Chapter 388: Chapter 385: Man or Ghost?

There’s still one day left until the artifact exhibition in Shanghai City. Everyone is getting restless for these invaluable artifacts.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai police haven’t been idle either. They’ve cast a wide net near the exhibition venue, detaining no less than twenty suspicious characters.

However, Xiao Tian didn’t care much about this. True experts planning to steal the artifacts wouldn’t get caught so easily, would they? They usually lurk nearby, revealing themselves only at the moment of action. As for those who got caught so far, they’re just small fry.

Xiao Tian’s instincts are very sharp. He can sense that these days, undercurrents are stirring beneath the surface in Shanghai. Even the seemingly calm air is tinged with the scent of gunpowder.

And tomorrow’s exhibition might just be the spark that ignites it all!

That noon, Xiao Tian went to the West Bureau as usual. The moment he stepped in, he could clearly sense an unusual atmosphere in the room. Some people were pacing back and forth. Seeing this, Xiao Tian quickly walked over and asked, ”What’s going on?”

One of the policemen, upon seeing Xiao Tian, immediately rushed over with a face filled with anger, as if seeing the backbone he needed. ”Tian! Meng is injured!”

Xiao Tian frowned, ”What happened?”

The policeman, extremely angry, said, ”In the morning, we went to assist the British side in protecting the artifacts. Clearly, they look down on us and tried every possible way to make things difficult. Later, Meng got angry and started a fight with them.”

By this point, the policeman was clenching his fists tightly, his face tense, ”In the end, that lowlife Kings couldn’t beat Meng, and actually attacked him with a knife! Meng got stabbed and is still in the hospital!”

”What?” Xiao Tian’s expression turned cold upon hearing this.

Why hadn’t he heard anything about this? And why didn’t Wang Meng call him to help protect the artifacts?

At that moment, Xiao Tian didn’t hesitate, directly asking, ”Which hospital? Take me there!”

-----

Half an hour later, the policeman led Xiao Tian to Wang Meng’s ward at the city center hospital. Opening the door, they found Wang Meng lying on the hospital bed with a few of his subordinate policemen accompanying him.

Seeing Xiao Tian arrive, several policemen greeted him and came over.

”Tian!”

After Xiao Tian joined the West Bureau, he had numerous achievements with extraordinary methods, so the policemen admired him from their hearts. That cry of ”Tian” was truly sincere.

Xiao Tian nodded and walked over to check Wang Meng’s injuries. When he saw Wang Meng’s torso wrapped in bandages, his breath weak, Xiao Tian’s expression grew increasingly cold.

Wang Meng had been stabbed in the chest. Any slight deviation would have cost Wang Meng his life! Clearly, the attacker showed no mercy towards him!

Xiao Tian suddenly asked in a low voice, ”Why didn’t you call me when you went to protect the artifacts?”

”It was Meng’s arrangement... Meng said not to call you,” said a policeman standing by the bedside.

”What?”

Another policeman nearby sighed and explained, ”Meng said, you have a fiery temper and aren’t accustomed to bowing to others. So he planned for a few of us to bear it instead!”

Hearing that, Xiao Tian couldn’t help but feel a pang of emotion in his nose.

After listening to the details of the fight between Wang Meng and Kings, Xiao Tian’s expression grew even colder, a hint of killing intent emerging.

A moment later, Xiao Tian turned around and walked away slowly. The policemen behind him hurriedly asked, ”Tian, where are you going?”

”To kill someone,” Xiao Tian replied indifferently.

----

In the afternoon.

At the artifact storage warehouse in Shanghai City, several British agents were discussing the incident from the morning.

They were gathered around the warehouse entrance, drinking French beer and laughing, ”Haha, did you see that stupid Huaxia person getting stabbed by Deputy Captain Kings?”

Tom, one of the British agents, fawned, ”Captain Kings is unbeatable, what can a Huaxia person do??”

Sitting in the center, Kings laughed proudly, clearly enjoying the attention. He then said coldly, ”Heh, that guy was lucky to survive after I stabbed him!”

”Haha, come on, drink, drink!”

The group of agents continued drinking.

”Hey! You Huaxia person, this is a restricted area. You’re not allowed to enter!”

While the British agents were drinking and eating, something was happening at the warehouse entrance.

A Huaxia man with a cold gaze was walking directly toward the warehouse.

Several young British agents at the entrance moved at once, surrounding Xiao Tian, numbering over a dozen people in total.

One of the British agents issued another warning, ”Huaxia person, we hope you don’t make us remind you a second time! This is a restricted area. If you proceed, we have the right to detain you or even open fire!”

Xiao Tian seemed not to hear them, directly saying coldly, ”I’m here for someone named Kings. Where is he?”

”Deputy Captain Kings?”

Upon hearing Xiao Tian mention Kings, the surrounding agents thought Xiao Tian might be an acquaintance of Kings. They asked, ”Captain Kings is in the courtyard having a meal. Are you a friend of his? Do you have business with him?”

Xiao Tian, looking stern, shook his head and said in perfectly fluent English,

”No, I’m here to take his life.”

Having said that, Xiao Tian ignored the line of agents before him and moved toward the courtyard of the warehouse.

”Damn, he’s here to cause trouble. Detain him!!”

Seeing Xiao Tian attempting to break through, the agents shouted, quickly charging at him to form a human wall, apparently intending to completely block Xiao Tian’s path.

However, Xiao Tian moved swiftly like a ghost. With a flash, he passed through the line of agents, turning around to deliver a fierce kick. The row of people in front of him was immediately knocked down.

”Move again and I’ll shoot!!!”

Seeing Xiao Tian take down so many agents with a single strike, a few agents pulled out their guns, aiming at Xiao Tian’s back.

Yet Xiao Tian remained silent, his pace undeterred, sprinting toward the courtyard.

”Open fire!”

Despite repeated warnings, Xiao Tian didn’t pause, and eventually, some agents didn’t hesitate any longer, pulling their triggers.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Countless bullets, like a storm, rained down, sweeping toward him in a haze of smoke and sparks.

The endless bullets aimed at Xiao Tian’s back swept towards him, but unexpectedly, Xiao Tian suddenly changed his pace, his figure flashing rapidly. Almost like teleporting, he dodged all the bullets with ease.

In less than ten seconds, Xiao Tian had completely vanished from the sight of the young agents.

”What?? Is this... a human or a ghost?” Several agents were shocked by Xiao Tian’s wind-like movement.

When the bullets couldn’t even stop Xiao Tian, the agents were stupefied, as the scene was too unbelievable.
