Eternal Thief

After Lucy announced the exchange item for the Ancient Abyssal Permit, Ace’s heart raced as he wasn’t expecting the Ebon Vein Nectar that he had been saving would be helpful like this.

However, he didn’t dare to bid recklessly despite wanting to and glanced at the Vaultkeeper, and he felt an icy glare flickering behind the latter’s hooded head.

Ace’s heart sank as he had a feeling that the Vaultkeeper wasn’t happy about this, and probed subtly, “Ahem, Sir Vaultkeeper, what do you think?”

Vaultkeeper kept his silence for a moment before he spoke coldly, “Someone has schemed against her highness, and only death can wash away their sins!”

Ace frowned as he didn’t want to hear this response the most, but he knew the Vaultkeeper was absolutely loyal to the Dread Duchess. Now that someone was using a scheming method to acquire the Dread Duchess’s prized possession, the Vaultkeeper would be furious despite the Ancient Abyssal Permit’s importance.

But the main problem was that Ace couldn’t use the Ebon Vein Nectar in front of the Vaultkeeper since it was a gift from the Dread Duchess, and the Vaultkeeper might become furious.

Moreover, Dread Duchess and Vaultkeeper might still be under the impression that he had already used it, and once they find out that he didn’t, it would be akin to showing disrespect towards the Dread Duchess.

Nonetheless, Ace still wanted that Ancient Abyssal Permit, not because of the Whispering Soul Grotto, but because of the Live Fate Map!

Ace has been analyzing every auction item with the Live Fate Map to see if he could find anything interesting and valuable to him, and he did; the Black Quartz Jar appeared as a glittering silver fate item within the Live Fate Map. Ace didn’t need to mull over it, because he knew how vital that mysterious bloodline was to him.

But when Ace saw the Ancient Abyssal Permit within the Live Fate Map, he was surprised because the dark golden arrow of the Live Fate Map, which could lead Ace to a fortune encounter that he needed the most, was pointing at the Ancient Abyssal Permit right now!

It’s been a while since Ace had chased after this compass arrow, since there was always uncertainty and danger involved in the hunt for that opportunity. Nonetheless, every time Ace had found the opportunity, it had never disappointed him and even helped him when nothing else could.

That’s why he wanted that permit, because it might be related to the current Abyss Mission Series, since it was the only thing that Ace desperately needed right now.

“I can understand your anger, sir Vaultkeeper. But the Ancient Abyssal Permit isn’t something we can ignore. You said it yourself.” Ace impassively said, “That’s why I would like to ask for her highness’ permission to use the Ebon Vein Nectar that I have been saving for my master to buy that Ancient Abyssal Permit. I hope she’ll allow it and won’t take offense.”

The Vaultkeeper’s gaze instantly fell on Ace, and a chill ran down the latter’s spine as he felt like he was gazed by a vicious predator at that moment.

But Ace didn’t back down and kept looking at the Vaultkeeper with calm resolve; he knew if he showed weakness, the Vaultkeeper might turn hostile.

Furthermore, Ace has already hinted that he was saving it for his ’master’ and not even the Dread Duchess could say anything about it unless she thought her Ebon Vein Nectar was above an Abyssal King!

After a bit of a while, Vaultkeeper finally nodded and impassively said, “Very well, I’ll contact her highness and propose what you just said.”

Without waiting for Ace’s reply, the Vaultkeeper took out a pitch-black talisman, and it instantly started to burn…

On the other hand, Lucy remained calm and composed on the stage; her smile didn’t fade at all despite knowing what she just announced could possibly get her in lots of trouble.

Nonetheless, it was a rare chance for her to sell this Ancient Abyssal Permit to an Abyssal Duke, which would increase her popularity tremendously, and even her status within her race would be evaluated.

Moreover, if it weren’t because the seller specifically wanted the Ebon Vein Nectar, Lucy would have gone to any length to contact the Enchantress Demon Duchess to tell her the news.

But Lucy couldn’t, and she didn’t dare to have another thought about this rare item because not even the Obsidian Spirit Hall dared to covet it, and they were auctioning it, which means whoever was selling it wasn’t someone to be messed with.

Now, Lucy was waiting for someone within the VIP rooms to make contact with the Dread Duchess because Obsidian Spirit Hall knew someone within the VIP Rooms would have a connection with the Dread Duchess, and they didn’t need to do anything to draw her out.

As for someone other than the Dread Duchess making an exchange, the chances of that happening were almost none because of how rare the Ebon Vein Nectar was, and even if someone by heaven-defying chance had it, they had to seek the Duchess’s permission to use it unless they wanted to offend her.

Last but not least, only the Dread Duchess was qualified to secure the Ancient Abyssal Permit because of her status and power. If someone random gets it, they’ll be only painting a massive target on their back, and they might not even be able to leave the Myriad Hollow alive!

Even the usually arrogant Young Marquis was silent at this moment as he also knew this wasn’t an item he could acquire even if his father were here, and all he could do was to send a message like everyone else and keep their mouth shut.

Seconds turn into minutes as no one spoke, but no one left either, since they all wanted to see if the Dread Duchess would show herself or not.

But something completely unexpected happened at this moment, as a voice suddenly rang in the silent hall, drawing everyone’s attention.

“I’m willing to trade one cup of Ebon Vein Nectar personally brewed by the Dread Duchess for the Ancient Abyssal Permit!”

Lucy was startled, like everyone else, as they looked towards the source of this voice collectively and were shocked because this voice belonged to the VIP Room 1!
