Eternal Thief

Ace suddenly shuddered when he heard that mysterious voice, and he knew whoever had just spoken wasn’t ordinary. Moreover, this person just used the title of ’King’, which has already sent chills down his spine.

The only rational decision in this scenario was to flee. Ace did precisely that. He tried to exit the World Space Ring, but the tower interfered again.

Ace wanted to curse, but he didn’t have it as he turned into a blur and headed towards the exit to the seventh floor. He knew as long as he exited this tower, he’d be able to escape.

“Tsk, youngsters these days have no respect for their elders…” The voice sounded again with a hint of amusement.

The next moment, a blurry, gray hand suddenly rushed out of the open door on the eighth floor, its speed terrifying as it instantly approached Ace’s retreating figure.

Ace’s heart palpitated, and without hesitation, he summoned all of his thief symbol abilities. Just when the hand was about to grab Ace, his figure turned pitch black before it vanished like a ghost.

“What?!” The voice was startled because it suddenly lost all traces of Ace.

However, it seemed to be extremely unwilling to let Ace go, and the next moment, a gray mist started to seep out from every cage within the tower prison and soon enveloped the entire tower.

The listless prisoners suddenly trembled as their eyes turned completely dark gray. Yet, there were still no traces of Ace.

“Interesting…who could this human be? Not only did he enter the World Space, but he also completely altered the master locks on my tower. Has something happened to the Grand Wealth Lord, or is he playing tricks to renegade from our deal?

“I still can’t leave this altar yet, and I need new sacrifices. How troublesome…since this human managed to enter here, he should’ve already seen all the treasures inside my World Space Ring.

“Even if he had somehow obtained the ownership of the World Space Ring, as long as I’m here, he won’t be able to take anything out of here unless…” The eerie voice smirked with a hint of disdain as if everything was under its control, and it wasn’t worried about Ace not coming back.

The next moment, a mystical formation suddenly lit up around the entire tower prison, and a gray fog started to cover the entire World Space. Soon, the lush lands of the World Space were shrouded in gray, like a ghostly landscape.

Outside the World Space, the small golden glyph within Ace’s cultivation chamber suddenly twisted, and the next moment, Ace appeared right where the golden glyph was.

Ace quickly canceled the summoning abilities, but his eyes were filled with lingering fear. He almost got captured, and he knew if it wasn’t for his decisive decision to use the thief symbol’s summoning abilities, he wouldn’t be able to escape.

After calming down his nerves, Ace’s expression turned extremely ugly when he prob the World Space and saw the gray fog covering the entire space. He instantly noticed that he couldn’t retrieve anything from the inside because of the gray fog’s interference.

“System! What kind of monster is hiding in this ring, and why wasn’t I told beforehand?!” Ace quickly questioned the system, wanting an explanation.

“[The system isn’t at fault for Hose own negligent.]”

Ace’s expression fell when he heard the system’s emotionless rebuttal, and he wanted to curse but suppressed his anger since the system’s words were right.

After all, he should’ve been more careful with the treasures that can contain living beings, especially treasures like the World Space Ring.

“Then can you ’please’ explain what is hiding in that tower?” Ace asked with a stern expression, “And why can’t I take anything out of my own damn space treasure?”

Before, Ace was extremely excited when he saw the world space filled with precious treasures. However, now he didn’t even dare to go inside, and what made him furious even more was that this was his own ’hard-earned’ treasure!

Right now, Ace was like a bagger who was sitting on a gold mountain, but he couldn’t use them, which vexed him to no end.

At this moment, the system finally reveals crucial information, putting Ace out of his misery.

“[The cultivator within the top floor of the Upper Ascension Grade-8 Tower is an Ascension King’s Soul belonged to the Ghost Race. That Ascension King has also used a secret method to amalgamate his soul with the Treasure Spirit of a Lower Ascension Grade-9 Spiritual Formation called the ’Heavenly Ghost Formation!]

