Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 185: Chapter 185: Shakedown

The old man’s statement meant that the Wang Family was compromising. The fact that Lin Yun had killed nine of their Qi Sea Realm guards and severely injured the old man’s son would be forgotten, and they would not seek trouble with him in the future.

As the strongest expert of the Wang Family, the old man had made a significant concession. Any normal person would have been satisfied and agreed to these terms, but Lin Yun didn’t see it that way.

’Killed nine of your Wang Family’s Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists? That’s because they were trying to kill me. The same goes for your son. And now I’m the one who’s severely injured, and you think you can send me away without any compensation?’

The old man’s name was Wang Yi, and Wangcai’s father was Wang Tianwen. When Lin Yun remained silent for a long moment, they both looked at him strangely. Wang Yi had already made such a concession; could Lin Yun possibly still be unsatisfied?

Sure enough, his expression unchanging, Lin Yun spoke slowly. ”I think you have it backward. I only killed your Wang Family guards in self-defense. Now, I’m the one who’s been severely injured by your family. Do you really think you can resolve this by just saying ’let bygones be bygones’?”

This was blatant extortion! Wang Yi, Wang Tianwen, and even Wangcai had never imagined that after Wang Yi had already backed down, Lin Yun would actually have the gall to shake them down.

”You...” Hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Wang Yi’s face. ’This kid is completely ungrateful!’

’You’re not crippled, and you’re not dead! On the other hand, my Wang Family has lost nine Qi Sea Realm guards and dozens of Opening Realm guards. Wang Tianwu is severely injured and unconscious. And you have the nerve to demand compensation from me?’

”You what? Are you saying the Wang Family doesn’t have to be reasonable? If your family doesn’t give me a satisfactory explanation for what happened today, I’ll have no choice but to report this to my master and let him seek justice for me.” Lin Yun faced Wang Yi without a hint of fear.

He was once again using a powerful name to bluff his way through. Back in the Mysterious City, he had done the same thing with Ye Yunlong. When it came to this tactic, Lin Yun was a seasoned pro.

Hearing Lin Yun bring up Zhong Lin, Wang Yi’s expression grew even darker. However, his reason told him that he had to endure. Zhong Lin was not someone the Wang Family could afford to antagonize.

Taking a few deep breaths, Wang Yi found that in the face of Lin Yun, even his well-tempered Mental Realm was on the verge of erupting in fury. ”Kid, if that’s how it is, the Wang Family will compensate you with one Life Extending Pill.”

The Life Extending Pill was an Earth Level Three-Stars Elixir. Lin Yun already had one but had been reluctant to use it. In Wang Yi’s opinion, a single Life Extending Pill was more than enough to cover Lin Yun’s losses.

”Just one? Does the Wang Family take me for a beggar? Do you think a Disciple of the Academy’s Genius Class is so poor? Or are you looking down on my master? No. I won’t agree to a single Life Extending Pill.”

Lin Yun rejected the offer without a second thought. Logically, one Life Extending Pill was enough for his injuries, but with such a golden opportunity, how could he possibly let it pass?

”Kid, don’t push your luck.” If Lin Yun had been somewhat subtle before, he was now making it clear that this was a threat, a straight-up robbery.

The underlying message was simple: ’If you don’t pay up, you’re disrespecting Zhong Lin.’

Even though Wang Yi was a Primordial Ocean Realm expert with an incredibly resolute Mental Realm, he was thoroughly infuriated by Lin Yun. Someone actually dared to extort the Wang Family—and a mere Ninth Layer of Opening Realm kid at that.

Yet, anger was one thing; Wang Yi was still terrified of Zhong Lin. He didn’t know how much Zhong Lin valued this student. If Zhong Lin truly decided to step in for Lin Yun, the trouble would be far greater.

”Name your price. How much compensation do you want?” Wang Yi said coldly, forcibly suppressing the fire in his heart.

Hearing this, Lin Yun, who was being supported by Little Ape, pretended to ponder for a moment. Then, a long list of items and Primordial Stones poured from his lips.

