Eternal Thief

When Marquis Kayleigh spread her abyssal law sense towards the inn, Ace also secretly used his twilight law sense, and even if Marquis Kayleigh noticed, he wasn’t worried anymore.

Furthermore, despite Marquis Kayleigh locking down the entire space around them, Ace found that his abilities weren’t restricted at all, and Marquis Kayleigh also noticed.

However, when she heard the Scamp Gang ’chattering’, her attention instantly shifted, and her expression stiffened. Ace also noticed, and when he heard what they were saying, he couldn’t help but glance at Marquis Kayleigh with a strange expression.

’Those guys are…um…courageous…’ Ace lampooned, his voice barely a chuckle, as he dared not laugh, for he could already sense the terrifying killing intent emanating from Marquis Kayleigh.

At that moment, Marquis Kayleigh couldn’t suppress her fury and humiliation because she knew Ace had heard those profane words as well, and he was probably mocking her in his mind for her error, not to mention he had done what she should’ve done.

She almost missed them, and if not for Ace, she would never have figured out who the real thieves were, and the thefts would’ve continued to pile up. At that moment, if the news spread that she had detained the wrong person while ignoring the real culprits, she would have no face left.

“Scamp Gang, right!? Very Good!” Her voice rumbled with fury as she wanted to flay those idiots and execute them by slicing them bit by bit publicly.

She had already completely sealed off the Scamp Gang members’ cultivation, but she didn’t go in, not right now at least, as she glared at Ace fiercely.

A talisman appeared in her hand before it started to burn, and she coldly commanded, “I found your thieves, follow the coordinates and come here within a minute!” With her fleeting voice, the talisman burned and vanished with a dark flash.

Ace’s eyes flickered with a hint of interest when he noticed that talisman, but he didn’t have the time to inquire about it, especially under that fierce glare.

“Can I go now? After all, I’ve already cleared the misunderstanding. If you still doubt me, you can easily detect my abyssal mark on my treasure ring. I’m not with them.” Ace impassively stated that he still hoped Marquis Kayleigh would let him go without making things difficult for him.

After all, he didn’t want to start again because he knew it would be problematic to leave the Duskmire Vault again. Furthermore, once he escaped under Marquis Kayleigh’s suppression, she’ll definitely search for him, and she might even report it to the Dread Duchess.

At that time, Ace would have no choice but to keep his Avatar of Holy Twilight within his soul and wait for another chance to separate from it.

Marquis Kayleigh’s eyes narrowed as she felt an even more intense urge to torture Ace now because she felt he was mocking her. But the proof was really undeniable!

“Even if you have nothing to do with them, you are still very suspicious. Tell me who you are and which faction you belonged to. As long as you can prove your identity, and I confirm you are not a threat to the Obsidian Myriad Kingdom, I’ll let you leave.

“Furthermore, you can’t leave right now, and you need to follow me back to the Hall of Justice to recount your statement with the Scamp Gang, and I’ll also need to investigate that tavern. As long as everything fits, you are free to leave!” Marquis Kayleigh coldly stated, and her tone was irrefutable.

She has no intention of letting Ace leave without figuring out the source of her strange emotions, especially that peculiar hunger she was feeling, which seemed to be intensifying with every passing moment, not to mention she almost lost control when Ace used his Qi.

Ace sighed ruefully as he looked at Marquis Kayleigh and shook his head while lamenting, “Do you really have to make things difficult for someone like me? After all, I’m just an Abyssal Master who is passing by, minding my own business. I even helped you capture the scourge of your kingdom, yet you still are not letting me go. I wonder how Dread Duchess will feel once she learned you are treating a hero like this time!”

“Hero…heh…” Marquis Kayleigh scoffed with disdain as she pursed her lips, “You were clearly trying to do something by secretly following them while pretending to be a victim.

“Then you even pretended to be frightened by me before you realized that you had no choice and dropped your act and gave up on those petty thieves. I couldn’t help but think that you might be related to ’E.V.A’ or another independent imitator who wants easy gains.” Marquis Kayleigh coldly gave her opinion despite not being completely honest.

However, despite hiding it well, she couldn’t escape from Ace’s sharp sense. He narrowed his eyes as he questioned, “One last question, why do you seem to hate me? I mean, I’m pretty sure I haven’t seen you before, nor have I offended anyone. Can you please clear this point?”

Marquis Kayleigh’s eyes flickered with a hint of astonishment before she coldly retorted, “You are not in a position to question this marquis! And I advise you to correct your tone unless you want to suffer!”

However, despite Marquis Kayleigh’s threat, Ace suddenly chuckled with derision, making her frown.

At this moment, she sensed a powerful spiritual pressure approaching at high speed, and the other party clearly had no intention of hiding their arrival.

But Marquis Kayleigh was very familiar with this spiritual pressure, for it belonged to none other than the Black Hall Minister!

Ace also sensed it, and he knew that it was most likely Marquis Kayleigh’s men because of the talisman she had used earlier. So, he knew this was his cue to leave before someone else saw him.

With a profound look, Ace left his last words, “May we never meet again, Marquis Kayleigh!”

Marquis Kayleigh was caught off guard by Ace’s words, but she didn’t panic; instead, she was about to sneer, thinking Ace was deliberately mystifying things, when all of a sudden, Ace vanished!

Dumbfounded, Marquis Kayleigh blinked her eyes as she gazed dizzily at the spot where Ace was standing, and she even thought she was hallucinating until the Black Hall Minister arrived, easily sensing her presence.

He was already sweating and feeling afraid because he hadn’t expected Marquis Kayleigh to personally come out to search for that thief, and to make matters worse, she had even found them, which didn’t bode well for him.

However, when he saw the bewildered look on Marquis Kayleigh’s face, he was startled and called in a measured tone, “Your subordinate is here!”

Marquis Kayleigh finally snapped us out of her stupor before her expression started to warp, and killing intent gushed out from her body like a tsunami as she roared, “Find that scoundrel!”
