Divine Emperor Demon Emperor

Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Scions of the Capital City

For his journey of tempering, Lin Yun’s first destination was the Yanhuang Capital. There were many reasons for this. As a citizen of Yanhuang Country, the Capital City was a place he absolutely had to visit. Not only was it the largest city in the entire country, but it was also the city with the most Martial Artists.

Beyond that, Lin Yun also wanted to ask around about his parents. After all, it had been nearly a year, and sequestered in the Academy, Lin Yun didn’t know much about the outside world.

The Imperial City Mountain Range, where the Academy was located, wasn’t too far from the Capital City. If he traveled at full speed, he could arrive in just three days.

However, since this was a journey for experience, Lin Yun didn’t travel at full speed. Arriving a day earlier or later made little difference to him.

He ambled along, stopping here and there, feeling quite relaxed. With his current Eighth Layer of Opening Realm cultivation, he could even kill a Tier Two Demon Beast, as long as it wasn’t one of the absolute strongest of its kind.

Plus, with Little Ape by his side, Lin Yun could move through the Imperial City Mountain Range without a care in the world.

Not wearing his Academy uniform, Lin Yun strolled leisurely through the Imperial City Mountain Range with Little Ape. When he got bored, he would even hunt some Demon Beasts for food.

After two days, Lin Yun still hadn’t left the Imperial City Mountain Range, having only reached its outer periphery.

As Lin Yun was walking along, he suddenly heard the sounds of a fight up ahead. Unsure if it involved Academy students, he decided to go take a look.

Following the sounds, Lin Yun found the two parties engaged in battle. There were three human youths, about his age—two men and one woman—all dressed in lavish clothing. They looked like the children of some Noble Family.

Fighting them was a Tier Two Demon Beast. The three, who were only at the Fourth Layer of the Opening Realm, were naturally powerless against it.

By this point, the two young men were already injured. The remaining young woman was pale, clearly terrified.

ROAR... Gaining the upper hand, the Demon Beast grew even more frenzied. It swiped a claw down at the three of them. Faced with the beast’s attack, they despaired.

’Sigh... Since I’ve seen them, I might as well save their lives.’ With a sigh, Lin Yun instantly flashed forward and threw a punch straight at the Demon Beast’s massive claw.

Fist and claw collided, and both sides were forced back several steps. But seeing the figure standing protectively before them, the three youths were still utterly shocked. Someone their own age had actually blocked a Tier Two Demon Beast.

”He’s an Academy student...” one of the young men mumbled.

Hearing this, the other young man quickly came to his senses. A look of arrogance appeared on his face as he commanded Lin Yun, ”You... go kill that animal for me.”

Lin Yun’s face soured at those words. ’Does he think I’m his family’s nanny? I only saved them out of kindness, and this guy has the nerve to push his luck?’

Noticing Lin Yun’s displeasure, the first young man who had spoken tried to smooth things over with a smile. ”Please don’t take offense. My friend just has a bit of a nasty temper, but he definitely doesn’t mean any harm.”

Their lives were now in Lin Yun’s hands. If he decided to just wash his hands of them, the three of them would end up as Demon Beast fodder.

Lin Yun didn’t bother arguing with them. He was planning to kill the Demon Beast and leave anyway, regardless of whether that guy was arrogant or not.

”Black Steel Tyrant Fist!” With a fierce shout, Lin Yun charged the Demon Beast, and the two instantly clashed.

From the aura erupting from Lin Yun, the trio could tell he was only at the Eighth Layer of Opening. But watching him fight the Tier Two Demon Beast to a standstill, their opinion of him changed completely.

”My god, could he be a student from the Academy’s Elite Class? He can actually overpower a Tier Two Demon Beast.”

Both young men looked astonished. Even the one who had been so arrogant moments before reined in his attitude considerably. An Elite Class student from the Academy was not someone he could afford to offend.

As for the young woman, she gazed at Lin Yun with adoration in her eyes, her expression completely betraying her thoughts.

After a fierce battle, Lin Yun finally drew his Overlord Spear, and the Tier Two Demon Beast died resentfully at his hands.

Having successfully killed a Tier Two Demon Beast, the three now looked at Lin Yun with a hint of awe. Their tone became respectful when they spoke to him. It couldn’t be helped; in this world, the strong were revered.

”Thank you for saving us,” the three said gratefully to Lin Yun.

Waving his hand slightly, Lin Yun smiled and replied, ”It was nothing. When you’re out and about, you should help when you can.”

Lin Yun’s casual attitude made the three think even more highly of him. With such Combat Power, he was clearly no ordinary student at the Academy. Combined with his easygoing and approachable manner, the three quickly decided they should try to befriend him.

After introducing themselves, Lin Yun learned their identities. As he’d guessed, all three were children of nobles from the Capital City. It wasn’t hard to tell from their clothes alone; their outfits were easily worth over ten thousand Gold Coins, something no ordinary family could afford.

The two young men were named Wangcai and Li Ji. Wangcai was the third young master of the Wang Family. According to Li Ji, the Wang Family was the wealthiest in the entire Capital City, with all sorts of shops everywhere.

Li Ji was the second son of the commander of the National Capital Guard Army, also a son of a wealthy family.

The last one, the young woman named Chen Xin, was the daughter of the current Grand Secretary. From the way Wangcai and Li Ji looked at her, Lin Yun could tell both of them were infatuated with Chen Xin.

It was no wonder. Though Chen Xin’s looks couldn’t compare to Lu Bingning or Lan Xi, her gentle, refined, and scholarly demeanor was still enough to attract many a young noble.

After the round of introductions, the group became more familiar with each other. Lin Yun, however, didn’t mention that he was a student of the Genius Class. If he revealed that identity, there probably wasn’t a single noble in the entire Capital City, aside from members of the Royal Family, who could compare to him.

Since this was a journey for experience, Lin Yun decided it was better to keep a low profile.

”Young Master Lin, may I ask why you left the Academy this time?” Wangcai asked.

”No need for the ’Young Master’ stuff. It sounds weird. You can just call me Lin Shan. I came out this time to get some experience,” Lin Yun replied.

Lin Yun was on a training journey. After some conversation, he learned that Wangcai, Li Ji, and Chen Xin had come to the Imperial City Mountain Range to find a Spirit Grass called Anti-Aging Grass. As for its purpose, it was self-evident—it was a gift for Chen Xin.

However, the three had clearly underestimated the dangers of the Imperial City Mountain Range. They had only just entered the mountains when they ran into a Tier Two Demon Beast. If not for Lin Yun, they would probably be dead already.

’Anti-Aging Grass...’ Lin Yun’s interest was piqued. ’If I could get a few stalks, they would be perfect gifts for Lu Bingning, Lan Xi, and my mother.’

”Do you know where the Anti-Aging Grass is?” Lin Yun asked the three of them.

Hearing this, Li Ji replied, ”We know where it’s supposed to be. We have a map that we paid a high price for. But based on our current situation, I’m afraid it’ll be very difficult to get.”

”Why?” Lin Yun didn’t understand.

”This is just the outer area of the Imperial City Mountain Range. The place marked on the map is in the center, where there might even be Tier Three Demon Beasts. It’s just too dangerous.”
