Chapter 357: Chapter 355: Mutation

Primitive forest, the sunset is as red as blood. It dyes the forest’s fog in red, as if shrouded in a blood mist. Illusory and strange.

Xiao Tian and Melinda were swiftly moving through the primitive forest at this moment. Relying on a faint energy, Xiao Tian was constantly trying to locate the source of this energy.

Because he knew that the source of this energy might very well be the secret of the entire forest. And there, he might also find traces of Liu Hanyan.

However, Xiao Tian could sense that the energy was extremely faint. Clearly, it was far from them, so the two didn’t hesitate much, replenished their energy, and proceeded quickly.

Lightly stepping on the ground, the two headed deeper into the forest.

This journey continued for roughly two hours. By now the sky had turned somewhat dim, and as they went deeper, the surrounding white mist thickened increasingly.

During their journey, Xiao Tian suddenly noticed that Melinda’s steps were unsteady, her expression was unfocused. Her breath was weak and chaotic.

”What’s wrong?” Xiao Tian asked upon seeing Melinda’s abnormal state.

Melinda’s breath was rapid as they progressed deeper. Her complexion worsened, she leaned against a big tree nearby and softly said, ”I feel dizzy, my limbs are weak...”

”Dizzy?”

Hearing this, Xiao Tian approached Melinda, immediately sensing an ominous energy emanating from her.

This energy was identical to that within the previous beasts! Xiao Tian assessed the thick mist around them, then said seriously, ”It should be due to the surrounding mist. The unusual energy from the mist has invaded your body.”

”What?” Upon hearing Xiao Tian’s words, Melinda’s expression turned quite uneasy. She hurriedly asked, ”What should I do? Will I turn into a lunatic like the legends say?”

Xiao Tian approached Melinda and gently held her arm.

”So hot...” Feeling Melinda’s temperature, Xiao Tian murmured in surprise, at the same time he could also sense through her pulse that the turbulent energy was rampaging within Melinda.

”Cough...”

Under the corrosion of the turbulent energy, Melinda painfully collapsed to the ground. Her face turned pale, clearly she was very uncomfortable.

Xiao Tian frowned tightly, thinking internally, ”If the turbulent energy isn’t stopped, it threatens her life.”

Then, Xiao Tian directly placed his palm on Melinda’s pale neck. Upon seeing him act, Melinda weakly asked, ”Are you... saving me?”

”Don’t talk.” Xiao Tian replied.

Saying this, Xiao Tian rapidly activated Iron Chain Cross River, channeling his inner qi into Melinda’s body. At this moment, Xiao Tian’s inner qi was like a car with the accelerator jammed, rampaging inside Melinda, expelling the turbulent power residing within her.

Though Xiao Tian suspected Melinda had ulterior motives for approaching him, faced with a living person in distress before him, Xiao Tian ultimately found himself unable to abandon her.

Xiao Tian closed his eyes tightly, purging the turbulent energy in Melinda’s body, without daring to make the slightest mistake, because Xiao Tian’s inner qi did not belong to Melinda, and any error could jeopardize both their lives.

Aside from the occasional beast’s howl far away, it was exceptionally quiet around them. Under Xiao Tian’s efforts, Melinda’s breath finally stabilized.

”Thank you.” Melinda expressed her gratitude. Xiao Tian’s willingness to rescue indeed touched her.

However, what Melinda didn’t know was that although Xiao Tian expelled the turbulent energy from her body, some of it had already impacted her mind.

----

Night fell. Xiao Tian and Melinda camped nearby.

Due to the darkness, the fog made the surrounding visibility extremely low, hindering their advancement. Plus, Melinda’s health needed recovery, leading them to choose resting in place and continuing their journey the next day.

Xiao Tian leaned against a big tree and quickly fell asleep. Meanwhile, Melinda lay in the grass a few meters away from Xiao Tian.

At this moment, Melinda was exceptionally clear-headed. No matter what, she couldn’t fall asleep, sensing an unusual energy surging throughout her body, like a warm current.

And her body began to tremble, as if a beast sleeping within her had awakened.

”What’s happening??”

Feeling the changes in her body, Melinda suddenly sensed something wrong, finding that she couldn’t control her body.

”Oh no, it’s the residue of that turbulent energy!” Melinda thought in shock.

She never anticipated that the residue of the turbulent energy would suddenly erupt within her body at this moment.

At this moment, the supernatural energy within Melinda’s body surged tremendously, instantaneously reaching an unbelievable level, rapidly advancing her power.

But Melinda knew that this was merely the effect of the turbulent energy. The turbulent energy would enhance her strength greatly; however, it simultaneously deprived her of control over her body!

Whoosh!

Under the influence of the turbulent energy, Melinda suddenly leaped, lightly raising her hands. Rocks and large trees around her uprooted and floated into the air.

An unprecedented thrill filled Melinda’s entire being, as if she possessed the power to control everything.

At this moment, feeling the strong supernatural energy pulsing within her, Melinda’s mind was shocked, ”Is this... the enhancement brought by the turbulent energy?”

Though Melinda’s body was out of control now, the overwhelming power inside still made her somewhat proud.

In the next instant, Melinda’s hands moved involuntarily, fiercely waving downward. An aura of control spread, and countless branches and giant rocks suspended in the air roared angrily towards Xiao Tian below.

This time, Melinda’s main objective was to seize the opportunity to assassinate Xiao Tian. Although she had hesitated before about taking action, her body was now controlled by the turbulent energy, leaving her no room for thought.

She clearly understood that with her current strength, eradicating Xiao Tian would only take a moment!

Under this power, anyone would likely be wiped out directly by her!

Numerous huge trees and rocks fell from the sky directly. Feeling the rapid approach of a violent force, Xiao Tian, who was sound asleep, abruptly woke up. As soon as he opened his eyes, he saw countless rocks and trees crashing toward him!

”What are you doing?” Upon seeing Melinda in mid-air utilizing Object Control Attack, Xiao Tian angrily shouted.
