Chapter 158: Chapter 158: Fated to be Hunted

Lin Yun ran at top speed, his face grim. Pulled along by him, Chen Xin didn’t dare say another word. His earlier scolding had made her realize that her own naivety was the cause of all this.

”Brat, stop right there if you know what’s good for you! Otherwise, you’re dead today.”

”Brat, leave the woman behind, and we can let you go.”

”Stop at once, or don’t blame us for what happens next.” The three chased after them, shouting an endless stream of threats.

However, Lin Yun completely ignored their shouts, not slowing down in the slightest as he pulled Chen Xin along. But inside, he was complaining bitterly.

’What rotten fucking luck,’ Lin Yun cursed inwardly. ’Was I born to be hunted? I just left the Academy and I’m already being chased again. Shit.’

Come to think of it, how many times had he been hunted down since leaving Iron Gate Pass? So many he’d lost count. And now, right after leaving the Academy, it was happening all over again.

Cursing was one thing, but Lin Yun didn’t dare to stop for a second. Right now, he’d sooner believe a pig could fly than trust the bullshit coming from those three.

Only an idiot would believe they would actually let him go.

”I’m going to speed up,” he said to Chen Xin. Then, without waiting for her consent, Lin Yun swept her up into his arms.

Held in a man’s arms for the first time, Chen Xin knew Lin Yun was only doing it so they could escape. Still, as she leaned against his chest, her heart couldn’t help but start beating faster.

A blush appeared on her cheeks. At that moment, Chen Xin actually felt a trace of sweetness, as if she wouldn’t be in any danger as long as Lin Yun was there.

While Chen Xin was lost in the moment, Lin Yun was suffering terribly. He had thought that after using the Qingfeng Body Technique, shaking these people off wouldn’t be difficult. However, it turned out that Lin Yun had underestimated the power of the Late Stage of the Qi Sea Realm.

Although the three of them didn’t have any advanced Body Technique, they were relying on their sheer Cultivation to prevent Lin Yun from pulling away.

While Lin Yun was miserable, the three pursuers were also shocked. They were all at the Late Stage of the Qi Sea Realm, yet they couldn’t even catch someone at the Eighth Layer of Opening Realm.

”This kid’s Body Technique is superb. We need to chase with all our strength and attack whenever we get a chance,” one of them said. To catch Lin Yun now, the three of them didn’t dare hold anything back.

They nodded to each other. The Elemental Power inside their bodies began to drain as if it were free, and their speed increased once more.

’Three mad dogs. Is it worth it for one woman? Go fuck yourselves.’ Seeing the three chasing him like their lives depended on it and closing the distance step by step, Lin Yun cursed under his breath. Then he too went all out, the Elemental Power in his body surging as he pushed the Qingfeng Body Technique to its absolute limit.

In a frantic game of cat and mouse, the three attacked whenever they had the chance, making Lin Yun’s life a living hell.

After being chased for dozens of miles, Lin Yun still hadn’t shaken the trio. He had already swallowed two Qi Essence Pills, and now the meridians in his body were beginning to throb with a painful swelling.

This was because the Qi Essence Pills hadn’t been fully absorbed. Lin Yun, who normally refined one Qi Essence Pill a day, had now swallowed two in less than half an hour. He did it solely to replenish his depleted Elemental Power, but the unrefined pills were already starting to cause side effects.

’How has this guy’s Elemental Power not run dry yet?’ After chasing for so long without catching Lin Yun, their shock only grew. It wasn’t as if only Lin Yun was replenishing his Elemental Power; the three of them had also been swallowing Elixirs just to maintain their current pace.

After running for several more miles, a wide canyon suddenly appeared before Lin Yun. The chasm lay in his path like an impassable abyss, cutting off his escape route completely.

”Haha, keep running! Let’s see where you run to now.”

”Today, we’re going to tear you limb from limb.” Seeing the canyon, the three pursuers were overjoyed. Now that his path was blocked, there was no way for Lin Yun to escape.

Reaching the canyon’s edge, Lin Yun stared down into the bottomless abyss. His feeling of helplessness was magnified infinitely. Today, his luck had truly hit rock bottom.

Chen Xin, held in Lin Yun’s arms, also stared at the canyon before them, her eyes filled with deep regret. In a soft voice, she said to him, ”Lin Shan, you should hand me over to them. Maybe they’ll let you go.”

The moment she finished speaking, Lin Yun snapped, ”Shut up! I’ve never thought of saving my own skin by sacrificing a woman. Besides, do you really think they’d let me go even if I handed you over?”

Lin Yun stared intently at the canyon before him. Behind him, the three students walked toward him at a leisurely pace. Given the situation, they didn’t believe Lin Yun could possibly escape. Toying with him for a bit would be a good way to vent the anger that had been building up after chasing him for so long.

”What’s the matter? Not running anymore?”

”Haha, brat! Bet you regret it now, don’t you? We gave you a chance, but you didn’t take it. Now, it’s no use even if you get on your knees and beg.”

The three taunted him, their faces filled with triumphant glee.

After a dozen breaths of silence, a crazed look appeared on Lin Yun’s face. He looked down at Chen Xin in his arms and asked, ”Are you afraid of dying?”

”I’m not,” Chen Xin said, nodding firmly. From the look on his face, she had already guessed what he was about to do.

”You three rats! Don’t let me see you at the Academy in the future, or I’ll tear you to pieces!” he roared at them over his shoulder.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Lin Yun leaped without a moment’s hesitation, jumping straight into the canyon and plummeting toward the bottomless abyss below.

As he fell, Lin Yun carefully scanned his surroundings. This was his only hope. Staying up there meant certain death, but jumping might offer a sliver of a chance to survive. That was his reasoning.

Chen Xin, in his arms, clung to him tightly. Her eyes were closed, and a faint smile graced her lips. Perhaps in her heart, she was certain she was about to die, but to be able to die in Lin Yun’s arms was truly a happy thing.

Seeing Lin Yun jump into the canyon without a second thought, the three pursuers stood at the edge, their expressions shifting rapidly. None of them had expected this unremarkable-looking guy to be so decisive, not hesitating for even a second. It all happened so fast they didn’t even have time to stop him.

”Damn, what a waste.”

”Shame about the girl.”

”Let’s go. We need to see if those other two brats have been caught. They’re the ones who know where to find the Anti-Aging Grass.”

The three complained for a bit. Of course, they weren’t stupid enough to jump into the canyon after Lin Yun. To put it bluntly, jumping down meant a nine-in-ten chance of death, unless you were a Primordial Ocean Realm expert capable of Sky Control.

Not lingering any longer, the three left the cliff, cursing and grumbling. After chasing for so long, they hadn’t gotten a single thing to show for it, and their moods were foul. The only thing they were still thinking about was the Anti-Aging Grass that Chen Xin had mentioned.

If they could get their hands on the Anti-Aging Grass and sell it in the Capital City, the price would be anything but ordinary. After all, the noble ladies in the Capital City wouldn’t care one bit about the price of an Anti-Aging Grass, and it wasn’t like they were short on Primordial Stones.
