Chapter 170: Chapter 170: Like Rider, Like Mount

Lin Yun had arranged everything. Next, without the youth noticing a thing, the Black-striped Tiger and the Golden Lion were locked into the same stone room by the soldier.

The moment it entered the stone room, the Black-striped Tiger suddenly erupted with a terrifying Evil Qi. Without a second word, it lunged straight for the Golden Lion.

The Golden Lion never expected the Black-striped Tiger’s sudden attack. In its haste, it could only defend itself. However, the Black-striped Tiger’s massive claws had already raked viciously across its back, instantly leaving several bloody gashes.

ROAR! Howling in pain, the Golden Lion tried to fight back, but how could the Black-striped Tiger give it the chance? With a pounce of its powerful body, it pinned the Golden Lion firmly to the ground.

The Black-striped Tiger began to tear and bite relentlessly. Watching this scene, the youth outside the door was stunned. When he finally snapped out of it, he saw that his Golden Lion was on its last breath. Its continuous low growls were filled with utter terror.

”You brat! You dare to set me up?” the youth roared, pointing at Lin Yun.

It didn’t take a genius to figure out that the Black-striped Tiger’s sudden rampage was on its master Lin Yun’s command. Faced with the youth’s furious shout, Lin Yun shamelessly spread his hands. ”What does it have to do with me? It’s perfectly normal for Demon Beasts to fight. Weren’t you so confident in your Golden Lion? Are you scared now?”

Lin Yun’s words infuriated the youth, but there was nothing he could do. After all, Lin Yun hadn’t made a move himself, so a fight between Demon Beasts couldn’t be blamed on him.

He didn’t waste any more time on a pointless argument with Lin Yun. The most urgent task was to rescue his Golden Lion. From the looks of it, it wouldn’t last much longer.

”Hurry up and separate the two Demon Beasts!” the youth commanded the soldier.

”Apologies, but there are no other stone rooms available. We can’t separate them,” the soldier replied, rejecting him without a second thought.

At this point, if the youth still hadn’t realized this was all part of Lin Yun’s plan, he would have to be a true idiot.

”Brat, I’ll ask you one last time. Are you going to call it off or not?” Knowing it was Lin Yun’s doing, the youth’s focus returned to him. A fluctuation of Elemental Power began to emanate from his body, and he looked ready to fight at the slightest disagreement.

The Golden Lion had been a gift from his family. If the Black-striped Tiger killed it, and his family found out, he would surely be severely punished. It wasn’t even out of the question that he’d be expelled from the family.

The youth’s aura was oppressive, but he had clearly picked the wrong target. Lin Yun was the type who responded to kindness, not force. If you came at him hard, Lin Yun would only come back harder.

A wicked smile on his face, Lin Yun replied unhurriedly, ”You want to make a move?”

”Cut the crap! Are you stopping this or not?” The Golden Lion’s cries were growing fainter, as if it were on the verge of death. The youth couldn’t afford to care about anything else now.

”I already told you, I don’t get involved in the affairs of Demon Beasts. If you’ve got the guts, then tell your sissy lion to beat up my Black-striped Tiger. Even if it gets beaten to death, I won’t say a word. It’s just a matter of inferior skill,” Lin Yun said.

Lin Yun had made his stance perfectly clear: ’It’s impossible for me to stop this. Either you tell your Golden Lion to fight back against my Black-striped Tiger, or you just stand aside and watch quietly.’

The youth was well aware of his Golden Lion’s strength. Compared to the Black-striped Tiger, the difference wasn’t small. Moreover, from the aura of Lin Yun’s tiger, the youth had already guessed that this Black-striped Tiger had truly grown up in the wild. It was far more ferocious than his Golden Lion, and its savage nature was terrifying.

Telling his Golden Lion, which had been raised in captivity since it was a cub, to fight back against such a ferocious beast—what was the difference between that and sending it to its death?

The youth’s face had turned ashen. His Golden Lion was being beaten to a pulp on the ground, yet he couldn’t intervene himself. The rules within the Capital City were incredibly strict. Even he didn’t dare to challenge the authority of the Royal Family.

In contrast, looking at the youth’s ashen face and his hands clenched into tight fists, Lin Yun felt a surge of satisfaction. He even feigned a serious expression as he spoke.

”Someone once told me that Demon Beasts are just like people—the kind of person you are determines the kind of beast you raise. Seeing this today, I realize there’s truly some truth to that.”

”If the Demon Beast is a sissy, then its master naturally won’t be normal either. Ah... what a pity for a grown man.”

Lin Yun’s words were clearly calling the youth effeminate. Hearing this, the youth’s entire body trembled with rage. Never in his entire life had he been subjected to this kind of humiliation.

The last shred of his reason allowed him to forcibly restrain the urge to attack. Taking several deep breaths, the youth finally turned to the soldier again and asked, ”Fine, can I retrieve my beast now?”

He didn’t dare leave his Golden Lion locked up with the Black-striped Tiger any longer. But to his dismay, the soldier’s reply was just as shameless as Lin Yun’s. ”The Capital City has its rules. All stabled Demon Beasts must be kept for a minimum of three days before they can be retrieved.”

”Damn it to hell!” the youth cursed out loud. This wasn’t his first time in the Capital City. Since when was there such a rule? This was clearly a setup to screw him over.

He shot a cold glance at Lin Yun, then looked helplessly at his Golden Lion. After a brief soul transmission, the Golden Lion’s eyes filled with despair.

Because the youth had already left. He had no other choice but to abandon the Golden Lion. In any case, the Black-striped Tiger definitely wouldn’t kill it; otherwise, the compensation would be at least several million Primordial Stones.

But while it might escape death, it couldn’t escape a living hell. Watching the youth’s retreating back, Lin Yun smiled faintly. He spread his hands helplessly at the Golden Lion and said, ”Your master abandoned you. It’s true what they say: like master, like Demon Beast.”

After speaking, Lin Yun turned to the Black-striped Tiger again. ”Take good care of our friend here. Make sure it’s an experience it will never forget for the rest of its life.”

Understanding Lin Yun’s meaning, the bloodthirsty look on the Black-striped Tiger’s face intensified. The Golden Lion beneath it was now trembling uncontrollably, all of its earlier majestic presence gone.

Both were Tier Three Demon Beasts, but the Black-striped Tiger arrogantly occupied the entire stone room, while the Golden Lion could only cower in a small corner. Every now and then, the Black-striped Tiger would let out a low growl, and the Golden Lion could only respond with a fawning expression, just like a lackey.

The Golden Lion, which was all show and no substance, had been thoroughly beaten into submission by the Black-striped Tiger. Lin Yun believed that its days here would become the Golden Lion’s future nightmare. He had no doubt about the Black-striped Tiger’s brutality.

”Thanks,” Lin Yun said to the soldier after settling everything, and then left without lingering.

He started walking toward where Chen Xin and the other two were. But just as the three of them came into view, Lin Yun spotted a familiar face—it was the same youth from before.

He and another young man were standing with Chen Xin’s group. It seemed they knew each other, as Wangcai was currently talking to one of them.

However, judging by Wangcai’s expression, he seemed to be in some kind of trouble. The young man speaking to him appeared to be scolding him, and while Wangcai looked resentful, he didn’t dare to talk back.
