His Beloved Treasure

Chapter 1827: Chapter 521: Bittersweet Sensation (Part 2)

Zhang Hongyun was worried that not knowing anyone at the hospital would cause problems, so she asked Fan Qing to call Tan Yiwen: ”It seems he has sued a hospital leader before. Get him to come over.”

Fan Qing didn’t argue with her and called Tan Yiwen, but she couldn’t understand it: Zhang Hongyun had cursed Tan Yiwen a few days ago. What did Zhang Hongyun really think of him? A childhood friend? A backup? Or a servant of her family?

When Tan Yiwen arrived at the hospital, he saw Fan Qing sitting alone outside. He knew Zhang Hongyun must have gone for treatment already and felt somewhat relaxed, slowing his pace.

Fan Qing looked up, and not far off in the corridor was his silhouette. She slowly stood up, holding her canvas bag tightly.

”Are you okay?”

Tan Yiwen asked.

”I wasn’t the one who got burned!”

She whispered, thinking he hadn’t heard what she said on the phone clearly.

”I know!”

Tan Yiwen replied calmly.

Fan Qing looked at him in surprise, and he sighed softly, thinking they had stopped contacting each other.

”You guys...”

”Why are you only showing up now?”

Zhang Hongyun, clutching her face that seemed to resemble a pig’s behind, noticed Tan Yiwen as soon as she walked out and became unhappy. She had just been reprimanded by the doctor for insisting on using connections and distrusting the medical ethics of the doctors.

”Doctor, is she alright?”

Tan Yiwen couldn’t be bothered talking to Zhang Hongyun. Having understood her mindset, he’d long since given up on her, and then turned to the doctor who emerged behind Zhang Hongyun.

”She just got scalded. Nothing serious. Although the burn is slightly severe, it might peel in a few days. I’ve explained all the precautions to her.”

The doctor finished speaking and left.

Upon hearing that, Zhang Hongyun suddenly felt extremely wronged, glaring fiercely at Tan Yiwen before bypassing him and striding ahead.

”Hongyun...”

Fan Qing called out worriedly, a reflex action.

Yet, as she was about to chase after Zhang Hongyun, her wrist was suddenly grabbed, causing a jolt in her heart. She turned back to look at him in puzzlement, feeling as if her heart would leap out.

He actually grabbed her wrist.

”Forget about her! You guys came in one car?”

”Yeah! I drove us here.”

Fan Qing replied.

”Give her the keys, and I’ll drive you home!”

But shouldn’t the injured person be the one to be driven home?

Fan Qing didn’t question him; she merely walked out with him. Zhang Hongyun was standing at the entrance waiting for her, and although Tan Yiwen had released Fan Qing, Zhang Hongyun still felt uncomfortable looking at them.

”Fan Qing, drive me home.”

”Oh, okay!”

Fan Qing was taken aback, thinking she had just agreed with Tan Yiwen to give Zhang Hongyun the keys, but reflexively answered Zhang Hongyun instead.

Tan Yiwen pulled Fan Qing back and whispered, ”Keys!”

Tan Yiwen extended his hand for the keys. Fan Qing glanced at him and then reached into her bag to retrieve them.

Tan Yiwen released her, then stepped forward and handed the keys to Zhang Hongyun without touching her hand: ”Drive yourself back! Fan Qing will return for the car tomorrow.”

Zhang Hongyun instinctively reached out for the keys he threw over, bewildered.

”Let’s go!”

Tan Yiwen took Fan Qing’s hand and led her to his BMW.

Zhang Hongyun’s jaw almost dropped to the floor in shock; she, the injured one, left at the hospital entrance, while the two of them—why were they holding hands?

Just that day she had made Fan Qing swear not to be with Tan Yiwen. Had Fan Qing gone mad?

As for Tan Yiwen, why would he favor Fan Qing over her, such a gorgeous woman?

No! This is impossible! She won’t allow it!

Zhang Hongyun nearly lost her mind on the way back. Her phone bombarded Fan Qing’s with calls until it shut off. Helpless, Fan Qing glanced at Tan Yiwen: ”If you’re busy, you don’t need to bother with me!”

”So late, you want me to leave you alone?”

He glanced at her and only asked that.

Fan Qing didn’t understand why, but his demeanor towards her left her at a loss.

Tan Yiwen didn’t say much else, just drove her home.

Fan Qing now lived in an area somewhat far from the city; Tan Yiwen’s car parked at the entrance of her worn-down building. He couldn’t help but frown: ”How long do you plan to live here?”

”For now. My boss just made me permanent, so my salary has increased a bit. I’m used to it. The commute is long, but it often sparks inspiration.”

Fan Qing replied with a smile.

Tan Yiwen fell silent again, his hand resting lightly on the steering wheel, gazing at the lights outside.

So many people lived here; it wouldn’t be right to be fussy, but now he had the means...

However, given their relationship, he felt it inappropriate, so he remained quiet.

”Don’t worry; my neighbors are a young couple. They even make soup and bring it to me. The people here are great.”

Fan Qing turned to him and said.

He nodded.

”I’ll head up now. You should get back early too. If you remember, let me know that you’re safe.”

She opened the car door, saying before getting out.

Outside, the breeze was warm, almost cooked, but her mood wasn’t affected by the temperature. To be precise, Fan Qing’s mood was mixed—both cold and warm.

As Tan Yiwen drove away, she turned and headed upstairs. Though the corridor was a bit dark, she was used to it.

Her father later remarried, ignoring her afterward. Her mother had some bad habits. During their divorce, the compensation for emotional distress wasn’t enough for her mother’s antics, so she became self-reliant, gradually learning to be frugal.

But tonight, Tan Yiwen made her feel confused; she couldn’t grasp his thoughts, yet his words deeply etched into her mind, enough to ponder over them for the whole night or perhaps even longer.

——

After dinner, Helian Hao walked back with Jing Feng and texted Qin Mu. She thought deeply but decided not to inform Qin Mu about it yet, only asking if she’d had dinner.

By then, Qin Mu had dined and was accompanying Huanhuan to sleep. Huanhuan suddenly said she wanted company, and Qin Mu didn’t want to face Mu Yichen in the bedroom, so she joined Huanhuan in bed.

Huanhuan bombarded Qin Mu with many questions about Qin Haiming, leaving her speechless, until Huanhuan finally fell asleep, and Qin Mu’s hand remained softly patting her back.

The room was so quiet that it stifled her breathing, sometimes making her eyes feel uncomfortably dry. This summer wasn’t exactly dry, but today felt incredibly so.

The weather had been surprisingly good these past days, but her father had left. Qin Mu couldn’t fathom if this was a cruel joke from fate, and whether he’d return in a few days.

Qin Mu tried to sleep, but gradually she sensed some movement near the door, forcing her to open her eyes that had just been shut.

It was so quiet that no one knew she was awake, and the lights were already off.

Mu Yichen quietly opened the door, though the room was dark, he found his daughter’s bed quickly and stood by it in silence.

She had given him the cold shoulder during dinner, and he had hoped to get her talking while they lay in bed together. Yet after dinner, Huanhuan clung to Qin Mu and asked her to sleep beside her.

Mu Yichen felt helpless, nearly feeling life was hopeless watching Qin Mu carry Huanhuan upstairs.

Now Huanhuan was asleep. Normally, he’d stealthily carry her back to his room.

Qin Mu sensed his approach, her hand under the pillow clenching involuntarily.