“[Right now, the Ascension King has activated the Heavenly Ghost Formation and covered the entire World Space, sealing it so no one can take anything out of it, but you can still send things inside.]

“[Moreover, if the host entered the World Space now, you’ll be trapped by the Heavenly Ghost Formation, and the Ascension Lord Realm Ghost Soldiers might also attack you.]

“[Unless the Host’s cultivation realm breaks into the realm of Ascension Grand Lord, you won’t be able to break past the Heavenly Ghost Formation’s barrier. Or you can also use other methods to take things out of it.]”

Ace was flabbergasted when he heard the secret of that tower prison, and the presence of an Ascension King’s soul made Ace’s heart palpitate as he knew he was extremely lucky just now to escape.

Furthermore, the presence of an Ascension Grade-9 Spiritual Formation was extremely worrisome. After all, this was the highest-grade formation of the Mortal Ascension Heaven, not to mention it was a Spiritual Formation with a Treasure Spirit.

“Wait, so Ghosts are real, and they can even cultivate?” This realization made Ace’s heart race since he had a childhood trauma about ghosts. “

Moreover, you just said there is only a ’Soul’ of the Ascension King, which means he didn’t have his body? So, he’s possessing the Spiritual Formation like an actual ghost?”Ace questioned gloomily as things weren’t looking good for him, and this Ghost Race made him apprehensive.

Moreover, Ace now had many questions about how the Grand Wealth Lord obtained the World Space Ring, and it clearly didn’t seem to belong to the PHW King Sect, or it was some secret of the King Sect.

However, after witnessing the characters of both Mother and Son, Ace knew the origin of this World Space Ring was not as simple as it seemed. The soul of the Ascension King might’ve tricked the Grand Wealth Lord, or they were probably in a mutual relationship.

“[Ghost Race are actually cultivators who had abandoned their bodies and walked the Ghost Path, one of the most powerful heterodox paths. Ghost Cultivators purely cultivate their souls with Ghost Cultivation Techniques and turn themselves into Ghost Race, abandoning their races, bloodlines, and everything with almost endless life.]

“[For Ghost Race, physical entities are nothing but shells for possession, and souls are medicine. Ghost Race has both advantages and disadvantages like they are extremely afraid of pure elements like Life, Light, Lightning, Yang…and Spirit Fires are especially their bane.]

“[But they can’t absorb spirit Qi or use Spiritual Treasures like Pills or Herbs unless they belonged to the elements like Ice, Dark, Yin, Blood…which also made them stronger and almost had no effect against them. This is all the information the Host can gain access to with his current authority.]

“[As for the Ascension King within the World Space Ring, he has already reached the realm of Ghost King, but he was probably gravely wounded and forced to merge with the treasure spirit to preserve his life.]

“[Now, with the Heavenly Ghost Formation, he’s recovering his soul, and once he fully recovers, he will regain all his powers. Right now, he only 35% recovered. However, he needs powerful souls or soul-type treasures to heal, and everything else in the World Space is useless to him.]

“[But he’s using the spirit nectar pool to operate the Heavenly Ghost Formation, and he can last for a very, very long time if he only maintains that barrier!]”

Ace’s expressions were colorful at this moment, especially when he heard the last part. But he was helpless against that Ghost King; no matter what trick he had, they wouldn’t work against him at his current level.

However, he has also learned about the Ghost Race and their weakness, which was quite enlightening. At least, now he knew Ghosts were real, and they were even more terrifying than the stories.

’Well, the only saving grace is that guy is wounded, and I also know why those prisoners met their miserable fate. He was probably alarmed by my unexpected visit, and he intended to turn me into his puppet to gather more souls for him. The Grand Wealth Lord was probably the same…’

Ace pursed his lips, ’But it won’t change the fact that he’s currently keeping all those treasures to himself despite not being able to use them!’

“Is there any way I can drive him away with that tower? I’m willing to pay with TP!” Ace decided to bribe the system to help him.

“[Host already has a way!]”

“Huh?” Ace was astounded!
