu, through Rongcheng’s Cheongsam Association, got to know his wife.

”Huh?”

”Is there really such a thing?”

Qin Mingzhu was shocked and Xiaomei, who had just arrived, was also surprised and angry, were there really such shameless people in this world? To justify breaking the contract with their studio, they could even say such hypocritical words.

In the afternoon, Tan Yiwen came to the studio, handed the prepared termination contract to Qin Mu, Qin Mu carefully reviewed it, then gratefully thanked him: ”I heard you’ve had great success in your hometown, I wish you continued progress.”

”Alright!”

Tan Yiwen nodded, arranged a meeting with her for the end of the month to sign the termination contract with those bosses, then left.

Qin Mingzhu emerged from Qin Mu’s rest area, watched Tan Yiwen walk downstairs and then walked to Qin Mu’s office: ”Was that handsome guy your new lawyer just now?”

”Sort of! What’s up?”

Qin Mu lifted her eyes, seeing Qin Mingzhu’s bright eyes, curiously asked.

”Nothing, just wondering, does brother-in-law know? If he does, wouldn’t he be jealous?”