”Since I’m injured, I’ll naturally need some Healing Medicine. And my injuries are quite severe, so how about we start with ten Life Extending Pills.”

”Also, compensation for my emotional distress can’t be overlooked. Let’s say one hundred thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones. And because I’m injured, I won’t be able to cultivate for the next few days, so my Cultivation will stagnate. You know how fierce the competition is in the Academy’s Genius Class. To make up for my wasted time, I’ll naturally need something to boost my Cultivation. Give me five thousand Qi Essence Pills...”

Lin Yun rattled off his demands without a shred of shame. Hearing the list of ”compensation,” Wang Yi’s old face turned ashen. ’This compensation? Who do you think you are? The Crown Prince of the Royal Family?’

”Impossible! Kid, the Wang Family will never agree to these demands!” Wang Yi roared, not even waiting for Lin Yun to finish.

How long had it been since Wang Yi had been this furious? As a Primordial Ocean Realm expert, he had long mastered the art of keeping his emotions hidden, but facing Lin Yun, Wang Yi ultimately had to suppress the rage in his heart. This guy was simply going too far!

This level of compensation... Forget Lin Yun, even if Zhong Lin himself came to ask, this would be about the most he could expect.

At this moment, it wasn’t just Wang Yi; even Wangcai was staring at Lin Yun in astonishment. In all his life, he had never seen anyone dare to extort his grandfather like this.

Even in the Capital City, Wang Yi was a titan. The princes of the Royal Family weren’t nearly as insolent as Lin Yun when they met him. After all, Wang Yi was a Primordial Ocean Realm expert, one of the most powerful people in all of Yanhuang Country.

”Kid, the most I can give you is five Life Extending Pills. Nothing else.” Wang Yi was on the verge of exploding. The feeling of wanting to strike but being unable to was driving him mad.

The most infuriating part was that the one extorting him wasn’t some Primordial Ocean Realm expert, but a mere kid at the Ninth Layer of Opening Realm. That someone he could kill with a single palm strike actually dared to shake him down—this was what enraged Wang Yi the most.

Five Life Extending Pills? Lin Yun had no intention of agreeing. ’Are you kidding me? I was almost killed. If it weren’t for my formidable Combat Power and Zhong Lin’s Forbidden Artifact, I’d be a corpse right now.’

The two went back and forth, with Wang Yi getting more and more incensed by Lin Yun. Several times, he nearly collapsed from sheer rage, only staying upright because Wang Tianwen was there to support him.

If not for Zhong Lin, there was no doubt Wang Yi would have slapped Lin Yun to death long ago. The guy was insatiably greedy, acting as if he wanted to rob the entire Wang Family blind.

In truth, this couldn’t entirely be blamed on Lin Yun. After all, the Wang Family had been the first to try to kill him. They just had the misfortune of running into a guy like Lin Yun, who would risk his life for money.

’What can I do? The resources I need for my cultivation are just too vast.’ For Lin Yun, when it came to wealth, the more the better. How could he possibly pass up such a great opportunity?

After a long round of haggling, with Wang Yi dizzy from anger and Lin Yun wearing a look of utter grievance, the two sides finally reached an agreement.

The Wang Family would compensate Lin Yun with five Life Extending Pills, twenty thousand Low Grade Primordial Stones, and one thousand Qi Essence Pills.

And even with such a generous compensation package, according to Lin Yun, he was still the one getting the short end of the stick.

When the Wang Family’s Steward brought the compensation to him, Lin Yun waved his hand, sweeping everything into his Space Ring. He then let out a helpless sigh and said, ”Ah, whatever. For Wangcai’s sake, I’ll take the loss this time.”

Hearing this and seeing the wronged expression on Lin Yun’s face, Wang Yi immediately soared into the sky and departed. He couldn’t stand to be in the presence of this scoundrel for a second longer, truly afraid he might lose control and slap him dead on the spot.
