Chapter 179: Chapter 179: Challenging the Royal Guards with a Spear

Lin Yun, waiting at the gate, saw the guard who had gone to announce him return in less than a hundred breaths. He calculated the time. ’There’s no way he had enough time to deliver the message.’

”Kid, follow me,” the guard said to Lin Yun, his tone cold.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yun showed no outward reaction and simply followed the man quietly. Inwardly, however, he was already suspicious. ’How could he possibly have delivered the message in such a short amount of time?’

Following the guard, Lin Yun was led all the way to the Wang Family’s Martial Arts Training Ground. It was a large courtyard specifically for the family’s disciples to practice their martial arts, filled with many weapons and featuring a Martial Arts Arena.

The moment he stepped into the Martial Arts Training Ground, Lin Yun understood. Wang Yun was already waiting for him. Behind him stood ten guards from the Wang Family, all of them Martial Artists at the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm, their cultivation ranging from the First to the Third Layer.

Unfazed, Lin Yun glanced at the exit of the Martial Arts Training Ground. It was also blocked by four guards, all at the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm.

It was obvious he’d been set up by Wang Yun. His gaze grew cold as he looked at Wang Yun and the youth beside him—the owner of the Golden Lion. ’He must have been staying with the Wang Family all this time.’

”Kid, you actually dared to deliver yourself to my doorstep. I’ll give you one chance. Kneel and call me ’Grandpa’ three times, and I’ll let you go,” Wang Yun said with a smug look on his face.

”Call you what?” Lin Yun asked, feigning ignorance.

”Grandpa.”

”Pah! Don’t be ridiculous. I, Lin Shan, have no such worthless grandson as you.”

Having been thoroughly mocked by Lin Yun right from the start, the smugness in Wang Yun’s heart instantly vanished, replaced by endless fury. He hadn’t expected Lin Yun to be so fearless, even while surrounded.

”Kid, you’re going to die today,” he said to Lin Yun, enunciating every syllable.

Hearing this, Lin Yun quickly prepared for battle. He had sensed something was wrong from the start, but he hadn’t expected it to be a trap set by Wang Yun. ’It seems that within the Wang Family, Wang Yun pays no mind to Wangcai at all.’

”Get him!” he roared at the ten guards behind him. Instantly, the ten Martial Artists, all in the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm, charged toward Lin Yun in unison.

Back at the Academy, Lin Yun had been able to kill two death-row inmates at the First Layer of Qi Sea Realm while he was only at the Sixth Layer of Opening. And that was even after they had consumed Blood Burning Pills. Now that he had broken through to the Ninth Layer of Opening, plus having refined his body with Demon Beast Essence Blood, his Combat Power was already more than ten times what it had been.

Facing the assault of ten Martial Artists in the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm, Lin Yun didn’t hold back. The Bone Spear instantly appeared in his hand.

With the menacing Bone Spear in hand, Lin Yun’s aura became incomparably sharp. The aura alone was enough to make the guards’ hearts seize up. ’An aura like that shouldn’t belong to an Opening Realm Martial Artist.’

”Wang Yun, you made the first move today! I’ll take these guards as interest!” Lin Yun roared at him, and then, astonishingly, launched the first attack himself.

Facing ten opponents in the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm, the first instinct of any ordinary Opening Realm Martial Artist would be to run. Even another Martial Artist at the Early Stage of the Qi Sea Realm would never have taken the initiative to attack.

In the eyes of Wang Yun and the youth, Lin Yun’s move was nothing short of a death wish. The youth beside Wang Yun sneered, ”What a reckless brute. A complete idiot.”

The youth’s words were dripping with contempt, and Wang Yun felt the exact same way. Neither of them could believe that a Martial Artist at the Ninth Layer of Opening Realm could survive an attack from ten Qi Sea Realm experts, let alone defeat them.

As Lin Yun charged into the ten-man encirclement, the Bone Spear in his hand became even more menacing. It was like a true, ferocious beast, sending a chill down the spines of all who watched.

”Red Flame Spear Technique!” He flicked the tip of his spear, unleashing the technique. He had fully grasped the True Intent of the Red Flame Spear Technique, and in his hands, it had reached its pinnacle.

In Lin Yun’s hands, the Profound Level Upper Tier Red Flame Spear Technique produced a thick, raging Flame with every thrust. In a flash, the battleground was engulfed in a blaze.

”That’s a Profound Level Upper Tier Martial Technique... He’s actually comprehended its True Intent...” the youth exclaimed in amazement.

Hearing the youth’s voice, Wang Yun’s expression darkened as well. This was far beyond what he had anticipated. Comprehending the True Intent of an entire Profound Level Upper Tier Cultivation Technique was proof enough of Lin Yun’s immense talent and powerful Combat Power.

Sure enough, under Lin Yun’s assault, the ten Qi Sea Realm Martial Artists were unable to gain the upper hand. The one-sided slaughter Wang Yun had envisioned never materialized; instead, the two sides were locked in an evenly matched struggle.

Ten of them were ganging up on a single Opening Realm Martial Artist, yet they hadn’t killed him instantly, nor had they even gained the upper hand. Instead, the fight was a stalemate. This left the ten guards feeling incredibly frustrated; it was a huge loss of face.

With the thought that Wang Yun was still watching from the sidelines, the ten men went all out. Their attacks grew increasingly fierce, and gradually, they began to gain the upper hand.

Finding himself at a disadvantage, Lin Yun made a decision. ’Even with my unparalleled Combat Power, I can’t last long against ten opponents at once. If they don’t manage to kill me outright, they’ll just wear me down.’

’I have to take out two of them first, then I can look for another opening.’

With this thought, Lin Yun’s fighting style changed completely. He locked onto a guard at the First Layer of Qi Sea Realm. With a flick of his spear tip, he thrust out with the Red Flame Spear Technique. Executing Inch Step, his body moved like a phantom, and he appeared before the guard in an instant.

Before the other nine could react, Lin Yun’s Bone Spear had already viciously pierced the man’s chest. PFFT... A mouthful of blood sprayed out as the First Layer of Qi Sea Realm guard collapsed, the life rapidly draining from his eyes.

Killing a First Layer of Qi Sea Realm expert in a mere instant left everyone stunned. However, Lin Yun gave them no time to recover. Having landed a successful blow, he immediately lunged toward another guard at the First Layer of Qi Sea Realm.

Seeing this, the others snapped back to their senses. Having learned their lesson, the remaining eight guards attacked Lin Yun with all their might. Eight attacks came hurtling toward Lin Yun from all directions.

Only two paths lay before Lin Yun now. One was to dodge, but if he did, he would lose the chance to kill his target.

The other was to take these attacks head-on and kill this First Layer of Qi Sea Realm guard, at the cost of suffering heavy injuries.

He weighed his options for a moment. His body had been greatly enhanced by the Demon Beast Essence Blood, and he was confident the eight attacks wouldn’t be enough to kill him. With his heart steeled, Lin Yun’s Bone Spear grew even sharper as he thrust it at the guard, moving forward without a shred of hesitation.

Seeing Lin Yun completely disregard the other attacks, the guard, who had been nonchalant a moment before, was instantly filled with terror. Lin Yun had just effortlessly killed his comrade; he didn’t delude himself into thinking he was any stronger than the man who had just died.

Unsurprisingly, Lin Yun’s Bone Spear plunged deep into the guard’s chest. The guard coughed up a mouthful of blood, all signs of life already gone.

And at that very moment, the eight attacks arrived. With a tremendous BOOM, all eight strikes landed squarely on Lin Yun.
